Y’all I had to use so much restraint on not making a joke in the video about my “holly berries” get it…? Sounds like Halle Berry. I’ll see myself out😂

I can’t wait to see the golden ball lead tree! I’ve never heard of it, but I’m a little obsessed with small native Tx trees! 👀 😊

It’s looking reeeaaaal scrappy currently. I’m always scared things may have died instead of going dormant this time of year.

Looking good! It's always kind of sad to see the plants going dormant, but that's life. The new area will look great after all the plants grow! Happy new year!

Thanks my friend. You’re right, I always get a bit bummed when plants go dormant, mostly because I fear I killed them😝

My Brazilian Rock Rose is still looking good too! It also went to seed and gave me 20+ babies this fall that I was able to easily pull and repot to plant elsewhere in the spring. I just planted this plant in April earlier this year. Survived the drought too. It is a super hardy plant so far. Southeast Louisiana, previously Zone 8B, now Zone 9A.

I’m excited to hear that! I’ll keep an eye out for the babies!

Does your mistflower get full sun or some shade? I have some to plant but not sure where to put it in my garden to thrive!

Western exposure, full sun definitely. I was nervous when I planted it in the spring but it has done marvelous!

I’m curious what part of Texas are you in? I’m from the Brazos valley I really struggle with my garden with the heat, and soil

The struggle is real! I’m in Bell county which is split between cross timbers and black land prairie ecoregion. tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_mp_e0100_1070ac_34.pdf My soil is heavy clay with some limestone. I’ve not done an official soil test (I should though!) but I tend to amend my flower bed soil with expanded shale to facilitate drainage. I do raised beds for fruit and veggies which allows me to better control my soil composition. Have you looked into your local master gardener classes? These classes are great at helping you overcome the local gardening challenges. Keep at it!

@@theplantninja-texasgardener oh your not too far from me, I’m a little farther south, our weather shouldn’t be too different, my soil is mostly sand and clay a lot of rocks
