Swedes are almost always a bit reserved and shy but when it comes to knowledge and capability that can even make them more focused and they take themselves and things very seriously. They don't say much but they walk the walk instead of talking.
Nope the Victoria class subs are in service now with exception , maybe ,of Corner Brook, though most of the Victoria class ,3 of them ,are based in the Pacific
So I was looking it up btw ,Canada operates as many subs as Spain in Nato ,that is to say 4 ,only Germany and Italy with more diesel subs, and other than the US only Britain and France with nuclear subs . Canada with more subs than say the Netherlands , actually about as many as Poland Romania and Portugal have combined . and theres countries like Finland &Denmark that dont have subs, with respect to those countries,( not to mention are quite a number of small countries or that are landlocked ) so Canada actually in about the top rank,or rather 2nd tier re submarines, but not 3rd 4th ,or 5th tier, and in the top 5 or 6 countries in Nato for subs, indeed for its Navy
@@egemensentin yes though those are somewhat different cases, with the tensions going back decades if not longer between Greece and Turkey , both and Greece in particular are armed up more than they would be otherwise ,no way a country, relatively small, the size of Greece 10 milion, would have that number of subs normally would have 2 maybe 3 subs at most, not 10 . and Turkey under present govt and for last 10 yrs or more, nationalistic ,and or militaristic shall we say , so spending higher than might be otherwise .so both countries kinda have what one could term asterisks
they would do same thing as in the actual excercise, which is inform the commanders and react, which can be a simulation attack or surveillance if they stay unnoticed
@@Cptnbond I think you misspelled "threat". With that said you want to train for all threats that can be foreseen and unforeseen. That is the idea of a training exercise. Also, using unmanned vessels allows computers to put more gaming scenarios in play.
Still, you don't see Ukrainians sinking submarines only surface ships. That doesn't mean Russian subs are not in the Black Sea. Norway is "blue water" territory not the Black Sea. This exercise is exactly what NATO needs in this area. I'm sure they'll eventually get to the UUV and USV exercises, (Baltics) but right now, those Russians subs are out there off of Norway, Sweden, and Finland.
@@kennychad2821 So as a former Naval sailor and contractor I will let this statement go as uninformed or as someone wanting to have a conversational tussle, but I would ask you to consider doing some serious research prior to making statements on RU-vid.
I hope you guys don't cheat and use the sea bed listening sensors. They should do all the work. That said, if they are targeted then yes this drill of finding bad guy subs is very important.
When it comes to Gotland it’s not just that it is silent, the thing to listen for is the lack of sound, to find that whole in the water without sounds of any kind what so ever 🦻
