Same thing happened last year, Summer wore off in the south, and then winter picked up in the north. By Halloween the infections and hospitalizations will be rising in the north again, just like last year.
@@johnb3801 yes, but you know that because you actually looked at the data yourself, same way I did and drew some conclusions on what it may mean. Kind of scary to think the winter spike will be so high in the north, considering it's been so much higher than it was last year during the summer lull of the north. But this is what the data suggests is going to happen, Just like the South was higher this summer than last summer, so too will the North be this winter. Like Alaska, they didn't have a spike, they've just had one long run up starting in July 2020 until now.

One way to stop it from happening again is to immediately stop all travel and close all borders in your country when you hear of a major outbreak of a disease overseas. And also get your population healthier.
The only way to stop is by not putting it out in the public for it to spread, just keep it in the lab, remember Faucci said a more deadlier variant of coming, how would he know unless it's one of the variants he created and tested on people.
Corona is not ended in your country. Closing borders is helping a little maybe! But no country has managed to not get Corona in their country, all have closed borders! @@anjaoldnettle2841 we have the most obese population in the world. What were the majority of the deaths from corona or obese people. Stop being a denier of what is actually going on.
It's worked before. Look at how they treated the polio, measles and mumps control groups. They removed them all and pretended the vaccines were responsible.
It's easy to track vaccinations, but not easy to track mask-wearing and social distancing, which are also pretty effective. It would help to know whether the surges anti-correlate with mask-wearing & distancing behaviors. Those wise behaviors presumably improve with scary news of surges and become lax with reassuring news that the infection rate has dropped.

Are we there yet? Figures say so, but not the media. Herd immunity (also called herd effect, community immunity, population immunity, or mass immunity) is a form of indirect protection from infectious disease that can occur with some diseases when a sufficient percentage of a population has become immune to an infection, whether through vaccination or previous infections, thereby reducing the likelihood of infection for individuals who lack immunity. Immune individuals are unlikely to contribute to disease transmission, disrupting chains of infection, which stops or slows the spread of disease. The greater the proportion of immune individuals in a community, the smaller the probability that non-immune individuals will come into contact with an infectious individual.
I'm disappointed in Gupta's book. He did not mention any discussion on the ethics of RNA vaccines at all. They require far more refrigeration (hence energy) than previous vaccines and I do not see how it can be justified given that we are already having problems combating global warming.
Preservation of human life is unethical and unjustifiable if it needs far more refrigeration than previous methods had? You've lost your mind. This must be one of the stupidest thing I've read since covfefe.
Well, that's absurd. I'm sure everyone is looking forward to vaccinations that don't require as much refrigeration, but come on. The reason we want temperature stable vaccines is so they are easier to ship around the world and can reach more people cheaply. Honestly, the US has lost 1 person in 500 so far and we might get to 1:400. There's a little energy savings right there, if that's your primary concern.

