I love all the moments Hashirama and Madara talk like friends...training, playing, joking, having fun, having philosophy discussion about the world...dreaming of something better than the world they have with the endless vicious cycle of hatred and murder they must endure. It's so beautiful that a friendship like this could blossom in such a world !
I do too, and I'm actually a bit sad that during their other interactions with each other when they meet on the battlefield they don't really feel like they are experiencing the emotional way of their shared history. They both kind of come off OneNote as Hashirama kind of cares but kind of isn't taking anything seriously for a guy with unlimited chakra who's unkillable, and Madara just wants to fight and drone on about how powerful he is over and over
@@magortom I think you see it pretty clearly in all of hashiramas encounters, especially his tone of voice with sasuke, one of the most important things he ever did. Arguably setting right his mistake in killing Madara.
The reason Tobiramas hair color keeps changing is because it's whitish silver. Artist never color teeth or white clothing as white all the time because white absorbs the dominant ambient color. If you're at a party and the main lighting is blue and you slime your teeth will loos blueish. And Tobirama was in the sunset setting so his hair looked that color. Look at the dominant ambient color and you'll see Tobiramas hair match it.

Its hard to imagine that people who lived in Sengoku period (Warring States). In reality, it was the near-constant civil war and social upheaval from year 1467-1615 in Japan. The pain and loss they had to endure every single day, like getting a good night sleep or a proper meal were like a wildest dream. Kids who lost their life by forcibly fighting the wars started by adults who can't understand or agree terms with each other, triggers the endless "cycle of hatred".
they don't fight every day in sengoku jidai. There's seasons when they harvest rice and other food stuff, that is when they fight because supplies abundant. That rice thing isn't racist btw, in case somebody triggered by it, since Shogun govt literally make tax based on how much rice is produced in a territory.
Hasirama story explains everything. He grew up in a time of war where killing children was considered a necessity. That's why he decided to find a new way, rather than continue the act of killing like his father wanted. Madara too wanted to change things, but his views did center more on individuals views, rather than collective ones.
I love how this flashback shows that Madara's ideals and philosophy are the same as when he was a child, just pushed to an extreme degree. Having to live through a war-torn era where all the people he cares for (minus one) are only remembered as casualties of war, and feels betrayed by the one person he considered a friend. No longer willing to put faith in human nature, and believe that happiness can only be attained through an illusion. While I don't agree with it, I can understand his desire to forsake reality for a dream world, where suffering is a foreign concept.
4:58 Hashirama is 1 of 4 siblings... The other being Tobirama, Itama (the one we see briefly) and the youngest being Kawarama, the 7 y/o kid whose burying they were attending. We never got to see him...
honestly I'd say it was Tobirama's idea from the beginning. he shared it with Hashirama who then adopted it and shared it with Madara. then Tobirama established and codified the systems.
Kids went from killing each other at 7 years old to killing eachother at 13. Just shows that the whole shinobi system is trash and that Sasuke was right
I assume it was a shuriken "jutsu" since in this instance Jutsu could mean "technique"! So in that way I suppose he was using a shuriken technique to throw the stone a certain way?

The Warring States Era is a very good example of survival of the fittest. Only the best grow to adulthood. That’s why Hashirama and Madara are so strong. They’re combining natural talent, with experience gained from literally fighting from the time they’re born to become the ultimate ninja
Clearly this episode was inspired by the 2005 movie SHINOBI, which tells the story of a couple from different ninja villages who fall in love but keep meeting secretly and talking about the hatred that their villages carry with each other. It is a very beautiful film, but sad.
Unlike Kishimoto, Oda leaves little to no plotholes and is better at world building. But man when Kishimoto gets going, he gets going. He's unstoppable and can produce some epic iconic moments

Current system of villages might be faulty but atleast there's a system now that can evolve and get more better with the future. Village is that hope, and is a lot better place.

When you think about it, the 4 hokages had to stand and reflect on the gravity of their decisions in creating jutsu from reanimation to reaper death seal to regretable decisions and unresolved friendships... no matter the era kids went through so much too
I wouldn't say that Tobirama hated the Uchiha per se, he seems to be a generally pragmatic person who based decisions on logic, structure, realism. Sure, the Uchiha killed his brothers, friends, clan members, and he probably resented or felt hate for them in particular moments. But as I understood him, he didn't base his decisions regarding the Uchiha on mere hatred for them. (He trusted Kagami Uchiha for example, went along with Hashiramas truce) Rather, he sought to understand their powers, motives, how to integrate such a powerful clan, giving them a responsibility so that they don't feel excluded. He learned that they can be a huge danger to everyone else but also for themselves, due to the Uchiha's incredible potential for gaining immense power. Sure, one can question his decisions and in hindsight, everything can and should be questioned. But at that time, in that moment, he had to make decisions. It could have also turned out differently. Furthermore, he was the Hokage at one point, he also had to satisfy other clans and listen to the voices of the entire village. This is a huge political balancing act. Just imagine this position: you have a super powerful clan, Madara shows how one single person of that clan, if led astray, can cause so much damage. Now one gets this: On the one hand, people that fear this power and people that deify this power. No one should have this much power, there need to be strong checks and balances. And Tobirama thought giving the Uchiha some authority, and standing, prestige, a duty and big responsibility will satisfy the Uchiha's strive for power/value while simultaneously assuring/showing the rest of the village: hey, look, they are the police, they protect us from criminals, they help enforce the laws we built/agreed upon to have order and stability, they are doing important work and are good at it. We don't need to worry about them turning against us. Additionally, Tobirama is Hashiramas brother afterall. He saw how much pain Madara caused Hashirama. We can actually compare this with Sai who couldn't understand at all why Naruto is so fixated with Sasuke, putting so much pain and responsibility on himself.
Ik we still send the kids to fight and such. But in the current world, it’s more merit based. In the old world, they sent any and everybody. In this world, if you’re a chunin, your skill level is chunin, whether you’re 5 or 62. They also aren’t sending 62 year old genie to to fight wars because they’re not good enough. So this world is significantly more advanced in that you go to fight when you’re ready, not when you’re old enough (because old enough in the old world meant 7 lol)

Anyway, I don't know if it occurred to anyone that the first clans that descended from the second son of the sage of the six paths would have inherited his power separately. As for kakashi, it seems that his clan is one of his heirs, but I don't know if you mean only kakashi or someone from his clan in that story. and in the case that the mother is a hatake, perhaps it is the reason that hashirama, having both bloodlines and having the physical features of a senju, has acquired the wood style.
