The penalties ok the crew members and Stenhouses dad are justified but I feel like Stenhouse shouldn't be penalized as much as he is. This is coming from a KB/Toyota fan who isn't a huge fan of Stenhouse.
It’s the threat , Nick Sanchez did the same thing made a threat waited and carried it out . Heat of the moment is one thing waiting for over 2hrs and than carrying it out is different.
Stenhouse admitted to his premeditated plan. If Stenhouse knew how to keep his mouth shut, he wouldn't have been fined. NASCAR uses the fight for promotion because they don't actually care if drivers fight, as long as it's not premeditated. If you watched the video instead of reacting to headlines, you'd know this.
@@GlitchunlockedThe crews and Ricky’s dad should of not gotten involved! I think Kyle’s crew member pushing people off the truck should’ve gotten penalized!
Everyone needs to like this comment! You got some random asshole that’s completely irrelevant in todays NASCAR that get in and the majority of yesteryears greats go unnoticed
@@themetalfusionologist I was going going to post a similar comment. It would be be nice to honor some of the 70s and 80s guys while they are still here.
@@jeremyharper3462 this is true, the past guys weren’t any “better” than anyone of today. But these guys are literally PIONEERS of NASCAR. Without the list of any single driver of that period, NASCAR would be nowhere near what it is today. They all wrote and broke the rules, set the president for what we know and how the sport is run today. Carl Edward’s isn’t a bug on Harry Gants, Ricky Rudd, numerous others I can’t remember off hand, shoe. But he definitely did nothing that ANY of those older guys did that either haven’t even been on the ballot or keeps getting bypassed year after year. If they just let anybody in, it’s not a “Hall of Fame”…it’s just a list
Agreed. If not Gant, then Neil Bonnett. These guys are and were integral as “ambassadors” to the sport. What the hell has Carl done, post-driver career?
I'd throw him $5 if he keeps starting fights. I dont care for him as a driver, but hes the only driver I've seen throw a decent punch in the last 2 seasons so he's got some respect from me.
Pay to see him wreck the 8 car. And then see what old man dick childress does , and see what nascar penalty crapcar hands out. Ricky would have to do it early, seeing how Kyle has been wrecking himself every week lately and running at the back of the field.
Richard Childress should worry about his grandson running 30th each week in the 3 car and wasting away Kyle Busch each week instead of worrying about fighting dirty.
Great for ford fans, unless you are one of the nascar fans that don't care who wins as long at they put on a good race? or are you one that want the best drivers to sandbag so the others can put on a good race. Who would you have preferred won the race?
@@fred-ts9pb Woah woah woah Freddy. Take it easy. As much as I love my Fords, the race itself was a snoozefest. I enjoy the competition side of races. I don't look at it through the lesnse of manufacturer fanboys. You are fired up Freddy. Love it!!!
The difference between this fight and other recent fights were that other fights were right on pit road and immediately after drivers got out of their cars. This fight was "premeditated" and Wrecky had 2 hours to plan his moves and gather up his "guys"
What people don't understand is the reason Ricky got fined is because he had 2 hours to cool down and was even texting other drivers saying he was going to fight Kyle after the race it was premeditated vs heat of the moment
I think people are shocked that Kyle didn't get any sort of penalty. The next gen car is known to be more violent in crashes, and Kyle intentionally sent Ricky head-on into the wall. Being a non-points race, I understand not suspending Kyle. But there should have been a fine.
@@HDFXSB645 he did not intend to send ricky into the wall. like he said in the interview he meant to rattle his cage. also on the track, he hooked ricky on the left. he should’ve went to the left and just spun but ricky overcorrected himself into the wall- that’s ricky’s fault not kyle’s.
It was an exhibition race and a short track. That's why no penalty for Busch. Stenhouse used to wreck everyone and get away with it, payback is a bitch.
I don't have a problem with the penalty for Ricky as long as they penalize Busch how they have penalized others who have intentionally wrecked someone. Unfortunately, they didn't.
@@johnhaas2523 that’s the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. So you’re saying he isn’t risking Ricky’s safety or the others around him unnecessarily because it’s a short track? You must also think he’s not altering the outcome of an event because it’s just the All-Star race and points don’t matter.
@@pjacquesracinghaven't most of the penalties for intentional wrecking been right rear hooks. Kyle gave him the bumper, but it was stenhouse who over corrected into the wall.
