I love how all of the dancers being honored always "examine" the dancers doing the tributes to them. It's like they are going to give them notes a the end of the program backstage!

Makarova looks like a tough sell. Not a hint of a smile.

Time seems to stop during the Romeo and Juliet part. So wonderful

Makarova's face reflected that she was on stage working with them, not unusual for any trained, experienced dancer. And for any dancer who trained the others it is a curse and a blessing.

Natalia Markova was the greatest ballerina of her generation.

beautiful dancers, but so jarring to see the tiny snippets from such huge ballets. then seeing odile standing next to giselle o.o i concur with natalia's facial expressions.

Veronica Part....a Russian dancer who was a Principal Dancer at American Ballet Theater. She got let go, if Im not mistaken at the end of her career from ABT, I was shocked because she was dancing soo well to be let go.

Respectable and nice tribute...but it's hard to be transcendal such short slices of ballet ( except the Romeo & Juliet). Maybe that the lack of reaction of Makarova comes from that lack of transcendance and romantic mood. Maybe she is stressed also... Tyler Peck which I find the best, is a wonderful Balanchine virtuoso Ballerina, but Other Dances are about Russian art of épaulements, and this is frustrating.

She was trained at the Vaganova school where epaulament is stressed. She always had such beautiful arms an upper body carriage.

я конечно дико sorry, but они ни ХЭрра танцевать классику не умеют, а Макаровой поклон

She was not the greatest technician nor the best actor with this stunning artistry we the public were brainwashed to believe...I think her downer stone face started and stayed after she witnessed the extreme brillance of Tiler Peck in OTHER DANCES...Natalia never danced it quite as stunning as Tiler...The rest of that nights dancers were not intimidating or that brilliant...but Tiler is like no other...its that un namable quality...and it put miss m way off for the rest of the night...she was pissed...why wasnt I as good as Tiler...she was thinking and it read all over her sour puss face the rest of the show.

Why didnt makarova smile even once? She was not that amazing and only her defection and PR machine in the US made her a star...in Russia she would never have been as huge a star.

She was prima ballerina at the Kirov in the 60s. It doesn't get much better than that. From Wikipedia: "The History of Dance," published in 1981, notes that "her performances set standards of artistry and aristocracy of dance which mark her as the finest ballerina of her generation in the West."

Makarova was creepily stone faced. Disappointing.
