We already fund ESL teachers, and have been for decades. Our daughter is 30 yrs old and I remember in elementary school she would come home and tell me the little kid in her class kept asking her how to spell his name. The children also have different standards for instance 30 spelling words for students were cut down to 10-15 for ESL students. I’m not sure how it is now, we pulled our children from PS long ago after that.

Get rid of the US Dept of Education. Get rid of No Child Left Behind and the IDEA law. If a child makes a threat to a school or is violent , he/ she forfeits their privilege to an education. I saw it daily in 15 years of education. Homeschooling my own kids, never going back! Did have some administrators held their own, called in law enforcement and worked to protect the students doing the right thing . Lots of homeschooling in my neck of the woods as parents have had it up to here with the cirriculum and policies. My kids' elementary school has a group of Furries who dress in costume, distract their classmates meowing and licking themselves, if our kids complain of the distraction *they* get in trouble. If you want a school that teaches the "3 Rs" - actual skills and has police and protection from predators, then you have that choice. If you cannot do something correctly, then do not do it at all. Our home values were artificially inflated because of investors' greed and if home values should come down as they dump homes to sell, don't expect county officials to decrease your taxes.
The home prices were inflated by low interest rates, a huge influx of liquidity with all the money printing and exacerbated with the manipulation of the market by Big real estate like Zillow and Black Rock buying up homes cash well over asking price not because of "investor greed" (what is that?) of the average American
People are having a lot fewer children and have been for at least 2 decades. Additionally, many people are home and private schooling so honestly we probably need less teachers and less schools

Vouchers will require state oversight. I’ve already talked with Steve Munisteri here in TX and their plans for vouchers is only 50,000 in TX to begin with, priorities are for special needs and minorities. We already have school choice.

They pocketing that money (the leaders) just like all taxes. In fact one guy what work a company blow on them. Because they ask him to charge then double the cost than the repair will be so they can take a cut and he can take a cut. He sued them and they quickly settle outside of court (this was in CA a long time ago). Think about all the other places where this happening but the companies are pocketing the money. It took over a decade to build one side of the highway until a new major was choose and he hired another company that finished it in a reasonable time. No highway in the same spot should take 15 years to do. I know what was happening they was pocketing the money. I wouldn’t be surprise that a lot of that money going over seas a good percent is pocketed into their greedy hands. We as a people pay a lot and I mean a lot of taxes where we don’t even get unv healthy care, or unv education like other country do. I know a lot goes to the army and now we need it more than ever thinks to the horrible globe policy, wars etc where we made a lot of enemies who can now easily hit the main land now. They didn’t even bother building the public bomb shelters for when that time comes. Only the super rich and leaders have that. They care so kitties about the masses as a whole.

For years I've been hearing to vote for more taxes, "It's for the kids," "You care about kids, don't you?" and yet, the school districts take away music programs, art programs, no physical education in elementary schools, lack of reading materials, shoddy classrooms, old buildings with asbestos, filthy bathrooms, and then they wonder why students do not perform well in California standardized testing? tbh I do NOT have any sympathy for the schools or the teachers. This is my wife’s 23rd year teaching. She is already maxed out on her income. She doesn’t make much money here in Georgia. The school system keeps adding more kids and responsibilities. She also uses a lot of her own money to purchase things for the classroom.

I knew this was going to happen after many teachers put up pride flag and left leaning political tik tok videos. How did you think some parents were going to react? I am a teacher myself , but I lean conservative. I decided to get out after they were going to give me almost double the kids and they made the STAAR test( Texas) harder with a writing component graded by AI. No thank you. I did not sign my contract so a novice ended getting 35 kids ( last year I had 25, the year before 21) .She had a rough time . Teachers should not be allowed to make content in their classrooms AT ALL. Parents are deciding to homeschool for a reason. Each kid brings in about $200 per capita per day.

I thought since i just got out of the Army i might get preferred treatment. But no. I did not join the Army. I was drafted into it.

my municipal release annual tax information in the seasonal news paper. my city have 63,000 residents. have 18,000 houses. collects 130 million in property taxes, gets another $20 mil from permit, fines, forfeiture, and others. have 8,000 students (grade 1-12), have 11 student per "school staff" so 730 school staffs. the city spends 33 millions on education. or $45,200 per school staff. but what does the school teach? diversity, inclusion, equity, social study, equitable math, gender study, feminisms, COMMUNISM. seriously! paretns are very very mad, but the city council and school board don't care. so good. get rid of the schools! we'll teach our own kids!
We were supposed to close on our house yesterday. Signed all the edocs, confirmed with the title company the amount of cash to close listed on the closing document. Went to closing for "wet" signatures. Confirmed with the title rep the funds had been received. An hour later, got a congratulations note that we had been funded. Then, late afternoon the mortgage company is calling me to say there had been and error in the numbers and we are $5K short. No apology for the error. Total arrogance by involved. We had the additional $5K but was blown away that we had to make all the effort to correct their mistake. The mortgage guy did agree to meet with me at my bank to pick up the cashier's check prior to work but I had to ask if that could be done. So, handed over another cashier's check for $5K at 8 am my time. Currently 11 am my time and no update on our funding status. There has got to be some culpability for this level of incompetence.

