Having been unwell and not able to play the piano and then hospitalised for a time, Natalie Trayling (of the famed "Natalie: Iconic Melbourne Piano Street Performer. [Untitled original piece.] (21/1/2014)" • Natalie: Iconic Melbou... after six months, walks up to Hamer Hall in Melbourne with her mobility walker from her apartment on Tuesday 12/12/17 and composes a piece on the spot on the "Play Me I'm Yours" piano in the foyer.
Touring internationally since 2008, Play Me, I’m Yours is an artwork by British artist Luke Jerram. Reaching over 10 million people worldwide, more than 1,850 street pianos have been installed as part of 75 presentations that took place in 55 cities across the globe, from London to New York, bearing the simple instruction to ‘Play Me, I’m Yours’.
Located on streets, in public parks, markets and train stations the pianos are available for everyone to play and enjoy. Play Me, I’m Yours invites the public to engage with, activate and take ownership of their urban environment, and to share their love of music and the visual arts. Decorated by local artists and community groups, the street pianos create a place for exchange and an opportunity for people to connect.
Not officially set to return to Melbourne till January 2018, Hamer Hall (Arts Centre Melbourne) already has one of these piano's in it's foyer for all to play, and Natalie has taken up the opportunity.
