There is an artist who is the embodiment of Lamont Coleman...RJ Payne, formerly known as battle rapper Reignman. Check out the If Cocaine Could Talk series and his cinematic breakdowns of movie scenes. Also his verses on Benny The Butcher's "Dirty Harry" and his song with Swave Sevah and Nems "Fuck Ya Life". They won't disappoint. I promise
After studying Big L for a long time this guy was gonna be a billionaire. he would’ve had serious competition with Eminem in 99-02. He would’ve made serious records during that time. What a damn loss. honestly one of the most unspoken losses that’s even happened in hip hop history. what’s hidden in the dark will come to light and I’m glad some artists today still give a shout out to L. Rest easy dawg you was too talented. one of my idols
Big L is the biggest what-if in rap music. He was already the greatest MC, but he never had the chance to develop into a full-fledged artist like Nas or Rakim.
@100 subs before 202l dude, didn't big L spit nothing but street shit? Ain't nothing wrong with it, but man, L talked nothing but drugs, women, and shooting clowns. Any tracks where he spit anything aside from that I ain't heard?
@100 subs before 202l on the real tho, big L opened my eyes. Not with subject matter, but his technical abilities and his punchlines. In terms of that, not many MCs could dream of holding a candle up to this man. RIP a legend
@@youtubeislame8773 Read the comment again clown. "Big L is the biggest what-if in rap music. This is why Nas is easily my favorite hip-hop artist, as great as he is...he still gives respect to the artist that paved the way for him and to some of his contemporaries! And he is considered 1 of the GOATs of this genre. RESPECT
Jason Roberts Ya Ik, Nas really gave respects to everyone. He really is too humble, makes him underrated as high as he's held. Btw Nas came before L man, Nas debuted on 1991
@Floyd Gibson did it, Nas released illmatic before L's album and also had his first appearance on the Main Source's album in 1991 on their track called Live At The Barbeque. So how exactly he paved him the way, not to mention different styles and music.
Still Nas was more deeper than Big L for sure. But L brought the strongest voice, block drama, energy and charisma and punched like crazy too. Definitely enjoyed him a bit more than Jay. He had that battle rapper fire to him.
Big L...Probably the biggest what if ever in hip hop...What if he didn't pass away...Personally i think he would become one of the biggest to ever do it and a very successful busines man later on
there is no way on earth Big L was signing with a label like Rockefeller. They had him killed because L would have become bigger than any of them while remaining independent. If L ever got into making the head on diss tracks he would have ended plenty of future pop careers .
DanceBox337 cam'ron named dude that killed big L on a ig freestyle a couple months ago. They knew each other he was from Harlem I doubt Jay Z or Roc a fella had him killed. RIP BIG L
Big L didnt sign with Roc-A-Fella because L wanted his crew to sign with him too (C-Town & Herb Mcgruff) and dame dash only wanted L so L made his own label Flamboyant ENT. Big L was also shot in retaliation from some street shit his big brother did but his brother was in jail at the time so they got L instead. It had nothin to do with Jayz/Roc-A-Fella wanting him dead.
@@unclebob2792 RESPECT. . YOU'R ETHE FIRST PERSON ON EARTH BESIDES ME WHO I'VE EVER SEEN SAY THAT. Slim Shady is all set up flows and punch lines. . IDENTICAL to Big L's format.. And mother fuckers doubt me when I say that and say ''Nah he got it from AZ, NAs.'' He 100% was mostly influenced by Big L and what's crazy to me is I've never seen EM admit it or say it. He says everyone else but Big L.
@@unclebob2792 Big L is a punchline artist. Eminem is more metaphorical. Eminem even said his biggest inspiration was big daddy kane so I don't where yall come up with this goofy shit.
I don’t know if I believe L would’ve signed to the Roc, that 97 Freestyle line “You ain’t a player, put that cigar out/ Take that suit off..” seems directed at Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt album cover.