@@Andy-zc1dp I don't care if Stenhouse overcorrected. If he hadn't been intentionally put in that position he would not have wrecked. Look, I don't care for either... I'm calling it as I see it. Both should have gotten penalties. Even if matching. It was intentional contact.
@pjacquesracing it's a short track. That's the nature of short track racing. People give people the bumper and move them out of the way. By your logic, every time someone get the bumper at a short track and they lose control, someone should get penalized. Should Hamlin have been penalized for giving Elliott the bumper a few years back at Martinsville. That's just one example. Kyle gave him a bump, and Stenhouse overcorrected. And Stenhouuse deserved the penalty because he premeditated. It wasn't a heat of the moment punch.
I would’ve been okay if both parties got a fine, but you can’t just ignore what Busch did on track especially considering he’s done that exact same move in the past
The difference being that Busch said he wasn't trying to wreck Ricky, while Ricky admitted the fight was premeditated. If Busch admitted he was trying to wreck him, he'd get fined/suspended too. And it doesn't matter if we all know it was on purpose if Busch doesn't admit it. Busch used the same playbook Earnhardt used, for better or worse.
Because Kyle didn't hook him into the wall. He laid the bumper to him and it was very clear that Stenhouse overcorrected himself into the wall. He then waited 198 laps and decided to take a cheap shot at Busch while the two were talking.
Because Ricky clearly premeditated the punch and from his interview probably intentionally ran Kyle up the track to provoke him. The apple didn’t fall far from the tree either. Ricky’s father doesn’t seem to respect his privilege either. Parents don’t belong in fights between kids.
My biggest problem with rulings is that Kyle Busch didn’t get anything for “intentionally wrecking” another car. Kyle made no bones about the fact that he was trying to wreck Ricky. When Denny was dumb enough to admit it, he got fined for it.
Harry Gant was one of the true personalities of the sport. He was not only a driver, but the type of character that attracted fans to the sport. He was in the mold of Earnhardt and DW but without the rough edges. I cannot believe he is being ignored.
@@cjfastfootthe thing with these new cars is they snap very easily when put sideways. All the drivers know that and KB knew what he was doing, he hit the left rear and continued to drive into it until the snap happened.
There is 1 MAJOR difference between the Crafton-Stenhouse comparison. Crafton had the capability to actually leave the track and cool off, Stenhouse didn’t, and that was mentioned on the broadcast. At NWB, the only exit is the backstretch gate, which isn’t opened until after the race. So, I can only imagine being wrecked early and then being forced to sit around and wait to leave doesn’t exactly help you cool off.
Stenhouse was in a lose/lose situation by calling his shot. He could have done nothing and would have been called out for not being a man of his word. Instead he was a man of his word and gets fined because it was premeditated. The only way to avoid the situation is to either not cut off Kyle or don't overcorrect when you know a retaliation punt is coming.
Doesn't give you the right to crash somebody in return when you're car isn't hardly damaged, and could still run. That's what makes me dislike Kyle even more.

Not only did Stenhouse/his team lose money to a junked race car, but now they have a $75,000 fine for something NASCAR has been promoting for 4 days straight. Absolutely ridiculous.
Totally disagree Eric! Stenhouse could not leave, he wasn't waiting, he was trapped in the infield and 25k is a hell of a lot less than 75k. Busch had it coming and he should have been fined for intentionally wrecking Stenhouse. NASCAR blew it on this one.
Ricky was the best Road Racer in the early 80s. One year he allowed Tv to mount a camera pointed at his feet. He later said he wished he didn't do it because many drivers improved by watching his footwork on the pedals.
NASCAR fines Stenhouse for fighting but Busch gets off free as a bird for intentionally wrecking Stenhouse for doing nothing wrong. Do not mess with NASCAR’s favorites, Busch, Wallace, and Hamlin, or you will get severely punished.
Good take on the penalties Eric. I’m with you 100% basically. I was saying that all day on X. I was shocked by some of the feedback from people on X. Glad to see some of us are sane in the community
@@johnhaas2523 I have seen you say this over and over in other comments. Should Kenseth not have been parked after he wrecked Logano at Martinsville in '15? Literally does not matter that it's a short track when drivers have been suspended at short tracks for wrecking others on purpose. Stop defending Busch with that weak argument.
Eric. You know, as well as EVERYONE else, Ricky had no choice but to wait the race out.. According to Ricky, (Stacking Pennies Podcast) he had no intention of fighting. But the way that Kyle acted set him off. Corey LaJoie agrees.
