I will be forever grateful to Olivia Munn for being an absolute purist and refusing to film until they gave her a comic authentic Psylocke costume. They told her it would be all black and fit in with the other costumes style... she refused and said Psylocke had a purple costume. They said they'd give her a purple sash on the black costume... she said Psylocke had a red sash on a purple costume. She just refused to do it until they made the costume authentic to the source material. I don't care that it seemed a bit out of place compared to the others, I don't care if it seemed too revealing. I am just extremely happy that I got to see a live action Psylocke played by an actress who cared that much to at least get the appearance right if the story couldn't be.
@@gdiaz8827 amen to that. My avatar is DC’s 2nd Phantom Lady and I can only hope one day another actress can make a stand to get her right in live action at least once.
Yeah, because Bryan Singer cares nothing for the comics. It's so apparent. J Law is great, as was Rebecca Romijn, but Mystique was not a main character until he made her one.
@@osmanyousif7849 yeah I feel bad for Olivia going in with a binder of comics and ideas only to be met with an ‘uhhhhhh…’ from the director who had no clue about the character
That's because she's not one of those "prissy" types of actresses, who wants to cover up her physical beauty, to deprive the male masses from admiring her physique. She's perfectly alright with being worshipped from head to toe. As really all actresses should be. lol
The original trilogy still happened. The new timeline could only exist because of Logan traveling back in time, Future Logan still had the memories of his OG timeline.
In that sense all timeslines still happen, the relevant thing is that the original movies are not longer the future of these ones, and lets be honest there are a few incosist... choices that are hard to smooth out even with multiple timelines
@@wobaguk X MEN 1 and 2 and 3 happen. Then you have DOFP (Days of future Past) Logan goes back, he messes with the time line. Now when he returns to the future its NOT his body that returns, its his mind. his mind returns to what the NEW present his (jean and Scott still alive) the events of x men 1 2 and 3 have been changed. however his body remained in the river - he was turned into weapon x by striker, and he went on to live a life as the all the x men with adventures you haven't seen. We just saw Jean free logan and he goes on with his life , in which he eventually meets the xmen, gets to know charles, and teaches at the school. then at some point THE MIND OF LOGAN who remebers the orignal time line enters his mind, and Charles has to catch him up on everything that happened from when his mind left (when he was in the river drowning) to that moment he woke up and saw jean and Scott alive again. Logan doesn't remeber any of his experiences from the river - to being weapon x - to going to the school - which is ok, because in the original timeline logan could not remember any of his past anyway. so now we have these X men - and we don't know what going to happen to them or what kinds of adventures they have. Next film is Dark Phoenix - which continues the story of these xmen Then you have Logan (Logan takes place in a different future) as part of the Marvel Multiverse - Logan is in a different universe - the characters in it are not the same characters you see in these films. Charles is charles but just not the one we have been following - so its best to watch Logan as an isolated standalone movie with no connection to any of the films you have watched
@@Redballoon99 That's a lot of words to say that post DOFP, X-Men 1,2,3 did not happen and only exist as a memory of an alternate timeline to Logan. What we don't know is if both timeline memories exist in Logan's head or not. It's kind of implied that when Logan got his pre-DOFP memories back they override his new timeline memories, since he was shocked to see Jean.
@@Redballoon99 The end credits stinger in Apocalypse being the theft of the genetic samples by Essex Corp paints Logan as the new future of the 'new' DofP present because Apocalypse is the 'new' revised past after 'DofP'. Inconsistencies like Caliban in Logan is no different from the inconsistent Xavier at the end of Xmen Origins. Or that the revised presesnt has a human Jean in it, but is then preceeded by the Jean becoming Dark Phoenix in the movie of the same name. You can of course write all sorts of head canon to undo these. It also really is a matter of interpretion whether a altered timeline replaces the original timeline (Back to the Future style), is a 2nd valid timeline alongside the first, or whether all possible timelines exist, and we are just naratively following certain ones based on cause and effect.
Olivia had the option to not wear the comic accurate but she said oh he'll no I'm wearing it and her costume is the most comic accurate of them all aside from Deadpool later
@@weaponsofwarfare9537bro, mcu version is comic book version. He is slower and not fast like this in comic so mcu is more accurate. Quicksilver abilities is actually slow down time around him, not became faster like this movie did. This fox version of quicksilver is Flash version minus lightning
Next up would be Logan, followed by Deadpool 2 (which contains spoilers from Logan), then X-Men: Dark Phoenix and finally the New Mutants (which sorta has the follow up on the Essex Corp, if memory serves). Four more movies to go!