I live in Fort Worth and the city is choking homeowners with increased property taxes. I’m 71 and live on a pension and social security and can not afford more property taxes.

My baby boy is 8 and I was homeschooling until I was forced by individuals calling CPS on me for not having him in public school. My baby know how to spell, read, loves math and science, etc. He asked me a few days ago if I could be a teacher but because I do not have the proper qualifications, I cannot, even though I have literally been one for 25yrs or more to plenty of children. We need to start our own sovereign communities and really pull together and take one for the team

I agree with you guys. I’ve always wondered why schools was funded by property taxes? That is the most uneven and unfair way to fund schools because higher income communities have better schools than lower income communities. Schools should be funded by the state equally maybe through a VAT tax and all kids should get the same education throughout the state. Not based on property values.

In Illinois we have over 250 school districts. Each with administration and salaries. Chicago Teachers Union that spends only 30% on their members is negotiating a new contract with the city/Mayor witch he came from said union. Google the proposed contract. Then check Chicago real estate taxes on Trulia/Zillow.

A huge amount of money got wasted in my opinion on technology. I work in IT for a school district and the amount of money they've spent on Chromebooks and smart boards that they didn't need is ridiculous. The most frustrating part is they hire all of these other positions, but the facilities and information technology departments are running on skeleton crews
This is extremely disappointing to hear as an educator. The corruption, lack of accountability, and mismanagement of funds, it really should be about the kids first getting a quality education. My peers & I understand that w/ what we do we have a responsibility & should earn more, but it's really more than the money.. I believe there's a lot of fluff or fat that needs to be cut... Like superintendents & their buddies at the top who parade w/ the cities wealth, directors/boards, DEI programs & SPED departments. Make education educational again. When I was in school, the ONLY SPED department we had was like 2% of the student/staff population. (Legitimate MR children w/ DS). HOWEVER, now it's like 40-50%. They look just like any other kid but act like they can't sit still to read a damn book or apply themselves because of some "mental block." Cut ALL this fat. Raise your quality veteran educators/coaches about 15%-20% & elect them to make community decisions w/ stricter guidelines on spending. School districts may still be broken from past financial damages, but at least you allow room for growth & have quality education with less politics.
The school system in the small town in Idaho where I live just closed down the middle school due to an alleged lack of funds. The poor children now have to be funneled either down to the elementary school, or even worse, up to the high school before they are emotionally ready.

Many companies are forcing early retirements, this is how they are getting around layoffs and high unemployment numbers. I've seen more retirements in the past two years than the first 4 years of the company I work for. Many are "early".
Some people are getting laid off because of their age. And nobody wants to hire a 55 year old nurse. They want top wages. The hospital can hire a fresh college graduate for half the money
Just saw the second largest office tower in downtown Pittsburgh just got reassessed down again. In 2019 it was valued at $214 million dollars and they've had additional reductions over the years after appeals. In mid 2021 it dropped to $169.75 million before it was reduced even further to the $149.9 million last year. Last month it's been reassessed down again to 59.6 million. The county and city are in a panic on how they're going to make up the money they are losing as the dominoes start to fall across the county as well as the city.
What is sad is most people are going to blame teachers but the true is it's the bloated administration cost. Principles should not be making high 6 figures only working 6 months out of the year.

I know some things about the school system. My brother worked 28 years for public school. He was a janitor and moved up to maintenance over those years. He said that his pay was low wage. But yet, his wife never had a job or worked. They raised 3 kids and sent them all to college. And they build a brand new house on riverfront property and never had a mortgage. But the school system doesn't pay anything?? Yeah right. My brother lied about it. Plus he got the lifetime free ride pension
California charges property taxes on the price you pay for the house minus $7000 homeowner's exemption and then 2% increase yearly (2% Cap) not like Texas, Texas charges on the current value every year, doesn't matter if you bought your house for less. Just saying, we used to own property in Texas and now, we are homeowner's in California. We are in our forever home.

THANK YOU!! That is what I have been saying. Most homes have not made improvements so the appreciation is just inflation, that it would take more of today's dollars to purchase yesterday's cost. Taxes are based on %s so the taxman's share keeps pace with inflation while the citizen's income is for the most part stagnant. Our entire monetary system is FRAUD from the outset. The folks that have done everything "right" are getting screwed the most. Your neighbor that has maxxed their credit cards are not the issue, in fact they just function the same way as the governments. Nothing your neighbors could do, cumulatively, could even come close the damage the government has done. The government wants to divide us by class, race, gender, and every other conceivable difference so that folks don't recognize the crimes being committed in full view.
The public school industry is probably the biggest employer in the U.S. - Not just the schools themselves but all the support jobs needed to keep the schools going. This is a big deal