Normally I like Dr Gupta but he seems completely ignorant to the measures taken in different WHO regions. PAHO Pan-American Health Organization region and European WHO region both had a policy of open borders and no quarantine only some voluntary scheme, it's not rocket science to work out under such circumstances the virus will spread and in the Western Pacific region of WHO of which I am a part of in Australia the deaths per Capita from covid 19 even if you exclude China is less than 10% of the aforementioned regions, quarantine at the border and for infected individuals works and lockdowns as required , the evidence is overwhelming. However Delta changed things significantly because of its extreme transmissibility so many countries lost control when it gained a footing.
Hugely, say 30% less so we the individual are figuring it out. Hope and pray for everyone to see the light and do the right things for everyone not just themselves. My opinion
% are meaningless unitless numbers without context. Note - i am NOT an antivasker. Impact of Ivermectin and regeneron as theraputics to get people out of hospital? (While not better than vax, they do do some benefit to SOME people) % of eligible adults vs % of population? (Ohooo you did say eligible. My bad) % increase rate of vax out of how many in what time period? Because it takes 0.5-2months for the vax to take affect.
What I would like to know is: Why do so many americans distrust their government, their doctors and their healthcare providers that so many americans has either not been vaccinated or has decided to not be vaccinated? - The US vaccination rate is in the mid 70's, Denmark fx. has 87% atm. The US has lost 700.000 americans to covid or 2127 americans pr. million, a majority of which could've been prevented, where Denmark has lost 2663 or 459 pr. million.. And Denmark is a far denser populated country than most parts of the US (excepting ofc the major cities like New York, LA, SF etc). The US has botched the response to the virus, that much is clear. There's thousands of americans who will not enjoy christmas with their families this year, empty chairs in cold living rooms. Chairs that should not be empty, but spreading warmth and joy around them. The why is the important question to ask. How did it go so wrong, and why?
We have politicians - and I'm not just blaming the GOP, but they are a lot of this particular problem - who rabblerouse. In this case, by pushing a selfish, anti-science, anti-cooperation agenda. It's very popular, and it gets them votes. Fear is a powerful motivator, and the people pushing that fear are targeting uneducated folk who aren't good at looking at the data to begin with. You knew how to compare Denmark and the US, so you see there's a problem. Many people just don't have the skill, but they'll listen to Carlson or random people on Facebook. Uneducated people sometimes resent smart people, and it's easy to whip that into useful froth come election time. It's easy to teach people to be scared and selfish and angry, and to blame others. Add to that the flood of trolls who are pouring into facebook and youtube - paid agents of Russia, among others. They have one goal, to spread misinformation and fear. How effective they are I'm not sure - they mostly run around echoing each other's points. CNN cleans a lot of it up, but comments on CNBC pages are a rancid stew of hate and lies. Fox News, of course, is practically St Petersburg these days. Don't even go there. I don't know what to say. 25% of Americans believe the sun goes around the earth, according to one poll. Not sure what they were doing in school, but as adults they'll believe anything, including lies about vaccines and masks. And that is pulling down the whole country. Somewhere, Putin is smiling. So is DeSantis. And Carlson. The rest of us attend funerals.

India couldn't even report a death count because they were cremating so fast they didn't couldn't keep records. Then the funeral pyres couldn't keep up and people started dumping bodies in rivers. They don't have the reporting infrastructure in place to count deaths. Heck, in the US, Florida doesn't seem able to report regularly, so how is India going to? Though there might be other reasons Florida isn't keeping on top of it. Even if we had accurate numbers though, I'm not sure the US would look so good. Folk in India got scared straight by a huge death toll. Some Americans are keeping their heads under rocks and think getting vaccinated isn't their problem. Bleh. Not an original thought. How about neither of those are the same as "death because of covid"? Some people not infected with Covid die BECAUSE covid patients are filling up hospitals and using limited resources. My stepdaughter was a casualty of this.
How much does anyone believe that there will be no spikes, variants, or new viruses that will pop up at convenient moments to keep this madness alive? The impromptu measures, that have no precedent, MUST NOT become permanent! We MUST start looking at the actions taken with an eye on basic human motivation.
Nothing is impromptu. if you actually looked into the claims you're making you'd see that all of the measures we've been taking are tried and true. Masks have been a common and effective way to slow the spread of disease for over a century, not just when it's convenient for political posturing. If you're actually upset about the evils in the world, there is a surprising amount of it waiting to be uncovered, but you won't learn about it if you just follow the shepherd to slaughter. Your sources are not reliable if you believe these things, it's not your fault but you can take steps to better yourself.
If you want to look into motivation, start with why our leaders and corporations would benefit from feeding us lies and keeping us in a bubble of misinformation. Look into how certain right wing think tanks are profiting off of individuals desire to have their beliefs catered to, even if it's baseless and damaging. Look into why humans in general have a tendency towards bias to avoid cognitive dissonance. Look inward to your own motivations, they seem well meant yet your ego still desires to be "That guy" who knew all along, even if the things you "know" were fed to you by untrustworthy rich assholes with an agenda. I'm not claiming to know everything, but trust me on this: I don't even like you but I guarantee we have more in common, and I care about you more, than any of these rich assholes.

It also seems to depend on the severity of the infection for how long you are immune. Little or no symptoms = few antibodies. I guess that is a "plus" to those in rehab.
