Very entertaining series - sad to think this was so many years ago and these guys have aged that much and some passed on since this was done. Very nice that a bunch of these stories have been imortalized in the videos. I am sure some later and current Nascar personalities could tell some good stories and have fun too - but pretty sure they couldn't top these old legends! Most of these guys weren't just drivers, a lot were crack mechanics that knew how everything on the car worked. Stuff like this is a lost art in the big leagues today. Can't blame the drivers, it has just become too complex and hi-tech, amazing stories anyway!

The Ned Jarrett story at the end was the best. This is a great series, any racing fan not just NASCAR fans would have a great respect for this form of racing after watching this!

This is the greatest. This is the NASCAR that I feel in love with and made me a fan. These guys are so real and you could relate to them. This WOKE BS racing they do now is horrible. Hard to believe that 2 generations of France's built it and only took 1 to destroy it. Hell Daytona and Talladega was not even 1/4 full.

22:35 Amen! Spot on point that is even more relevant today! Daytona & Talladega are performance capped tracks, you just need to endure until 10 to go and hope you survive the final wreck that will happen. Nobody can do anything before that anyway to get an edge to win.

Amen Dave Marcis! They never talk about cubic inches at Teladaga (and other super speedways. Daytona. Indy.)! All these NASCAR engines are custom made. Every one! Why can’t NASCAR simply say super speedway engines are restricted to, say, 300 inches, or 265 inches, and abandon the restrictor plates and just let the crews be creative and let’em race⁉️ Let’em use any carb, any diff gear for instance. Bring innovation back‼️ Back off NASCAR‼️ You’re the problem‼️ Stop micromanaging every aspect of the cars and the fans will come back‼️ Stop the “demolition racing” or “pack racing” where “the big one” is the star of the show style of racing on these stupid 2 1/2 mile monstrosities. Limit cubic inches and step back‼️ (I won’t go to a “Super speedway” track. You can buy the best seat in the house and you still can’t see any more than one strait away and one curve. The rest of the time you’re watching the Megatron. Stay home! Watch your own TV!)

Mike Hagen based on ratings and money earned it peaked in 2005 and has been going downhill since. The 80’s-early 2000’s were definitely the biggest growth. Wish there was more tv in the 50s-70s to watch. Would’ve been amazing to see.
