This is from FLORIDA- not too far away INSANE Tropical Paradise ? Check out this GREENHOUSE and the OWNERS HOUSE/ and Ponds ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3KnftryAC5c.html
Southern Australia here, so all cold water, my favourite fish would be the Murray Cod, big and powerful, awesome personalities and easy on the eyes as well
Hey Dustin , Blue Spotted Sunfish do very well in planted tanks and even though they are in the Sunfish family they are very mild mannered and when wild caught they are usually timid to the point of being afraid of light. However captive bred fry tolerate light very well. I have one male and 3 females they breed almost every year but they always eat the fry before realize I need to move the adults.
Northern Cali- love the rainbow trout and Brown Trout. We have some crazy fish in Cali too like them big ass Sturgeon that look like dinosaurs! Tank on!
Blue spotted sunfish!!! Ive been trying to find what this fish is for a year!! I saw a picture a long time ago when i was entertaining the idea of setting up a tank with local fish. I could not find mention nor picture of this fish since then. Thankyou!! Ill be looking to keep this 100%.
I went out collecting today, I caught some blue spotted sunfish, baby sirens, gambusia, A really large red bellied water snake, several turtles, some salamanders, pirate perch, and several green sunfish, I love fish collecting!
@@Moontanman I'm a democrat voter I have a male pro-democrat paradise fish he will be bred with a female fighter plakat bettafish to make a new generation of democrat🔵 hybrid paradise fish. The debate is a male hybrid paradise fish vs a male republican🔴 northern studfish over territory who wins.
One of my favorite library books from my elementary school library was a book on keeping North American fish in the aquarium. the stoney bottom setups with all the plants housing shiners and dace mezmorized me. Man , I have to drive down to imperil tropical one day.
I would really love to see more videos on sun fish/ other cool fish from america and plants there is little information on this online also i saw u had a puffer fish in one of your videos more puffers!!
Those blue spotted sunfish, are they fresh water? salt water? brackish? would they make a good addition to a community tank, or would they ear every thing smaller than them?
do you use water from the pond or should I still use treated tap water for a native tank? I'm trying to start up a sunfish tank so I'm curious any advice helps thanks bro
Hey Dustin if you could get an identification on the fish in your video at 2:58 let me know. I collected on in Florida about 3 years ago and I've been keeping it in my tank. I love it and have been looking to get some more.
presently I am living in southeast asia , Nepal ... and the most beautiful fish wild caught are the giant danios ( locally named as bhitti machha) machha=fish , ......i made few locals catch these fish from the hilly stream ( river is dry at this time of the month) .. and put it in my aquarium, the danios in natural habitat... wow the colors, rainbow in my eyes!!!
realized weeks too late that i accidentally took a tiny baby green sunfish home when i was collecting gambusia for my pond. growing it out in a tank now. somehow fell in love. i read somewhere that they have polarized vision and can see through the reflection on the surface of the water.
So i got a water softener for house is the salt that is used for it safe for my fish as when i do water changes i got mixer tap i don't know the name of the salt just know its softens water it gives high soduim will that harm my goldfish also i use sechem prime as declor
Yo Dustin Whats UPPPP!!!! Love this video man. I did not know Blue spotted Sunfish were so beautiful. They are off the chain. Also, the Bullhead looks like something I'd be interested in as well. Can't wait for part 2. Oh and yea loved the fresh WuTang you were spitting with Joey the other day. lol. My Facebook name was Fousa :D
I wish those little sunfish would become more popular. They seemed pretty. We've got long ear sunfish around me and those get some great colors during breeding time
I was there the other month and I set a little water bottle trap put it in a lake for about 4 minutes and then it was FULL of guppies it was insane I don't know the species but they resemble the fancy guppies around here
Bullhead can get up to 18 inches but typically stay between 6-15 inches. The sunfish that was not ID appears to be a Dollar Sunfish and get to be about 4.5 to 5 inches. Also the chub minnow appears to be a Lake Chubsucker and get about 12 inches. Not sure on the Killifish species that was found though.Natives are awesome and it's a shame we don't see more of them in the hobby. By the way my favorite is all of them! I really can't pick just one.
These native species videos are really important, awesome video! Warmouth are sunfish. That killi is a monster! My favorite native would be a toss up between the green sunfish, the bowfin, and chain pickeral. Gars are bad ass too!
The red finned/grey bodied fish is a chub? Looks like what we call redhorse in Alabama. A carp like bottom dweller that isn't afraid to go up around surface.
dustin I have a question about my fish tank.i have a 29 gallon fish tank and I was cleaning because it got dirty.so when I put everything of decoration and water. i put the water conditioner and I waited 45 min. then I put the fishes in bag floating in the tank so they can acclimate. after that I let them go in the tank. like 10 min pass, they all they except one fish. it was a betta fish. so I don't know what happen.
Here in Missouri, my favorite native is the Orange Throated Darter. A close second is the Rainbow Darter. That Blue Spotted Sunfish is an awesome catch! It is probably full grown!
Gulf Coast Pygmy Sun fish are my favorite! they work amazing in nano tanks with Cherry Shrimp. I live in Jacksonville, FL so i know all about these swamp fish you'll be amazed at how many different color combinations some of these fish have
@@taylorhickman84 I've wild caught then bred them myself in a 10g as a hobbyist but as far and anyone breeding them for profit or wholesale I've never seen them in stores. All the information i had on these little beauts came from wildlife surveys. I think a while back i saw some on a site like aqua-bid or something can't remember this was 6 years ago. But if you ever get the chance the males do a little dance when breeding waving their fins in a unique way i've only seen from this fish.
3:09 is a dollar sunfish, 3:30 is a southern studfish I think. Warmouth are a sunfish species. They max out at about 10". Dustin you need to check out orange spotted sunfish and longear sunfish if you want to see some awesome colors on natives! Awesome collecting man!
War mouth is not the most aggressive!!! I kept a six inch warmouth in a fifty gallon with angelfish and never once did I see even a hint of aggression. The most agresive I have seen in Florida (and personally kept) is the dollar sunfish
'What I saw Bluespotted sunfish (the gorgeous little black one) Dollar sunfish (the other gorgeous sunfish that was a bit bigger) Warmouth (the biggest sunfish) Yellow bullhead catfish (native small yellow catfish) Hoplo catfish (the funny looking catfish) And I think the killifish was a golden topminnow
Pink Tabby Largo i sometimes catch them in my minnow traps and put them in my aquarium til they outgrow the space. they grow fast too. i put them in at about 3"and within 6 months they are about 12-15 and ready to go to the pond if im not too hungry :)
