Trackhouse is winning at everything this year. I think using an RCR scheme on throwback weekend while RCR itself does nothing is a symbolic way of declaring who is the 2nd-best Chevy team in NASCAR.
Justin said on Dale Jr’s podcast they had to recreate the polar bear artwork because they couldn’t find it anywhere, and it cost them $30,000 something extra to recreate them. Apparently they don’t build models or race NR2003, because the artwork is out there.
@@johnhopkins6565 More than likely Coca-Cola doesn't keep it officially. If you're making paints on your own time you can rip from whatever assets are available without fear of copyright issues, but businesses like Trackhouse have to fear the legal repercussions of using third-party work, even if it is their sponsor's trademark. TV channels get in trouble a lot for "accidentally" using fan art of their own shows.
@@thedragonofdalzell it’s because of Teresa Earnhardt. She has turned into the devil of nascar basically. She doesn’t want anything used on the racetrack that has to do with dales 3 and jrs 8. That’s why they didn’t throwback to that. She’s mostly the reason why track house had to ad the slash in the 1 car
Alex Bowman's paint scheme is marvelous, but William Byron's makes my inner child cry out in joy. My childhood smiles while crying when I see the flame Dupont throwback
Teams: Can we move the door numbers back to the middle for this weekend? NASCAR: No. Teams: Can we use three-digit numbers, even though those aren't allowed and it doesn't even match our number that will be used for this race? NASCAR: That's a-ok!
Bitch has nothing better to do then just wait and watch like a hawk till the day someone tries to pay tribute to her husband and his incredible company and legacy that HE built and not her. Just to inflict pain on the fans and the sport. World will be slightly better when she is gone.
I’d really love to see someone run Terry Labonte’s classic Red, Yellow, and Green Corn Flakes scheme. Unfortunate it would be completely incompatible with the new number placement though.
Teams need to let designers design schemes which pay homage to the old schemes, BUT that work on the Next Gen body and with the numbers slid forward. Cloning schemes doesn't work anymore.
Nope!!!! A throwback is a THROWBACK TO HISTORY THUS HONORING THAT TIME PEROID & THAT DRIVER, THROWBACK MUST B AS CLOSE TO ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE INCLUDING NUMB FONT!!!! PLACEMENT IS DUE TO THIS CAR BEING BASICALLY A HOT HATCH WITH SMALL REAR CLIP!!! SOME TEAMS NAILED IT WITH FORWARD NUMBER!!! 1,5,24,9,17,42,45,99 to name a few!!!
The Trackhouse schemes throwing back to the Japan exhibition in 1998 with Coca-Cola is easily my personal favorite. It’s too bad the Mythical Wicked Witch Of The South made them edit the number on Chastain’s car. 😒
Yeah, I don’t see Teresa taking on Coca Cola, if the paint scheme bothers her… but she might have a legitimate licensing issue with the DEI number font - the ONLY thing she could have “a right” to bitch about…
Sponsorship contracts are a fickle thing. Ally's the primary for all 36 races on the 48. And Valvoline's not the primary on the 24 or the 5 either this week. So...it wasn't exactly possible unfortunately 😓
I can think of a reason why. Look at how much press and attention these throwback schemes get for this weekend. If you're a company like Ally, you absolutely want to be the primary sponsor on the car for this race because you're going to be able to maximize the exposure you get from being a primary sponsor compared to some other races. So I'm sure Ally would not want to be giving up that amount of exposure. Could you imagine being a company who is the primary sponsor for almost every race of the season for a driver and giving up the 1 race that could arguably be the one that would get you the most exposure for your brand from a paint scheme for the entire year? I'd definitely have a really hard time giving that up if I was the sponsor.
21:30 I am so glad they finally threw back to this paint scheme. My favorite paint scheme of all time finally gets the throwback it deserves. Easily my favorite throwback ever.
Yeah I'm glad JGR finally decided to do a true Labonte throwback instead of the 94-96 scheme. Still hoping for a 2000 Championship throwback eventually
Harrison burton pops 90’s scheme big time and was one of the few I actually liked. I’m not a fan of young drivers throwing it back to themselves I think all of the schemes need to either be the heritage driver schemes or the 1970-2005 time frame. Some of these are just way to recent and feel more like “what was my favorite scheme in my 4 year cup career?”
You said that you were a newer NASCAR fan, I have only been watching races since 2020! But the DECS and other stop motion series got me into the sport, so thank you!
Niece Motorsports is throwing it back to Jeff Gordon's 2007 Department of Defense scheme... looks really good. For DGR Hailie Deegan's (bobby allison) and Ryan Preece's (Reggie Ruggiero) throwbacks also look amazing
1:50 EXACTLY- I participated in that pole they took a while back and one of the options was Kyle's 2008 scheme and I said that since it's gis last year with them, they should throwback to where they started, but the 1998 one is still cool too
8:52 Eric, the reason they didn't choose to run the exact scheme Jason Leffler won in is because Kurt Busch already ran a throwback to that car back in 2015.
