Almost every RU-vidr heads to Wanjo for their first try of nasi lemak. As a local, Wanjo is so overrated for me. There's way better nasi lemak elsewhere.
Locals tend to forget foreigners usually not used to spicy nasi lemak, Wanjo’s offers the sweeter and less spicy version for them to experience nasi lemak. I don’t like spicy sambal. I agree Village Park is overrated, and I agree there’s better nasi lemak too. But Wanjo is not bad actually and most locals actually just didn’t like the sweet sambal. Their dishes actually pretty decent.
I never tried village park or wanjo nasi lemak.. I always get nasi lemak from small street stall.. Even that already satisfy me very much, I wonder how wonderful the taste would be at wanjo or village park..
@@hungrytoexplore Mate, I had to choose the second place. You ate with your hands🤲, it was proper. I would be happy with just a plate with fried anchovies and coconut rice too.😋
I vote for the 2nd nasi lemak. Salute u for eating with hand... u got the tecniques right bro...and yes theres slight difference between one nasi lemak to another. have fun staying in Malaysia... dont forget to try other local dishes..😊😊
yes! second one was the best of the two. I tried to eat with my hand but I just prefer with a spoon and fork haha. I just don't like that feeling of food on my hands hahaha
Watching this I can't help but noticed how much more comfortable you have become , talking to the camera while being in the public, Joe. Good on you!!! Food looks good, but no, I don't like my food too sweet neither. Being a Thai person, my food has to have all 4-5 flavors to it. 😁
haha definitely more comfortable Panna, but I haven't filmed in a long time now... months. I am going to be back like a robot again. But yeah, that second Nasi Lemak was great
Great gastronomical indulgence bro,to me as local n grew with it nasi lemak in an unending explorations of it's different twists, every nook n cranny of d makings cn give u different flavour, oughtta keep d quest lol ....yours looks prtty toothsome too
Your information .. chilli paste some people do they put some of brown sugar or normal sugar..reason to make the taste balancing with the spicy and sour..
You have to be ready to gain a few around the waist whenever you visit malaysia for more than just one day, but no worries at all, once back in UK/europe you guys can always walk them off 😬
I have screenshot the gp name, unfortunately I did not screenshot the part where they use ur video, I blocked the gp. It was via whatapp btw. So be careful.
@@widadomar1252 that is interesting because I have been seeing views from WhatsApp. That is very odd. can you find me on instagram and share the screenshot? Joe Parrilla
You soo busy don't want to see your hands got some food!!!! But you not realize that, your right hand that got foods on it at the end of your eating period you MUST LICK YOUR FINGERS AND THAT'S THE MOST HEAVENLY TASTE FOR US HUMAN BEINGS AND FOR US MALAY MUSLIMS PEOPLES, THAT'S BEFORE YOU WASH YOUR HANDS WITH SOAP AND WATER.
Wanjo is overrated BUT it’s a fairly good benchmark for first timers to try Nasik lemak. But once u start living in Malaysia and you try various nasi lemak stalls everywhere in the country you’d understand why we can eat nasi lemak everyday. There is so much variety in styles of cooking rice, styles of dishes served with it and of course there are sambal that mean business, no sweetness and more kick
you are right... that was exactly my aim. To benchmark it against one deemed famous before trying the one I found which looked interesting. For me, the second nasi lemak restaurant was much better
Every shop have their own recipes for sambal; some overly sweet while some is very spicy. There are also some who like runny sambal rather than thick rich sambal. You just have to find the shop that is to your liking.
...dulu mase teman duduk di kampong ni takde le 'wanjo' ke 'kak chuk' ke yg ade 'nasi lemak internatinal' aje...mahe le malaun ni mamam, teman paling mahe lime ringgit aje...
Tip if you eat NASIK OR WHAT EVER with your hand!!! Bring your food in your hand, make your hand parallel to your mouth!!! Do not make your hand lower or above your mouth then simpl put that food into your mouth. Remember that "ONLY YOUR HAND THAT MOVING FORWARD OR BACKWARD!!! Not your head nor your mouth.
Nasi lemak, is definitely one of the best street food in Malaysia, and it's one of my all time fav comfort food. Somehow, the nasi lemak Kak Chuk looked amazing. Lovely vlog.
@Joe.Parrilla yes my dear you miss out the important ingredients Peanuts for Nasi Lemak 💖 I highly recommend is Village Park Nasi Lemak must try because is Ledgendnary SSR Nasi Lemak 😋😋😋
You’re not wrong about the sweet sambal.. I myself can’t handle sweet flavours in savoury dishes especially when it comes to sambal.. for your information most of the restaurants that serves Nasi Lemak dishes their sambal is not authentic anymore because they try to make it less spicy and can be accepted by foreigners taste buds.. and it’s actually quite disappointing for me.. I’m growin up in Serdang area when I was little which is my breakfast is only nasi lemak from the various stall.. it kinda brought some flashback into my mind which back then the sambal isn’t as sweet as it is now.. I might say sometimes not sweet at all it’s truly spicy but I love the taste.. and one more thing stall Nasi Lemak in my opinion is better than in a restaurant especially wanjo.. for me Wanjo Nasi Lemak is not that good compare to Authentic Nasi Lemak.. the sambal should be spicy and rich.. not sweet and watery.. I hope in your journey here.. you’ll find the best Nasi Lemak here and hopefully you got a chance to try the authentic Nasi Lemak here.. have a beautiful day my friend
I went to wanjo and took normal nasi lemak with one piece of chicken only... no beef rendang... no paru... you wont believe me if i tell you how much they charged me... i will never go back there!!!