I would say they should save Logan for last, except for what @Ambaryemo said. So maybe they should just watch Dark Phoenix next (and New Mutants if we must) and THEN watch Logan and DP2.
Magneto was the only one who didn’t actually get power, apocalypse only showed him how powerful he actually is by telling him that the earth itself is partially metal but while feeling the ground Magneto was feeling anger and sadness about his past which made him stronger
Girls, that villain IS really something else, because he's Apocalypse. As I kid I used to watch the X-Men cartoons, and he was about the only villain that the X-Men could never defeat; even Bishop and Cable tried, and maybe stopped his plans, but to my knowledge he never was destroyed. But movie makers do take a lot of liberties, so who knows what we'll see next....
Apocalypse is my favorite villain but he was miscast in this movie. Oscar Isaac is a good actor, but he's no Apocalypse. They should have picked a larger actor with a deeper voice. The 90s cartoon, he's perfect.
IIRC in the show they do 'defeat' him in the same sense as he was defeated in the beginning of the movie. They trap him in eternal sleep... again. In the comics, the X-men join forces with Cable, Bishop, Spider-Man, Deadpool, and the Avengers to defeat him in the future when he is in a weakened state, having not taken a new body yet. However Stryfe (another time traveler) returns later on to explain only his body died but his consciousness still remained and returned to a tomb in Egypt... which is where this movie starts off. The problem with apocalypse is that he is eternal and he can manipulate not only matter but energy too on a cosmic scale. Apocalypse reminds me of Cthulhu from HP Lovecraft in the sense that he is basically a god, who is eternal, and sleeps for millennia. When he wakes up the very fabric of reality is at risk. More so than Thanos because he doesn't need the infinity stones to do it.
@@CollideFan1both of you, if you truly grew up with the character and know what he truly is then you know this isn’t him and THAT’S one of the reasons people hated on this movie. This isn’t the real Apocalypse. They basically just threw the name to trick people into watching the movie expecting an amazing and powerful super villain. Instead we got this…
@@zimvader25 I know what he is since his first appearance until the mid 90s when I stopped collecting comics. This movie doesn't come close to doing him justice.
Another movie with a similar theme (done better) is "Solomon Kane" starring James Purefoy. Hardly anyone ever talks about it, but it's one of the movies I enjoy rewatching.
Moving forward beyond Days of Future Past's 1973 is pretty much a new timeline. They'll be elements in this film that simply don't line up with what you know from past films. Angel is the perfect example. In the original timeline Angel appeared in X-Men: The Last Stand (2006) firstly in a flashback showing him as a young kid trying to cut off his wings. And during present day mid 2000s as a teenager/young adult around the ages of 18 to early 20s. He would then go on to join the X-Men and help them in the final battle. But in X-Men: Apocalypse Angel is now a teenager/Young Adult during the 1980s who becomes one of Apocalypses horsemen. Becoming Archangel just like the comics when Apocalypse turned Angel into one of his horsemen. Though in the film Angel was never a memeber of the X-Men. So don't try to connect these films too much to what you know. It's basically a reboot that shares some elements with the older films. You'll notice this going into Logan and how it kind of references events from the original films, can assume that some events happened in a similar way but the truth is we know nothing about the 2000s in this new timeline.
Also when you get around to watching Dark Phoenix, set in 1992, try not to think too much about how all the cast looks basically the same as they did in "X-Men: First Class", which was set 30 years earlier in 1962. You're just meant to IMAGINE them looking older, I guess.
Don't trying and connect ANY of the reboot movies to ANYTHING. Not even each other. They don't make ANY sense as a timeline. First Class wasn't canon to the original movies, DOFP isn't canon to First Class Apocalypse isn't canon to DOFP Dark Phoenix isn't canon to DOFP either. Hell, DOFP is a completely incoherent all on its own WITHOUT trying to connect it to anything.
I hate this movie because of that :Jubilee is already there Mystic with Nightcrawler WTF .They all look too young for the year they are and Dark Phoenix gonna fuck top this weird timeline even more !!!
It’s really kinda sad how “they” just bobbled whatever they wanted into these films. I think that’s why the Avengers did so well; those involved actually cared about the characters and storylines equally. X-Men walked so The Avengers could run.
