Strung up my Jameson 6 string banjo with Nashville Tuning. I like it! I’m usually a DR string guy but I needed a string swap fast and only had D’Addario strings leftover from when I used them a few years back. This banjo was under $200 from Amazon and gets the job done for me! Now with Nashville Tuning, I’ll def have more fun!

Over 20 years ago, a friend and I built my 6 string banjo using a Tele neck and a 5 string pot, connecting them with a machined aluminum piece he made. Since then, I've tried various strings and was never satisfied ... UNTIL I did Nashville tuning last year. EUREKA! It's now my favorite instrument - and easiest one - to play. Great sound, effortless low action. It's a hit whenever I play it out.

I’ve been thinking about this in order to make it sound more like a traditional banjo. Another thing I thought of is maybe replace the low e string with another high e string but I’m not sure if that be to much tension, as the smaller strings create more tension

Hey Circle Up, Here’s the trick: Railroad 5th string capo. Use a 5-string banjo railroad spike at the 5th fret like many 5-stringers use at the 7th 9th & 10th. I figured since the 1st and 5th strings in a 5-string set are usually the same gauge, I’d give it a try. Works fine by me. Gives that sort 5th string sound on your 6th sting.
