I read Kranz's book "Failure Is Not An Option" back in 2015 and it was life changing. Such an incredible book. I never in a million years thought I would get the opportunity to meet him. One of the great honors of my life was meeting Mr. Kranz in April of this year at the Lonestar Flight Museum. Amazing.
I'm almost done with it. I have never read a book that put me in someone's world view so well. I feel like I've sat down with him and listened to his stories. His style is clean, well organized, and yet surprisingly real in its emotions. His dedication to his controllers, his mission, and to America in the most sincere and unpolitical way is truly inspiring. No jaded jingoism, just a love of his country and his people that shines through a man that gets pumped up by humming "Stars & Stripes Forever" to himself on his way to do the big job. He makes me want to be the best at whatever I'm doing.
sorry bub, he is a fraud and the apollo missions were in fact the biggest hoax in the history of mankind check out the doc american moon and you will see the truth on your beloved moon landing fantasy
I love how sharp he is at almost 90. You can see it in his eyes when he’s retelling the stories…for him he’s seeing every detail like it just happened. Very cools dude.
The level of detail this guy still has in his head about the systems and hardware is amazing. How can people possibly believe that we didn't go to the moon and that he's lying about all of this detail. Absolutely astonishing that people still believe we didn't go.
"How can people possibly believe that we didn't go to the moon and that he's lying about all of this detail." When somebody is saying "the moon hoax", this is like punching all of the gemini and apollo program in the face, also it dishonour the deaths of the apollo 1 crew!
@@markoj3512as a kid I watched the president picked up a hand dialer analog phone , dialed 1-800-moon and buzz got pist off at the President for bothered him on the moon with a phone call, even as kid in grade skool I didnt buy that,
Christmas morning and this popped up on my feed. I couldn't have asked for a better gift. Mr. Kranz is one of our living national treasures, and a role model that future generations should emulate. God bless him and his memories.
Simply a legend. He is an extraordinary person. I was 15 years old and Apollo 11 and the subsequent missions was one of mankind’s greatest achievements. Like the large hadron Collider.
What a beautiful man of brilliance with an uncompromising focus on teamwork. Timeless values that we need back at NASA to resume human spaceflight back to the Moon and onto Mars!!
Always cool as a cucumber and sharp as a tack under the most stressful conditions. An absolutely legendary figure in the space program. Huge respect to this man. One thing I've never understood is that when the Apollo 11 lunar module ran low on fuel on landing, where did the fuel come from to get them back off the moon? It's not like there was an Exxon station on the moon
I’m not sure but as far as I believe it they had a descent fuel tank down to the moon and an ascent fuel tank back up to the command module. They might have been completely separate so you couldn’t use one fuel tank for the other. Or that if you used some of the ascent fuel there wasn’t enough to get back to the command module. Something like that.
The LM is a two stage rocket. The lower stage gets you down. It then functions as the launch pad for the upper stage which gets you back up. Each stage has its own fuel.
As much as a great Man Gene Kranz is,people seem to forget other flight directors like Glynn Lunney. Lunney was the REAL hero of Apollo 13,but he is never mentioned which is a real shame.
I'd say there was no one REAL hero of Apollo 13. The White and Black teams did great work as the accident occurred and in the hours after. All the teams did great work throughout the rest of the mission. As well as Lovell, Haise, and Swigert. And the astronauts on the ground who supported the recovery effort. Several of the documentaries I've watched mention Lunney, and include him in the interviews, which is good.
I think the movie caused that, because they put all their focus on Kranz. I agree with Wedge, that was a team effort. But I still believe Kranz cursed and kicked the garbage can. 😁
@@jrussellcase They also made it look like Ken Maddingly and John Aaron were the only two that developed the startup procedures. Clearly there were dozens of people involved, but movies have to keep things simple.