It's funny when Star Trek the Next Gen started my friends joked Geordi's visor was a ripoff of Cyclop's visor from the comics, wondering when he'd add a phaser to it...
I love that 3 movies ago people specifically said, "don't think too much about the timeline" and now we have this films where 70% of the conversation is about how it works in the timeline.
Yeah, these movies are absolute nonsense as far as timelines and continuity go. There's absolutely no point in thinking about how or why things fit together with previous films. There was no plan, no overall story, etc. This isn't the MCU (shut up, whoever is about to reply "durr now it is because multiverse durr", it's not the MCU).
It was nice for Stan and his wife Joan to share this cameo. :) and Xavier's call back to feeling a great swell of pity for anyone coming to the school looking for trouble.
I absolutely LOVED how ironically HUMAN this movie made Magneto feel. He tried with everything he had to be normal, and to just love his family and protect his friends, and fate intervened and made him feel like he was meant to be a monster. It makes you appreciate him for what he became, why he hates and fears humanity the way he does. He knows regardless of how hard he tries to hide, or be "normal" they will never leave him alone.
@@StopReadingMyNameOrElse I get that it could come off that way for sure, but his entire life went this way from his childhood when Shaw killed his mother in front of him. In movies you can predict 99% of outcomes, it doesn't make the portrayal bad, at least to me.
It hasn't made sense since the first solo Wolverine movie. Because that screwed up the Weapon X and Sabertooth stuff. Then, the ending of First Class contradicts the flashback to young Jean in Last Stand, since Magneto and Charles met Jean together. It also screws up Origins: Wolverine, since Charles could walk when he recruited Scott. This is confused further, as Logan tells Charles to find Scott and Jean in Days of Future Past. And Apocalypse also messes with Scott's origin, because now Xavier gave Scott the glasses he somehow had in Origins Wolverine. It's a Gordian Knot of continuity errors.
The best part is showing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine but went by Weapon X. This is a uncredited scene for Hugh. All X-Men fans were excited to see him on the big screen.
A lot of a certain group of people lost their minds about Psylocke's outfit in this movie. Of course, what none of them would listen to was the fact that Olivia Munn demanded that her costume be the comic-accurate version as she is a big fan of Psylocke.
@@harrybirchall3308Nah, it's true. I spoke to several people when this film first came out and one of the things that kept popping up was that people thought Psylocke's outfit was sexist. Me being an above-average comic book nerd, I told them that this was how her outfit looked in the comics so it is actually accurate and not something the film did just to make Psylocke look like eye-candy. Many of them still tried to disagree, mostly by saying that putting Olivia Munn in that position of wearing something so revealing just to play a comic character was still sexist. It was at that moment that I told them, and then showed them via sources, that Olivia Munn was a big fan of Psylocke in the Marvel Comics so much so that she actually wanted the outfit to be exactly as it was in the comics. The majority of people simply accepted it and were surprised, some of them kept quiet and didn't even respond with a couple actually sighing and shaking their heads, a few people actually conceded, and there were a couple of them that actually tried to say that she was probably coerced into saying those things to make the decision seem like a good idea.
@@Lord_Draco_III The idea that women dressing sexy is sexist is utter BS. It's just good old-fashioned American puritanism rearing its head in a new form. They are countless famous women who are constantly posting barely dressed pictures of themselves on their own social media pages, like Salma Hayek, Elizabeth Hurley, Vanessa Angel, etc. These woke folks are clueless.
@@body_by_depuy I remember see in her post a bts shot of her in costume and posted it to a thread and got laughed at by everyone. They said there was no way in hell they’d put her in that comic outfit with how sexualized and objectifying it was and what Olivia showed was clearly going to be covered up in full body armor. I was so satisfied when the trailer came out along with Olivia saying she was the one who made it happen.
4:23 I see what you did there. my son didn't catch it right away...we were like: Dad: Oh that's cute. Eric: What is? Dad: What does that say? Eric: X-Men: Apocalypse. Apocalypse always believed in one rule above all else. The rule his ancient desert clan lived by. Survival of the Fittest. Only the strong survive, so survival is the measure of strength. He constantly took his kingdoms to "apocalypse" to weed out the weak and make those worthy to survive even stronger.
@@ThatSamoanGuy This movie is so goofy that I like it. Still haven't gotten around to Dark Phoenix. That's probably so goofy and terrible that I'd like it too.
