This is an M-5 horn for Clinchfield F-3Au #800 which was recently repainted to back to the legendary Clinchfield grey and yellow. This horn is a 3/16" orifice setup and is privately owned. This was the same horn featured on the last run of the Secret City Scenic in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The horn has been painted at the Huntington Locomotive Shops where the F-3Au was also. Upon mounting on the locomotive the horn was tested, but subsequently filled with sand that had gathered in the air lines from the sand blasting. The horn came home to my shop and I cleaned it out and voiced it again. I'm pretty happy with the outcome and I think it'll sound nice on that engine.
The Clinchfield #800 will be featured in the lead of 2017's Santa Train down the former Clinchfield Railroad. It and SCL SD45 #2024, currently mascarading as CRR #3632, will be the motive power for the Santa Train. This was a very special joint effort between CSX Transportation and Southern Appalachia Railway Museum with many others.
Enjoy!