Feb 7th 2022 I just watched this for first time. What a guy! Excellence is his Moto. Great to listen to him, and relive the the wonders of getting to the moon. They did it. Phil Collins Everett Wa age 68
My childhood and Adulthood heroe. He remembers me the benefits of effort, to never give up, and hard work ALWAYS return you the best . Happy birthday Mr Kranz. God bless you
This is a curse…, I and most decent men I know grew up on these guys… this level of integrity, professionalism…, now in our 60s.. we look around and see a complete lack integrity, competence , near common narcissism… it’s sad.. I grew up under a Ww2 RNZAF vet.., he spoke of see/ working with the USMC , the Aussies.., the peoples of the Pacific nations…. People of immense courage n selflessness.. Still must remember there are amazing people everywhere…, maybe I need to change me sandpit… Great vid.., super privilege🙏🙏🙏🙏
I just finished reading his book, Failure is not an option, great great book, an awesome professional, I would have loved to work and learn from/with him.
Gene Kranz, a total superstar. Some more respect from the UK. Thank you Mr Kranz. I was able to visit the space center twice, unfortunately the 2nd time was on the dreadful Sept 11th .. got evacuated! I think I still have the refund ticket but it's a long way from the UK & refund didn't include flights! LOL
Gene Kranz sits in a unique place in history: he presided over the most heart-stopping Apollo landing on the moon. And he presided over the most heart-stopping Apollo landing on Earth (Apollo 13). In my opinion, he is all time MVP of the Apollo Program. I so admire this tough and competent man.
To be such a big part of the Apollo 11 success is just incredible, but Gene Kranz also made a huge input in the successful recovery of the Apollo 13 crew. I think the latter was just as big a success as the Moon landing.
He's more important than some of the greatest military Generals. He helped put humans on another globe... and leader of saving 3 astronauts. He should be more famous than the Kardashians - who have done nothing to help humanity. And barely anyone knows his name! Can anyone remember the last human who walked on the moon??? Without looking at Google???.... yeah that's what I thought......... Pathetic.
It's located in Johnson Space Center. I've been inside there and sat at the same desk that Mr. Kranz is sitting at in this video. The volunteers who restored the room have done a remarkable job in making it look and feel just as it did during the Apollo missions 50 years ago.
I met this man and to this day he is still demonstrating how none of us have any excuse. I'd love it if he watched us land again on the moon. He also proves yet again that being 'old' is relative. If you're in your late 40s and think you can't get to NASA because you're too old, think again. We put a 72 year into outer space. Research and science do not discriminate.
“Americans have visited and examined 6 locations on Luna, varying in size from a suburban lot to a small township. That leaves more than 14 million square miles yet to explore.” -Neil Armstrong
Mr. Eugene F. Krantz is the archetype for NASA Flight Control Directors, and the most well known and well respected steely-eyed missile man to ever put on a headset.
@@blackhawk7r221 $10 and I'll show you my grey aliens, the ones that Buzz claimed was watching him on the moon, BTW the same peeps tell ya a guy is a women tell you we landed on the moon. And If youre real nice I'll have biden dial 1-800 moon and talk to nasa in outer space , that shit was hilarious and funnier yet is ppl STILL believed the Pres dialed the 1-800-moon to this day. Buzz said he was mad cuz he had to stop what he was doing to talk to the Pres,, now thats a important man rite there.
Myself and many others as well. Sadly so many many more who are yet to see the truth ofthe deceptions of this false reality realm we are kept mind controlled within
@jonaskrarup6590 His severely stressed face indicates he knew it was a show, I would bet. Not holding the head up straight, ears practically touching the shoulders, curling up into a ball to hide. Closed hands in front of him nearly 100% of the time as a protective barrier. If he leans back away from the interviewer, any further, trying to escape the interviewer, he will fall backwards. The interviewer is not leaning backwards. Legs out straight keeping the interviewer away from him, more barriers, fear. Fear of what, why the fear?
We went to the moon, 400,000 involved in NASA couldn't fake it, or lie, and you have a luner orbital reconnaissance camera proves it with the photos of the landing sites
Polygraph failed Interview the subject infront of vintage computer control panels for a realistic interview. He knows more about nothing than anything else. Why would we choose a man with FIVE children to oversee the moon landing?