Logan BEFORE Deadpool 2 for spoiler free reasons. Also fun fact they were filming X-Men:Dark Phoenix at the same time as Deadpool 2 a fact they used as a comic beat in Deadpool 2.
Magneto didn't need his power enhanced, he just needed to be shown how to control his power better, he is already one of the most powerful mutants to exist.
It makes me so happy to see Cassie enjoying & totally keeping track of story/plot lines of movies that she wouldve never watched years ago. Her growth has been so fun to watch.
Jean’s entrance there at the end is one of the top 5-7 best entrances in superhero movie history! Just shows how powerful entity she really is. Not many in the whole Marvel universe can beat her. Phoenix 🐦🔥 force
The colors really pop in this one. All of them feel heightened. Maybe the best-looking of all the X-Men films. Also like how fully formed the world and team are in it. Feels like X2 or Last Stand in that way.
X-Men First Class was 1960. Days of Future Past was 1970. Apocalypse was 1980. Showing the release of Wolverine/weapon X. But in the end Days of Future pass reset this entire timeline.
Right decades but the wrong year in every instance ("First Class" was 1962, during the Cuban Missile Crisis, "Days of Future Past" was 1973 and "Apocalypse" was 1983, a big clue for the latter two being what Quicksilver is listening to in his big scenes - Jim Croce's "Time in a Bottle", from 1972 and "Sweet Dreams" by the Eurythmics, released in 1983).
When you list off what you had left for your Marvel's X-Men experience, you missed one. X-Men: Dark Phoenix , so if you watch in order of release, next is Logan (2017), then Deadpool 2 (2018), then X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019) and Deadpool and Wolverine (2024). There was also The New Mutants (2020) which doesn't really tie in with all the other X-Men movies.
Essex Corp. is a reference to a villain named Mister Sinister. They have put a ton of easter eggs involving him in the movies, but so far he has no actual part in the movies.
@@Zombie-lx3sh It wasn't THAT terrible. Did think it would be better though considering they were retconning The Last Stand. I actually prefer that one.
Carly committed movie reacting sin #1! NEVER stop watching the movie! You seriously looked away from a really cool scene when angel got his metal wings cuz u thought it was gonna be worse than it was.
Essex Corp was a reference to Nathaniel Essex aka Mr Sinister, another X-Men villain. He was suppose to be the villain in the 'Logan' movie but they changed it.
Yeah, the important thing to remember with this is that 'Days of Future Past' shifted the narrative into a new timeline back in the 70s, meaning the first three movies effectively never happened and the characters can meet at different times now. It's effectively an in-universe retcon.
5:38 -- RE: "Imhotep!"; *LMAO!* Got a big belly laugh from me there, so I might as well tell you, the only other callback better than a Mummy reference is Leelu Dallas, Multipass. That one works IRL like a charm.
Logan didn't travel back in time, his consciousness traveled back to a younger version of himself, that's why they used him, because of his slow aging, and messed up mind, he was the only one they could use as a conduit.
Metallica’s “Four Horsemen” blasting while Apocalypse is turning Angel into Archangel is my fav part of the movie. That also means this takes place when the album Master of Puppets came out, so 1986… Ps plz dont forget Xmen Dark Pheonix and New Mutants. Both lead to Logan…
Fun fact: Jean's abilities are similar to Wanda's (Scarlet Witch). In the original comic book, Wanda is Magneto's daughter, and Quicksilver is her twin brother. However, Marvel made changes to this storyline.
Ladies, you have the order wrong. Next is Logan before Deadpool 2. After that there's still three more. X-Men: Dark Phoenix The New Mutants Deadpool And Wolverine
@@dibmonkey7224 Blade doesn't mix with the rest of Marvel. It's not important enough to care about. Too old, too bad too boring. They got 9000 other things to get to from the MCU and the sideline Marvel stuff.
Yeah, I guess strictly speaking, for completion's sake. Neither Dark Phoenix or The New Mutants are exactly necessities on any other level though IMO - great potential, not great movies (and there's certainly no sane universe where, for instance, they're better off watching those but skipping 'Blade', which is both much more fun _and_ will be more entertaining to see Carly especially watch :).
Cassie and Carly in the 90s there was a comic book called Legion, which FX made a tv show based on, about Prof X's son who went crazy , and in his comic book he went crazy and went back in time and killed his father, before he could start the Xmen, and they never fought Apocalypse and for a year in marvel comics all comic books were set in an alternate timeline where there were no xmen and Apocalypse reigned supreme , it was called the AGE OF APOCALYPSE
32:01 The Quicksilver scenes in this and Days are some of the most creative, well-executed, and hilarious bits in any Super-Hero movie. They need to get Evan Peters fully into the MCU ASAP.
