Ken Hinkely is one of, if not, the most protected coaches, from the media in history. I can't comprehend it. Literally has the record for the longest serving coach without a GF appearance, consistently fails in finals, has a poor record against top 4. I'd love to fail at my job for 12 years and still have people singing my praises in the media.
Did the coach play badly, or was it the players? But credit must go to the Lions for what they did. In particular, Hipwood and Daniher played to their optimum.
Kane Cornes giving a lot of grace to his old coach. He could at least acknowledge his bias. And I think dropping Yze's name in there is unfair. His team has been decimated by injury.
To compare Fagan to Ken Hinkley is embarrassing. Nobody was seriously suggesting Fagan be sacked. Ken has been at the club 10 years, there’s enough evidence lmao.
@@PaulFrawley-m8lI know social media isn’t the place for nuanced discussion, but all he said was ‘should Brisbane consider it’. At no stage did he say Fagan needs to go.
The difference between the lions/fagan and port/hinkley is that the lions have made a grand final, in a much shorter time span as well. hinkley has been underperforming in big games for his entire tenure as coach
And 12 yrs of the same post match default carrot. I've spoken to the playing group and just wait till next week it's all good. Problem is next week has become 12 yrs of rubbish
I think it is obvious to the majority of people that Ken’s time is up. This was the 20 year testimonial game and to not even be mentally prepared is surely a coach killing game
I don't understand why media are so hell bent on defending Hinkley - It's not a question of making the right or wrong decision. The guy is going to get sacked in the next few years and Port Adelaide fans would rather the club stop beating around the bush and just get it over and done with. Why is Hinkley being at port adelaide so closely tied to the idea of them winning a premiership? They can still get it done under another coach and history tells us that it doesn't take close to a 12 year tenure to achieve. When has stagnating ever been a good thing? Certain people just don't want to seemingly fold to the negative pressure surrounding it and quite frankly its childish
Buckley would be a good coach and no doubt he’s learnt from his first shot at it and would do things differently. The Port list has some decent talent in it and would be enticing for many coaches but I dont see Buckley giving up his current life for coaching once again. The last couple of games the players have looked like they’ve lost interest, I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone at Port has already been informed Ken wasn’t going to be there at the end of the season and now they are playing like it
Zero comment from Kane on butters with a 4th striking offence this year but is happy to talk about how embarrassed May should feel, I agree May’s act was playing for it but I’d rather that than have my player have 4 striking incidents in a season, when does he get talked about as a dirty player is my question
This is why I don’t listen to Kane if I can help it . He would be ruthless if it was anyone else but Kenny. Weak and conflicted and hate filled when it comes to Bevo or Tarranto or anything or anyone who isn’t a friend. Kane should not be on any media platform
Ken Hinkley has gone platinum now for 12 yrs in a row with the one hit wonder that has taken Australia by storm "The Opposition was too good tonite" proudly produced by We are Port Adel. Written produced and directed by Ken H copyright 2024
Seems to me that Chris Scott said precisely the same thing after the Cats were mauled by Carlton. I don't hear anyone criticizing him for such a lame excuse.
Bucks is better in the media, than he would be as a coach at Port. I say that as a Pies supporter, Bucks is a bit wooden as a coach. He'd still be better than Ken. edit: Though, second time around syndrome, looking at Voss. :)
Do you remember when buckley sat with a crown casino hat on just resigned with Collingwood(instead of port) saying he wanted to play finals and win premierships?I wonder what his thoughts were when he was there when he finds himself at a premiership reunion he could've been part of.
John longmire inherited a good list and stable club Ken Hinckley helped make port a relivent team again, I honestly dont think there is a comparison to be made
@@Bevtone they've both been at their respective clubs the same amount of time. John Longmire has constantly reinvented Sydney's game plan over the years and has always had a plan B, C and even D. You can tell by watching the swans games how much they want to win and play for each other and their coach and never give up. -not a swans fan.
@@BevtoneHinkley did turn them around but he had great assistants then had years off good drafting giving him a a good list, when he lost his assistants he hasn’t been able to get them up in big games. They have a bad record against top 8 teams and a terrible record against top 4 teams and in finals.
@@adamh8517Are you suggesting that Sydney haven't been consummate professionals and a beacon of stability? I'm not at all worried about my intellectual capacity. Perhaps deliver me a less emotional response and a counter argument and maybe I might take you seriously.
Players have been trying to milk the dangerous tackle since the rule was introduced. May's is probably one of the more obvious and embarrassing attempts though.
For obvious staging free kicks, the umpires should be allowed to reverse free kicks if they’re shown on the big screen and it’s obvious. The umpire trusted May because he didn’t have a clear view.
It was only a couple of minutes, but at least there was a clear focus on one of the most historically dominant teams the AFL has ever seen. Whether its Carlton or the Pies or Lions, there simply isn't any rational, evidenced based reason not to realise the truth - the Swans are going to be placed next to Essendon 2000 and the Cats 2007 as the most dominant teams in the AFL era.
