National Park Adventure | Rainbow Falls | Caravan Issues | Family Road Trip Travel Australia EP 60
This week we have an unexpected extended stay in Emerald as we are challenged with some ongoing wiring issues in the van that are having knock on effects with the solar, batteries and 12 volt system... Argh!!
We turn our frustrations into a positive and take some time out in nature to explore Blackdown Tablelands National Park. Located between Emerald and Rockhampton in Queensland’s Central Highlands, this really is a hidden gem and boasts an incredible plateau, sandstone gorges, crystal clear waterholes and the beautiful Rainbow Falls waterfall.
We’re keeping our fingers crossed the van will get sorted in the coming days so we can hit the road and continue our journey north to the Tropics!

Long before Blackgown was developed for visitors it was almost my second home. Back then you could drive a vehicle all the way down to the two rockpools above Rainbow falls. It's a beautiful place. Thanks for the memories.

Pretty disappointing to see such problems from a new van but good to hear that are looking after the warranty as they should. These things happen and sometimes the outcomes can be good like being able to discover new places that would otherwise be missed. We have had our fair share of unplanned stays at places due to breakdowns and such. We made the best of it too.

We stayed at a park in Dingo,about 12 k's before the turn off to the Blackdown national park,heading towards Emeral.Old mate said "yeh,go and have a look at the Rainbow Falls,the turn off is not far,then theres 240 steps to the falls'.No worries,so we set off in thongs.He forgot to mention the distance from the turn off from the highway to the start of the walk.AND the 1.8 klm walk to get to the 240 steps !! We had a good laugh along the unsteady walk in thongs.The walk was worth it as the falls were runnung and spectacular.The park in Dingo was awesome.Very old fassioned,clean amenities,$20 a night with power & water,campfire,the manager strumming the guitar.We are looking forward to going back.Thank you for the video,bought back a lot of memories,even though we were there only 7 months ago.

If your coming back Rockhampton way, make sure you spend a night at island view caravan park and head out to emu park and Keppel sands or if you are really adventurous, great Keppel island.

I can relate katie to the water temperature, I too am your build and feel the cold. when I had a pool in Sydney , had a solar for it and I ramped it up to 30deg lol I get a hard time too about being a woos Enjoying your journey. almost caught up. thanks guys:) from the gold coast

who was the clown that fitted the second solar panel....and it took more that one autoleccy to diagnose the obvious ??? Scary to think people are coming across this sort of crap work on the road. Encountered similar situation at Ayers Rock couple years ago, guy having probs in Darwin with his van electrics , charged over $800, new Anderson plugs fitted and rewired, only to have cooked two batteries with incorrectly wired panels....We fixed the problem onsite at the caravan park but still had to replace batteries...FYI people....solar panels MUST be fed to batteries via a suitable solar regulator.....

Love all of your videos very informative. Finally caught up with them all. We have so many beautiful areas in Australia why go overseas before going to our own back yard. Just a question about your thermal mixer where do you buy then. I’ve been to Harvey Norman, the good guys etc and they don’t know anything about them. Keep the good work going looking forward to continuing to watch your vids.

Great episode guys love the channel, not your fault unless you've modified it but the spaghetti wiring is a recipe for disaster. I'd be looking at rewiring the entire mess....surely that wasn't original wiring from factory. Only asking as that mess can lead to more frustrations.

6:15 That bitumen road was once pea gravel. Up near the top, if you were to look down to your left, you would see an old holden and a caravan wedged between two large rocks. It was definitely NOT a road for towing anything. Anyway, I'll stop commenting. Otherwise, I'll fill the comment thread.

Was that an Australian Lungfish at 20:16? I thought they were native only to Mary and Burnett Rivers. It looks the right size for one and its tail is the same . There used to be one you could feed at the Big Mandarin at Mundubberra in Qld.

Thanks for the great footage. I love the drone shots. Curious about the van issue because we just bought the same van. Was one of the solar panels connected to the battery directly? Was this this issue which was since covered under warranty. Cheers George

Just another reason not to buy a caravan, I’ve never seen such a mess with your wiring, all of that wiring should be all I protected plastic tubing, just a fire hazard waiting to happen such a shame you guys paying big bucks for crappy quality regardless if the claim under warranty 😎

1 minute in and I see the problem. You've had rats make a nest in your wiring. On a serious note, that bundle of wires looks so messy, unprofessional and risky.
