Not true. There was no pitch because the game ended before the pitch. Plus, the pitcher was distracted by the ump before the release.

@@Tupelo777 The pitcher wasn't distracted. He had no idea the call was made. He was frustrated that the pitch missed the zone. If you read what I wrote, I said the pitch he threw WOULD have ended the game anyway. No chance the ump would have called that a strike, it clearly missed the zone by a lot. That would have ended the game anyway IF there was no violation. The violation call in this case didn't matter. I also said it just lowered his pitch count by one...what did you think I meant by that?

@@Tupelo777 I'm not going to argue with his own words, but I will add that the first four batters of the inning reached base at that point, he had a 3-2 count and they had zero outs. It's not like he was pitching well. So even if he was wrong in saying he didn't know what happened, it's still highly unlikely he was going to get out of that spot without allowing one run. I'm still sticking with what he said though, just pointing out how improbable the situation was from them to get out of the inning at that point.

The umpire isn't watching the clock, he gets buzzed when the clock hits 0:00; he has a split second to decide whether it's a violation or not.