They COULD have illuded to Raven being Kurt's mother in this. I know they already had the Erik and Peter thing going on, but it would work for them to make the mother son connection as well. The timeline matches up, Jennifer Lawrence knew that information when she filmed this (there's an outtake where she confirmed it), and the looks Raven gave Kurt in this movie could be interpreted that way. I'm still going to have this as a headcanon.
Honestly, this is where the new X-Men films started losing me. I am a HUGE fan of the original X-Men films, but the newer ones just didn't hit the same way, (with the exception of Logan) and the latest ones (Dark Phoenix, New Mutants) lost me completely. Luckily, Deadpool & Wolverine pulled me back in.
I feel the same way. Days of Future Past was climax to wrap up the previous movies, didn't really care for subsequent movies after that except for Logan. Deadpools are great but it's just not the same as X-Men for me despite being in the same cineatic scope.
Girl with purple laser blades: Psylocke. She is a rogue agent never sits with a group. The Angel guy is Warren Wothington III known as Angel. When Apocalypse changes his wings to steel he becomes known as Arch Angel. Wolverine was a mind controlled Weapon at first called Weapon X. This one is very much a fan movie. It was an attempt to resurrect the X-Men franchise by making the movies follow the comics more. Charles Xavier first X-Men team was: Cyclops(Scott Summers) Marvel Girl(Jean Grey) Storm(Ororo Munroe) Beast(Hank McCoy) Iceman(Bobby Drake) Angel (Warren Wellington III).
The reaction you two showed when Magneto's family was killed is the reason why I adore the both of you so much. The heart's on the 2 of you are too big for this world, such wonderful and caring women your parents raised, Kudos to them. Way to go Cass, you by far have the absolutely best reaction channel on RU-vid
This film has grown on me but I'm still not the biggest fan of how Apocalypse was depicted in this film. If you want to tell a story surrounding Apocalypse you really need a whole Saga focused around him, Like how the MCU treated Thano's with the Infinity Saga. He's one of the most iconic X-Men villains of all time thanks to his amazing storyline's from the comics and his appearances throughout the X-Men: Animated Series that was my introduction to his character. Maybe Apocalypse will be the big bad for the MCU X-Men films. Things I liked: The 1980s setting was great. Some of the most iconic X-Men stories were released across the 1980s so it reminded me so much of this time period. I loved how the film put more focus on characters beyond Wolverine, though many still lacked development. Scott and Jean meeting for the first time was fun to see. Both Scott and Jean were actually the first X-Men, alongside Angel, Beast, and Iceman making their first appearances in X-Men #1 (1963). This is also true for X-Men '97 as well which is extremally comic accurate. Was really happy to see Jubilee (Asian student with the yellow coat) who only appeared in the background of the original films. She's one of my favourite characters from the X-Men Animated Series and returns in X-Men '97 so you'll see her in that series if you watch it. The little Wolverine cameo was fun. Showcasing Logan wearing his Weapon X outfit, minus the helmet so we could see Hugh Jackman's face. But after coming off X-Men '97 it's difficult to watch through any of these films again without thinking how much better they could've been. One of these days I'll comment about the X-Men movies without mentioning X-Men 97. But it's really difficult to not compare as X-Men 97 is just the best X-Men experience outside of the comics. New Timeline: X-Men: First Class - *1961* X-Men: Days of Future Past - *1973* X-Men: Apocalypse - *1983*
Me too. When you have a name like Apocalyse, that sounds like someone who should sound like a big threat. But man, not only was his character wasted here, but it's also just a huge miscast to have Oscar Isaac play the character. This is a character that needs to be a giant (use motion capture if you must) and have a booming voice like Keith David or Christopher Judge.
The X-Men have several characters who could work as "Saga" Villains. My favorite would be Selene, especially if you used her Death Goddess incarnation from Necrosha.
Scott (Cyclops) is a high school teenager here, but this movie takes place 20 years after First Class, so his brother Alex (Havoc) would now be old enough to be Scott's father. The two actors, however, are only six years apart in age. They really gave no fucks about continuity with these prequels.
