Solving the #Octordle for Thursday, March 10th. Octordle is like #wordle times 8! You have to solve eight words simultaneously, and each guess applies to all eight words. Check out my channel for more puzzle solving!
Thanks for introducing me to Octordle. I've been finding luck starting with FJORD, WALTZ, BUCKS, NYMPH, GIVER. It means I have to get every word right afterwards with no mistakes. It's fun!
Just noticed you hit 30k, congrats dude! Wonder which letter you'll forget the existence of next time lol Also would love to see you attempt a sedocwordle (not sure how to spell it lol) but I don't have any ideas on how you'd fit it on the screen, sorry
I first watched this video about six month ago, just after I began playing Octordle. With a little practice, Scott's NASTY-LIVER-GUMBO approach will consistently produce a score somewhere between 60 and 70. The game is set up so that the only way to break 60 is to correctly fill in one word within the first three guesses, so I always pause for a moment after entering NASTY and LIVER to see if I'm able to guess a word based on letters revealed. If no, then I proceed as usual; if yes, then guess #3 should be used to solve a word, and GUMBO can be plugged in as guess #4. Now, let's backtrack to the first two guesses and take more of an "I don't mind if I risk losing the game if the reward is getting a shot to break 60" approach. In this scenario, is it more important to discover all of the vowels or should I reveal more consonants? The answer should be fairly obvious to anyone who has watched Wheel of Fortune. We humans are simply better at using consonants instead of vowels to solve words. So ... let's improve our chances by using guesses #1 and #2 to display 8 consonants and two vowels (instead of the six consonants and four vowels appearing in NASTY and LIVER). For my fellow math geeks, that's a 33% increase in the number of consonants now revealed. As I type, I'm deciding on my opening words. Unless things have changed recently, the most frequently used letters in the English vocabulary are E-T-A-O-I-N-S-H-R-D-L-U. Taking out the vowels leaves T-N-S-H-R-D-L, and I'd call that a pretty good starting point. Perhaps SHORT as the first word and BLEND as the second word. I'll try to post a follow-up in about a month. For now, my goal is simply to increase my odds of being able to solve a word on guess #3.
Woxen: obsolete past participle of the verb "to wax." Not sure if that's as in, "she had woxen her legs before her date." Or "the moon had woxen before it wained."
Interesting. I usually follow your order pretty well, but today it was completely the opposite. I clutched the very last two guesses with FROST and THONG (which was definitely not the first thing to come to mind). I also had trouble remembering WOKEN and guessed WOVEN first, but didn't know WOXEN was a word.
I watch your videos after every wordle I do. Your channel has been the biggest help in my learning to complete wordle's and spin-off games. You should try a sedecordle. Wordle, but 16.
I think that you should use that one strategy you used on Wordle because there is 13 total guesses, and you need to find 8 words. You should start with: FJORD WALTZ QUICK GYRES NYMPH I think this is helpful, because you can almost always determine it, especially on Octordle.
I vote yes for septordle (or whatever it’s called) but we don’t need to see it all, if you just scroll around and we only see what you’re working on at the moment that works for me
These are pretty fun, it is a little harder on mobile for me since I don't scroll through them all for clues and can't see them all at once. I got this one on the last try also, I didn't think they'd use German words like spiel lol
Through exhaustive search, the best one I've found so far is "sonce bardy glift whump" (optimised for hellowordl as a fork of it is used for speedrunning)
READY LIONS THUMP (always my first 3 words) THONG (check) STORM FROST (check) FIGHT (check) BIDDY (check) BOWEL (check) ABOUT (check) SPIEL (check) WOVEN WOKEN (check) First time I've needed all 13 guesses.
I have been playing Octordle for a few days now (solved it each time) but I cannot figure out how the clues work in the remaining letters list. It is broken up into 4 sections but there are 8 games. Does anyone know how that populates?
I figured it out. The hints only refer to the top 4 games, the bottom 4 games are not highlighted in the remaining letters. That is very confusing and they should address that.
Octordle took up half your screen, why not just shrink your face cam and maybe make each puzzle a bit smaller for the 16 one? Great job today, octordle looks really difficut