Where was Stenhouse going to go? He had to stick around until the end of the race to leave. There is no tunnel to leave from, he had to wait. Busch should have been fined for taking Stenhouse out for no reason. Because he thought Stenhouse hit him is no excuse.
I'm surprised NASCAR didn't even penalize Roudy for his intentional taking out Ricky, not only one attempt but the second one. KB always gets away with purposely wrecking his competition.
I used to be a Edwards fan, but after the way he quit he has no business in the hall of fame ever !!!! Ricky Rudd was a shoe in and I would have put Handsome Harry in as well.
Well he did wait around for hours to throw the first punch. You can't just let the teams fight like that with all the equipment there, in the heat of the moment, sure. But it should be driver v driver, not driver v driver, his dad, 2 crew members on a loading deck with jacks and tires there. The dad should have ended up in cuffs in my opinion, he isn't part of the crew, he isn't the owner, he isn't a driver and he had 0 business even being there after so much time passed.
You feel old. I remember when Kevin Harvick, Jeff Burton, Jeff Gordon, Dale Jr, Kenny Wallace, And many more started. Let alone retired. I remember the Kings last race. I remember the Kings last win. Damn I am old.
Agree that it was a year or so too early for Carl. Too bad that he walked away from NASCAR after retiring. Also agree that $75K was too much for Ricky. Expected around $50K since he waited and then took action.
You left out the part about Kyle purposefully dumping Ricky with a bumper hook. The same manuver that Bubba Wallace used to wreck the golden child last year and got a suspended for.
Ricky didn't just walk up and throw a punch. He actually looked pretty conservative at the start while explaining he never touched Kyle. I couldn't hear what Kyle said right before Ricky swung, but that's what pushed him over the edge.
One thing a lot of people are not talking about in regards to the on track incident between Kyle and Ricky is that Ricky may not have touched Kyle's car but he tried to go three wide at North wilkesboro which is not narrow enough for three cars safely and gave Kyle no room and even the former drivers in the broadcast booth pointed out that he shouldn't have tried to go three wide in that corner and by doing that he forced Kyle into the wall. That's one thing a lot of people are not keeping in mind..
I feel like a lot of people are being too negative on Carl Edwards induction. 28 wins in just 12 1/2 years, 38 Xfinity wins and an Xfinity title with 6 consecutive top 3 points finishes in Xfinity and 3 years in cup where he probably should've won the title (2008, overall better season than Johnson, 2011 tied points with Stewart, 2016 wrecked out in championship race). I think the Hall of Fame letting in good not great drivers like Ryan Newman, Kasey Khane and Jeff Burton would degrade the hall, but Carl Edwards isn't one of those drivers.
This screams of picking sides. If we are fining from this incident then why is Busch not suspended for hooking Stenhouse? That is the precedent right. We suspend drivers for one race for hooking other drivers right? Well, Busch should be suspended. And suspending Stenhouse's dad is ridiculous. He was trying to break it up. Why is the crewmember that was throwing people off the hauler not suspended for the year?
Difference here is that crafton tapped nick on the shoulder and punched him before he said anything. These drivers were already having a conversation and then the fight started theres a difference. Shouldnt matter if its premeditated, if you want to settle it, then settle it. 75k is too steep. Also, crew members being suspended 1-2 months is way more than when joey's member threw denny to the ground. You spoke a clear message in your review and said maybe a small fine but had no problem with the fight. Now you say everything is justified. Alright then.
I'm one of those 87% for Rudd. I was determined to get him in. I voted for Gant because I figured Carl was a lock, and Harry had a slightly better record than Neil Bonnett, and I want to show him some love.
It’s about time for Ricky Rudd. To win a race for 16 consecutive years for multiple teams including his own is impressive. Certainly well deserved and long overdue.
Since Nascar Demolition Derby fines drivers and crew members the smart option is to not say or do anything after being wrecked. Don't do anything that gives them free publicity. Just simply wreck the other driver the first chance you get. It does NOT get punished in any way and saves you money. BE SMARTER....
So happy to hear that Ricky Rudd will be inducted into the HOF. I always appreciated him on track. As for the fight, Eric's thoughts basically mirror my own. I agree with the fine. I think Ricky was foolish in that Kyle didn't say anything to trigger the punch, showing it was a foregone conclusion. But also it was dumb to expect Kyle to see things differently immediately after getting out of the car, which is rarely a good time for that. The difference with Reddick the week before is he knew he messed up. But I also agree it's a bad look to promote it if it's not allowable.