“Days of Futures Past” *DIDN’T ERASE THE FIRST THREE FILMS* It only Erased “X-Men The Last Stand” We know this because Jean Grey was THOUGHT to have died in the second film but we learned that Logan actually had to Kill her in the third film. Every thing that happened in the first two Films still happened it was really only the 3rd film that got “Reset/Retconned” Which is Why Logan was so glad to see Jean and even Scott and Charles at the end of “Days of Futures Passed”
Logan's consciousness at the end of Days of Future Past is the same consciousness that went through all the previous movies. That's why he was confused seeing them alive. You're ignoring him waking up being confused about waking up in the mansion, since in his timeline the world is a hellscape. Or being confused about Rogue and Bobby being together, etc. The scene goes on for like 2 min of him being confused before he even sees Jean or Scott
Wrong. It reconned the first three films. Everything happens differently post days of future past. This film proves it with angel and nightcrawler meeting the X men completely differently.
@@jeetkunedoatlanta2464 Also Hank's still walking around the mansion, implying he never left to go work with the government, and has been there the entire time.
This is still my favorite X-Men movie I think. I just love the plot development, the one-liners and the larger-than-life villain. This is a page-turner. Every scene gets me involved and makes me anticipate what's coming next.
Yeah.... so I think most can agree that this is where the series began to reach it's downfall again. And here's where I think the big issues to that is: 1. WHO IS THE MAIN CHARACTER HERE? One of the things that many complained about this series was giving Logan/Wolverine too much focus, which is why movies like The Last Stand and Origins: Wolverine went a bit wrong. However, while giving him too much focus became a problem, at least THERE IS A FOCUS. Even First Class, with how well that balanced all of its characters, it still focuses on Xavier and Erik/Magneto as the primaries. However, with Apocalypse, you can watch about half of the movie, yet you'll have NO IDEA who the leads are. And it's not like The Avengers movies where most of these people had their own movie prior. You never know anything about Scott/Cyclops, Jean/Dark Phoenix, or Nightcrawler. As they're clearly different from the other films so some of the movies' time should have been dedicated for getting to know them, AND YET YOU DON'T THEM. As the movies are so focused on the pointless subplots that it ignores character. And speaking of character.... 2. Most of the relationships built in before or after the events of the "Original Series", are kept separated for most of this films. Even when people do meet up, nobody feels like they're happy to see each other. Like how Raven/Mystique and Hank/Beast meet each other in this film. Now I wasn't the biggest fan of how they handled Logan and Rogue's relationship in the first two movies (I think the comics and animated shows did it better), but at least Hugh Jackman's and Anna Paquin's acting made their scenes together feel touching that everyone felt like they had a connection. However, when someone meets up here, nobody really looks at each other. They mainly just talk, yet it's not even that engaging, unless they're "exposition-dumping". Everyone just looks dejected in this movie. Nobody looks excited or wants to have fun, when this is a superhero film, and it shouldn't be an impossible task.

Cassie and Carly in the 90s was a comic book called Mutant X , where Alex Summers got shunted into another dimension where Jean was evil and so was Beast
the easiest break down of Wolverine and the new timeline: the Wolverine with bone claws who sunk in the river in the 70's is this Wolverine in the 80's with Adamantium claws, he has a whole life from the 1973 until 2023 not shown in the movies where all the XMen are still alive and well(the fixed timeline) we just get a glimpse of that fixed timeline. The OG Wolverine who lived XMen 1, X2 and XMen the last stand leading to the dark apocalyptic future where in 2023 mutants are in prison camps or killed by Sentinels went back with through his consciousness to the 70's , fixed the timeline, then his consciousness went back to body of this Wolverine in the fixed timeline in 2023 not knowing what happened since 1973 to 2023 in this new fixed timeline. Then Prof X tells him everything so he can catch up and have the highlights of this new history of the XMen from 1973 to 2023..
I can understand why it's not liked. These last 3 X-Men movies are all terrible. But what I can't understand is why anyone would prefer DOFP over Apocalypse. DOFP is completely incoherent gibberish all on its own. Apocalypse is at least a coherent and cohesive story that actually makes sense unto itself. (NONE of the reboot X-Men movies make any fucking sense if you try and link them together.)
Probably because they played too fast and loose with Apocalypse and the horsemen. Also, one of the big problems with most superhero franchises is the villains are not just defeated. They are killed. The exception being Magneto. Apocalypse is not the kill off type, so his defeat should have been a defeat, not a kill.