I almost thought Custer was doing a throwback to Mike bliss the dude who drove the zero car that had a scheme that his throwback scheme reminded me alot of
I'm not a Sr or Jr fan. I pulled for Dale Jarrett and Ryan Newman. But those Track House throwbacks put me in my feelings lol. I think I just miss 1998.
Got a few home runs this year!!! Petty/GMS NAILED IT!!! Especially the 42. Really LOVE Corey Lajoie Marty Robbins car. You gotta love the "original" Hendrick scheme for Larson. Same with the old school Jimmy Means look for Chase...LOVE IT!!! And I agree with you on 2 schemes...love the "correct" font on the 17 car... beautiful car, and Track House hit the GRAND SLAM with the Earnhardt tributes!!!
As a bubba Wallace fan I prefer the McDonald paint scheme but it's fine I guess I mean Wallace teammate Kurt Busch has the McDonald's paint scheme I wish they switched it for bubba to have the McDonalds and Kurt gets that. But it's fine...
Nice to see somebody remember Tim Richmond, he was never really given a credit of the driver that he was, NASCAR did try to blackball him, and then found out the truth Aids but NASCAR never gave him the justice he really deserved as a driver
As a lifelong Jeff Gordon fan, it is hard not to pick that one as a favorite. I dig the Tim Richmond throwback Larson is running who I have been following since Gordon's retirement. The 24 and the 5 are my favorite drivers so nothing will change, also my favorite schemes for the throwbacks! Team Hendrick! Team Larson! 24Ever!
A lot of great paint schemes this year. The entire series knocked it out of the park. They really did their homework and found some obscure ones that look super sharp. During the Winston Cup era, RJ Reynolds kept a few show cars for promotional appearances that had pretty cool paint jobs. I'd love to see somebody throwback to one of those cars and recognize everything Winston did for NASCAR. I'll be at Darlington this weekend. I hope y'all enjoy it as much as I will.
I love those Petty-GMS cars but I don't understand why they put the HP number on the hood of the 42 car that matches the original, but didn't do that on the 43 car? The 43 car should say 277. Like I legit love these schemes and the attention to detail they had in so many places but I don't get why they modernized that one. Eric, I don't think you mentioned it, but this isn't just a throwback to any old Lee and Richard Petty cars but it's specifically throwing it back to the 1959 Inaugural Daytona 500 which both Lee and Richard raced in and Lee won. When you compare each of these cars to the originals, they are really nailing it in a lot of ways. I love that they even moved the name from above the door to below it on the 43 car to match the original since the original was a convertible. AND they added the "That Jones Boy" nickname to match the original which had Richard's nickname "Squirrel". It's like they matched almost everything that they could but then changed the HP number for Jones? I didn't understand that part but overall, so awesome.
Gonna comment again and hope they see the light next year. Nascar needs to never interfere with number placements on older schemes during throwback weekend ever again.
I really hope that Petty GMS does a throwback to Bobby Hamilton’s blue and silver 25th anniversary Richard Petty car. Although I think Erik Jones’s 2021 tribute to John Andretti will always be my favorite throwback, I’d like to see Bobby Hamilton get some love too.
My #1 is the Ty Dillon 42. Talk about old school. Back to the 50's. The orange arrow really makes it pop. Kind of disappointed of the #21. There are decades of Wood Brothers schemes out there to pick from.
YOU didn't mention Joey Logano's throwback with a throwback to the first racecar Joey Logano drove in & won. SAME COLOR (BURGUNDY, NOT RED) & other minute details.
Watch Dale Jr. Dirty Mo segment released about 3 hrs ago. Justin Marks duplicated the cars Jr. & Sr. drove in Japan. The numbers 1 & 99 were their cars. He unveils this to Jr. on the show---check out how they had to literally recreate the Polar bear........
I'm very biased to Cindric's look...only because I've been working for Menard's for the passed year so I like that one a lot, but I'll go with Suarez's just because of the color scheme
I am 5 9 135 lbs and have no idea what size nascar jacket to get. Do the sizes differ from old jackets to new ones? Looking for a nice Jimmie Johnson jacket. Need help
I still wish Joey Logano would run a Jac Haudenschild scheme already. Jac is one of the greatest dirt/sprint car racers of all time, had Pennzoil as a major sponsor, and ran the #22 on his car for much of his career. Figured that would be a no-brainer.
some of these are so bad this year, cindrics is a complete joke, bubbas doesnt look anything like the car hes throwing back too !! n dnt get me started on bell throwing back to himself from 5 years ago !!!!!
I love the old school scenes with the horsepower on the hood. Its an era that rarely gets the paint scheme love, And those Earnhardt throwbacks are fantastic.
There are so many of these throwbacks that I am so excited to watch race this weekend. The Trackhouse ones may be my number 1 pick for best throwbacks, but I am quite disappointed Truex, who is my favorite driver, isn't running one this year as far as I know and will just run his primary 2022 Auto-Owners scheme on Sunday. But who knows, maybe they'll come out of nowhere and surprise me yet but regardless, yet another incredible year for throwbacks. So much credit to all the teams running one this year!