you are right I wanted to benchmark it against one deemed famous before trying the one I found which looked interesting. For me, the second nasi lemak restaurant was much better
I just had fish and chips for dinner last night, for £6.50, and to me that small corner shop has the best fish and chips that I have had the opportunity to taste so far! 👍
Homecooked nasi lemak is always the best. Nasi lemak used to be so simple with only an egg, cucumber, fried anchovies, fried ground nut and sambal, and only eaten for breakfast. Time has changed that now it is eaten at anytime of the day with loads of side dishes. For the rice, it is fragrant with pandan leaves and fenugreek seeds and cooked with a little oil to make sure it is cooked nicely and not lumpy. Some put lemongrass too. And sometimes the rice is steamed. Anyway, I hope you will find one that’s packed nicely in banana leave. It’s really good.
Oh no once you make Kak Chuk famous, she will go viral, people will come, she will have no time to cook slowly and lovingly... loss of another best kept secret... 😢... or is it going to be a good thing... And you get to eat on paper...😅
Thank you buddy... i will try Kak Chuk after this... wanjo is not my favourite anymore.... taste just so so... price also does not make sense there.... but with massive dishes you ate at Kak Chuk at only RM16... that's better...
That veggie is not kale its morning glory..and we dont mix everyting with rice like mixing salad bowl..u should take a bit of each dish separately wt d rice
Wanjo is the best for tourist. The food is really good and not spicy but not the best, it is above average. Always bring your visiting friends to Wanjo, there are a few reasons, firstly it is in a shop not by the street. The cleaning team in Wanjo is top notch and impressive. The shop setting looks clean and organised. For beginners the huge variety and taste is "awesome"(tourist taste bud), as I said good for tourist. This will be my first stop for my foreign visiting friends. Tourist will be impressed.
@@hungrytoexploreKak Chuk is good. As for the rice, Wanjo is better. If Kak Chuk has the rice of Wanjo, that would be the best nasi lemak in the city.
THE FRIED CHICKEN IS CALL .. AYAM GORENG REMPAH@CHICKEN FRIED WITH HERBs such..ginger..lemongrass..tumaric..curry powder or some chili powder..,salt..eggs etc..
The spices on that fried chicken consists of blended ginger, garlic, onions and lemongrass. It will be marinated and coated for a night before frying it.
👍😋😂🖐eating with hand is not my fav., the food looks delish !... but i prefer small portions - perhaps they think tall man big portion ?Thanks Joe keep on showing food stalls around KL !
MALAYSIA we have a diffrence type of RENDANG..rendang tok@very classic version in perak state .. rendang minang version NEGERI 9..very spicy..and Rendang merah..modern version this they used a lot of dry red chilli..but the basic ingredients is same ..coconut milk and kerisik..and others..
Nasi lemak wanjo, bagi saya biasa biasa je. Nasinya kurang sedap. Nasi lemak yang sedap, boleh dimakan kosong.. CONTOH TERBAIK. Nasi lemak direstoran RAMLAH , P8 Puyrajaya.. Tapi sambalnya manis sikit untuk kanak kanak pun boleh makan.. ❤❤❤
Nasi Lemak Professionally made is of course best dish. But in Malaysia we have so many signature delicious food, we don't often eat Nasi Lemak until occasionally feel we want to eat, we will go to eat. Although, I hope they also have more choices of stir fried vegetables.
Welcome to KL ❤ Love Nasi Lemak so much! Gravy or sambal anchovies / spicy stuffs that makes Nasi Lemak legend. Wanjo top famous spot for the tourist. Enjoy KL and stay safe
As a Malaysian, I find most of the dishes served here are too sweet. Especially the sambal. I don’t cook with any sugar. It’s a challenge to find a good sambal that’s not sweet. It’s a recent thing and I can’t understand why. Maybe people’s tastebuds have adapted to the sweetness. I find upscale restaurants serve dishes that are not as sweet. Anyway, have a great time eating in Malaysia. 😄 We have a saying here. Jalan- jalan cari makan. Going out looking for food. (Rough transition)
yeah, I really struggle with the sweetness, which is why in Thailand my first action is to reach for the chilli vinegar, but you don't have that option in Malaysia
Should try Malaysian famous roti canai with various styles and flavours; roti canai , roti Telor, roti sarang burung, roti boom, roti pisang, murtabak.. Btw roti canai is the best street food in the world 😋👍🇲🇾❤️
I will prefer going to more outskirt of Kuala Lumpur or small stalls in *kampung* area/villages bcos they sell more authentic flavours either the local kuih/appetizers(dessert)
