the bottom one is in rhythm! I watch that clip from the ballet all the time. The song that’s layered on top is too slow compared to the actual performance. :c
In the clip of 2020 the orchestra actually had to sped up to be in sync with the ballerina Osipova. Her performance was absolutely perfect btw, she's IS Giselle

I’m not trying to offend anyone nor do I know anything about ballet, but I do prefer the 2010 performance since it looks elegant and calming while 2020 feels rushed and too forced… 😅
Both clips are out of synch anyways. They basically are trying to make the girl at the bottom look like she’s rushing when she’s not in reality. It’s just 2 completely different parts of the dance :)
@@anormgryffyn3793 ❤️Thank you for explaining that! I definitely like the costume from 2010 a lot better! I just think the Fuller skirt is so much prettier and so much more reminiscent of the traditional ballet tutu. So I actually just like the outfit in 2010 better. Also why would the OP who made this video deceive us? I just don't get why someone would even lie about that?
They edited the clip and put the music out of sync so bottom would look rushed. You should watch the actual performance its much calmer. I do like 2010 though it’s really simple and elegant really nice to see.
In The Royal Ballet version, it feels like her leg is trying to play the violin and kick the bells. It seems more like she’s trying to dance the music itself rather than dancing WITH it. Idk if that makes sense I just woke up 😅
Holy crap one legged hops en pointe I could never!!!! Those are soooo hard bc you have to pull back the right amount, balance, while doing ballonnè, and performing all at once!!! Great job!!!
@Gary Allen soooo great question!! Ballonè literally translates to “ball like” and can be described as “A bouncing jump. The dancer lands on one leg in demi-plié. The working foot is Sur le cou-de-pied” but in English we can all understand lol exactly what the bottom dancer is doing. She’s en pointe, and almost beating her leg out and back in while her bottom foot is jumping. Now in pointe shoes you also have to pull back as I mentioned, which is honestly ankle cramping agony lol that’s why I’m so astounded! That move over and over repeated for so long can be soooo hard for people! Anyways, Sur le cou-de-pie is just a positioning of the foot that is going in and out, that translates to “around the neck of the foot” loosely. So the top foot wraps around the bottom foots ankle. It can be done from front side and back, but is most common front. Like how both of these dancers start. The one on the bottom also does some side. Hope this helps!!!!!!
The Bolshoi usually has my vote for technique and dancing and Russian musicality is impeccable. But the Royal Ballet’s production design is top tier. Their costumes and sets are always so beautiful and stunning.
I am not going to believe something that I am not, I know almost nothing about ballet, but if we consider the fact that I have improved my balance quite a bit, what a change I loved the presentation of the Royal ballet
I feel that a lot of people are miss judging the Royal Ballet version (just to be clear, I love both for different reasons). The music played in the video is for the tempo of the Bolshoi Ballet version so of course the dancing is going to be more musical. The RB version isn’t rushing. If anything, the RB tempo is more accurate to the tempo that would have been used in France in the 19th century when the ballet was originally created and performed. Giselle as a ballet and character is not defined by their “grace”. While a lot of ballet is inherently graceful, not all ballets and characters are suppose to come off that way. Giselle is a peasant. She’s youthful, naive, bubbly, etc not refined, elegant and mature. Saying you don’t like the the RB version because it’s not elegant enough would be doing a disservice the Osipova’s performance and embodiment of the character. What I love about the BB version is how shy, romantic, endearing and a little playful Osipova’s makes Giselle come across. She’s like the little sister of the village who everyone adores and saw grow up and you just want her to be happy. As for the RB version, Osipova dances a much more youthful, energetic and free Giselle. This Giselle comes off more like a ray of sunshine who has yet to experience any true hardships or evils of the world like she truely believes that all people are inherently good and truthful. TLDR: music doesn’t line up for both. “Grace” shouldn’t be a determining factor. Both characterisation of Giselle are different and lovely
The dancer on the bottom is dancing to the chime(?) in the background rather than the violin(?) that’s more prominent. So they’re both synced. (Anyone correct me if I’m wrong on which instruments are being played please. I have no earthly idea)
@@siiighhhs Lol I actually play the viola and the reason I said what I said is tempo can change depending on the conductor in orchestra, but the dancer has to accommodate. Which is why I said it’s unfair to play one tempo of the song when both videos are different tempos which means yes they are technically out of synch with each other
Finally someone addressing the elephant in the room. Leaving aside the choreography how could the two versions have the same music, tempo, accents given they were played live years apart by different orchestras and conductor?
Gonne be basic, bolshoi is my fav. Why? Because it fits the music more, she’s calmer and it looks more graceful. besides I think she’s doing the hardest one because of the little pauses. Gonne have to give the background of the royal ballet my props too.
2010: самая красивая девушка в деревне, мечта любого парнишки 2020: самая азарная и душевная девушка. покаряет своей улыбкой. шкодница, её не любят взрослые
the top has better posture and control and looks more graceful. but the bottom is FUN! she looks like a young girl dancing at a party with everyone else clapping her on to the beat. both are wonderful, just different interpretations of the part
А у них одинаковая музыка была во время исполнения? Такое ощущение что у Роял балета быстрее Раз десять пересмотрела, когда смотришь на балерину royal становится больно, кажется ей так тяжело