Your forgetting Lloyd Meek, he is 25 and only scratching the surface!! He uses his big body to advantage of the new rule!! He beat both McInerney, Grundy and English! He hasn't played TDK but I can see him monstering him!!
Steven May cops it for staging, yet not a word about Dangerfield being rubbed out because Walsh deliberately threw his head to the ground in the tackle in order to win a free kick. That particular tactic is becoming more prevalent every week.
Walsh threw his head to the ground? Both arms pinned with the full force on danger coming down on him, and somhow, he is supposed to defy the laws of physics? Either you're not understanding the basics of momentum and inertia or lacking in critical thinking skills.
“May be Yze at Richmond and spend 5 years at the bottom” wtf. Yze been coaching as a senior coach for less than a season with half a VFL side for the entire season so far. Far out Kane says some stupid things sometimes.
I dont think it's just about this year with Ken... history says they don't beat teams in the top 4 let alone those that finish in the top 8. Supporters clearly had enough after 12 years of under performance 🤷♂️
The AFL is as weak as water by only fining May. They had the opportunity to make a statement by giving him 1 game to send a strong message to everyone. That freekick decision potentially won the Dees the game, so they were rewarded for cheating.
May is not the only one faking it for frees he's just the most obvious atm it's only matter of time where that duck or slip over the shoulder causes real damage and not only will they be hurt but even worst the person that injures that person will be put through the ringer, it's a weak act on so many levels.. your a professional given the opportunity to shine because of your attributes use them to win don't play for frees🤬
The members and fans have had enough, they've got no other way to express what they feel. The club need to listen to its members. So as much as it sucks, I'm ok with it this time. I love Ken, he helped us so much, but we need a new voice, now, before the season is gone. We wanted a cup this year.
@@jimmyriddle5246 Mate, I was at footy Park with the Tarps on, come tell me how bad your team is after you've rested your beer on a tarp. If you were a port fan, you'd be spewing, we've seen this coming
@@Power_Prawnstar I'm not accusing you of not turning up. I'm just saying that statically you're only going to win a flag every 18 years. This is not the SANFL. Nobody cares about your SANFL history except you. A huge amount of Port supporters think that premierships are their God given right but they're living in the past. Every year we read about Port filling gaps in their list through the trade period. Fantasia, Rioli, Dixon up forward, Ratagulea , Allir, Zirk Thatcher etc down back. C'mon mate, they're all bog standard players with some of them not even regulars at their old clubs, but somehow they're the magical fix. Like your mates across town, I'd be looking at your list management team before your coach
@@Power_Prawnstar I didn't accuse you of not turning up. The point is, statistically you're only going to win a flag every 18 years. This is not the SANFL. Nobody gives a toss about what Port has done historically. No other team is intimated by you. Your fans carry on like they've got some God given right to a premiership. Every year we hear the same thing. Port have recruited players from other clubs to fill in their gaps and will look for premiership glory. Really? Fantasia Rioli Dixon etc up forward, Ratagulea Allir Zirk Thatcher etc down back. Soldo Sweet Finlayson in the ruck. I could go on and on. They're bog standard players with some of them not even regulars at their old clubs. Like your mates across town I'd be looking at your list management team before I worried about the coach.
@@jimmyriddle5246 so why then have Geelong, Hawks, and Richmond have won 3 each since we've won one, did they just accept the percentage play? No, of course not. I couldn't care what the stat's say, if you watch closely, you'll see he's lost the team.
TDK is playing well, dont get me wrong but let's be honest, his last two weeks have been against a non ruckman and an ageing Goldstein. Two opponents he should be dominating
Gawn and Grundy older more experience! Especially Gawn. TDK at 24 years of age is giving me a young Grundy vibes with more athleticism. I think TDK and Jackson will become the preminent Ruckman in the league!
Brendan McCartney did not leave the club in a good place lol? He left alongside our captain, our brownlow medalist, one of our better mid/forwards in Shaun Higgins, and we'd just traded out our first round pick to save face by getting Tom Boyd. So over this retelling of history that the club wasn't in an all time crisis prior to Bevo coming along.
Port fans been ‘pumping the brakes’ for a decade. Buckley not sure if there’s enough evidence to determine if Hinkley can take the next step to a GF. 10 years of finals failures would suggest otherwise
listening to tonites podcast. I dont think Buckley is what Port needs. Buckley might be very good at what he does but my gut feel and exp says port needs an ideology a level above his thought process..
I love seeing the free defender behind the ball get bumped and tagged: they have looked too good for too long because they essentially were playing without an opponent. Not so easy now, is it?
Port must be kicking themselves after having Voss on the coach staff and he is now performing Miracles with what was the most shit team for a decade before he got there . If they had sacked Hinkley and engaged Voss they may well have had that flag by now
@@joshuasadler9243 Absolutely correct, he also took a GF team and Premiership Team 12 months prior down consecutive ladder positions for 6 years and missed finals 4 years in a row with ladder positions including 17th.
@@Comatosedpeanut probably should have but what hurt us was not having a key defender and forcing Goldsack to come back early from an ACL to play on Kennedy. We had Maynard on Darling. Despite being around the same height they aren't like for like. Maynard has gotten better playing on the talls but look at West coasts tall defenders that year. That was really the difference. A fit Moore and Reid and they probably don't get close to us.
Bucks always had the most brain dead ideas, worst AFL manager in history with the richest club , now he gets to pick all Australian HORRIBLE rich club favouritism , the lowest of lows by AFL
Hinkley.. unconsciously suffering from fear of losing his job. I have observed clearly a style of trying to save games by overdoing short passes .. in other words a possession game. A game style that is not working, and won’t. That style is not, and has not been part of the ‘dna’ of the players.. which is really … run run run. They do have average players, but they are better than what we are seeing
Port have just over estimated their list for years. Good home and away team but never able to get it done in finals Need a new coach and change up of game plan etc in my humble opinion
Port Adelaide have a positive win/loss ratio and are in the top 8… quite a bizarre leap of logic to sack the coach based on one game against a very good team. Why now why not 3 weeks ago? Changing coaches now ain’t gunna help the team. Everything is hyperbole these days.
Yeh a lot of media hype at the moment, although it will be justified in about a months time if Port don’t do well in the next 4games - they definitely should win either 2-3 games in that period. If they are 11-7 after 18 games, the whole discussion will change. However if they miss the finals or go out in Week 1, the groundswell from supporters will be huge. Of course if they win a flag or make a GF(unlikely I know), he is definitely staying. The real interesting situation is what happens if they go out in Week 2 of finals or have a bad preliminary final loss.
Hinkley is the biggest fraud of a coach there has been this century. He is branded as a terrific coach. The man has done nothing at that club. Port should have held off on re-signing him until after the finals last season. They handed a contract to a bloke that is not capable of taking his side to a GF and a flag.
Hinkley cannot even coach Charlie Dixon to kick in a straight line from 20m directly in front. What do they have a skills coach???? Do they practise??? You would expect better from the amateur leagues The more Buckley talks the more he is sounding like Hinkley. He's the last thing Port needs.
Talking about Hinkley’s record as a coach is BS, his winning percentage means Jack shit. It’s like talking up a tennis player who loses in the 5th set but wins more points/games throughout the match as if they are better than what the stats show. He loses when it matters. End of story.
That’s not really the analogy to use - a better tennis one is judging a player who semi regularly makes a quarter final at a grand slam, occasionally makes a semi final, but over a long career never makes a grand slam final. Is that player a good tennis player? no doubt, but is he a great? Far from it.
Sydney are currently in 2nd gear and are only going to get better with Mills and Parker. Mills coming in for someone like Campbell and becoming another hard bodied 2 way all australian midfielder is terrifying
To take Gawn over TDK in the aa team atm would be a joke. Gawn hasnt played a great game in a bit, the selectors absolutely have their favourites which make the selections a meme. Tom Stewert in last year was a perfect example of it over Harris Andrews. They have their "AA type" players and want to select them over anyone despite form
As a Freo fan Gawn was by far the best ruckman for the first half of the year I think he’s 5th in the Brownlow at the moment. Compare the stats Gawn is beyond elite this year carrying that Melbourne team.
@@Oli-cc3eh Hes gone missing since then though and across the ground gone missing. TDK and Grundy would run rings on him atm, Gawn is still great but a quarter of the season isnt an AA season

Ken has held on to a very hard Position for a long time the loyalty shown by Kevin and the Port Adelaide football club is solid forget about booing supporters and media hype particularly Those close to the club like Warren who are great at negativity but never have positive input suggestions they are more dangerous all they create is disillusionment problem solving is what is required Port needs another good strong tall forward or two to kick the ball in a bit longer and quicker into there forward line a few players are out of form recruiting is the answer
Sam Walsh has clearly now on multiple occasions thrown his own head to the ground to try and get frees for fake dangerous tackles. Why is Carlton getting more charity with his behaviour being overlooked?… Weitering’s holds always overlooked, Tom De Koning’s CLEAR pushing is overlooked in most around the ground ruck contests and McKay and Curnow get the SOFTEST free kicks week in week out. Who at the AFL or within the umpires has an agenda to help Carlton?… been going on for quite some time.
Kane's refusal to acknowledge how bad Ken is is why its as bad as it is now. Also, they have NOT listened to the supporter base one little bit. Wtf is Kane on about the disconnected fool.
Josh Carr should be the new coach, he is the same vintage as Hardwicke and Kingsley another hard nut. Remember what he did with North Adelaide wooden spoon to a Premiership. Hinkley is a one trick pony, cya Kenny you should do the right thing and resign.
