This is the side of Matsuri that people often overlooked, people think her as a chaotic, perverted, lolicon. While thats true, they have never seen this side of Matsuri before the gentle, calm, wholesome, cute Matsuri. This is what makes me a Matsurisu and that will never change

I think hating a person ends as a fruitless pursuit. Humans make mistakes, and it is inevitable that some others have differing values than you in part from how they were raised or what situations they have experienced. However, I don't think hate is useless. Anger itself is a strong motivator, but part of healthy psychology is acknowledging those feelings and understanding how to channel those emotions into aspects of life that can improve you or the situation around you. I feel like the object of hatred shouldn't be a person, but instead an experience, idea, or situation that directly opposes some of the values you hold. Seeing injustices happen around the world shouldn't necessarily lead to a cold apathy for the subject, but can rather drive someone to take action to protect the values and things that they care about. I believe that anger can be used to protect others from the pain and injury that we have faced ourselves, or that we have seen others face. Using it as a weapon to harm others will only lead to more hate.

There seem to be some people who are missing her point or mixing up the two topics she discusses in this clip. It's partly the fault of the way I clipped it, but I wanted to include both discussions. Of course, at the end of the day this is Matsuri's opinion and you're free to disagree, but there are some people in the comments whom I would encourage to rewatch the clip and make sure you understand the points she's actually trying to make first. Again, she talks about two separate things in this clip, with a transition in between. Also keep in mind you are watching only a short excerpt, in translation. I did the best I could to convey what she said clearly, and I don't believe I misrepresented anything, but I also can't force everybody to read my translation the correct way.

@Nyar You can avoid being abused and being naïve without hate. Like Matsuri said, the opposite of liking someone isn't hating them. Either avoid or do something to stop them. Hate is a more personal thing that goes above and beyond self-preservation. It ain't healthy.

well, she's blessed with a strong heart, really. i did agree with her, back then when i was more naive. but i realized i was wrong until i finally meet a person i really can't help but hate, like, i really hate hating on anyone because it's tiring, but that time i can't help myself but to hate on them, like there is no option but to hate on them, my heart filled with hate and i can't do anything to stop it. so, yes, do anything you can to spread love, no hate. but if you DO hate, and you can't help yourself, it's no shame, that person probably deserved to be hated anyway.

The opposite of love is indifference. And hate is just another obssession. It's good to let go of hate, but it's not always easy. Matsuri says badmouthing is the one thing that bothers her, but she also said before she doesnt like lying and cheating etc. Clearly there is far more there than what's on the surface. Cutting ties the moment someone does something you dislike is also very reactionary. Sometimes communication is what is needed more than anything. Hating or ghosting are steps that should be taken when there is no more ground for compromise in my opinion. The reason Matsuri notices those who constantly say they love her every day is because it's a limited amount. If everyone did it, it would just be another mass of people you cant identify. That's why you shouldnt throw around love like it is a greeting. It waters down its power. Matsuri is someone who cannot go an hour without expressing her love to someone or something and I think that is very cute. Yet, sometimes I see people who consider it tedious and overbearing in real life. Striking a balance may be necessary.

@@kuratse205 Yeah... coin doesnt work in this context. Indifference is a lack of investment and emotion in something, meanwhile love is excessive emotion and investment. Love and hate are the same thing in both ends of the spectrum. Indifferene is the opposite of both.

like when your just a kid who doesn't know a thing always gets angry at others and tries to discipline them and then they bully you or tease you, for pointing out something that isn't exactly easy for them to accept even though it's the truth. At one point you were someone who cared for others then over the years you're hate builder up you can realize how pretty exhausting it is to keep hating something for many years and at the endpoint you just don't care anymore whether they die or live or whether they had problems and needed help. You got me there, Matsuri. I also grew tired of hating, just like how I ended up caring for a certain female anime character I once hated so much for being a Mary Sue - I rewrote her character to become better however I can instead of slamming her with hate all the time for no reason. This truly is the divine wisdom of Matsuri, and I wish more people gets to see this side of her more often so that less would get the wrong idea about her.

Really intelligent and great words here, Hate is opposite and equal to Love in terms of intensity and energy. They're both extremely strong emotions, when you love or hate somebody it means you care about them in the deepest possible way, however, Hate means that you're using a great amount of energy to spread and feed negativity, and that kind of mindset will lead yourself and others to be miserable (see hateful ideologies and people who identify with that hate) Those people will never feel or give any positivity to the world, and because of that they're really just wasting their lives to care about things that they don't have or need to. The fact that Matsuri's thought process is "If I don't like you I'll simply stop caring" shows emotional intelligence, and it's something that a lot more people should take up

Another reason to love Matsuri added to my already long list. I dislike hating people as well, as it consumes more energy than necessary. However, once people start badmouthing the people I care about, I will have no choice but to bust out all my guns and go all-out on the offensive when I realize that their insults are uncalled for. I wouldn't hesitate to turn on my friends if they were doing something uncalled for, as well. It's not an issue of hating people, but one of hating their actions. In the end, I believe that relationships are most important, never the problem that would eventually reach a resolution in some way or another.

When I took the entrance exam for a university, there was a question where they ask you for the opposite of the word "love". I got it wrong, of course, and the right answer is actually "indifference". At first, it didn't make sense to me, but when I thought about it long enough, it started to make sense. You cannot "hate" something without loving it in some way. It's 2 sides of the same coin. You have to be passionate or to care enough for something in order to love or hate it. To not care about something, "indifference", is the opposite of both "love" and "hate". In a way, not caring about a person you dislike is kinda like telling them "You're not worth my time or effort.". I guess, it's the reason why it feels more painful when a friend gives you the cold shoulder than when a friend is yelling at you. I dunno why I'm commenting this, but I guess seeing Matsuri talk about love and hate made me remember.

I wish I could stop hating things. There's something wrong with me. If I could get my hatred for certain things out of my head I'd be a much happier person, but I can't. Things I love are ruined by the wrong people and companies touching them. I can't find a niche to settle into because the niche will become popular and be ruined by people and things I hate.

Yeah, I have a close friend that also has issues with hate and anger, he stays quiet about it with others and then come to me to vent. He grew up with an unloving, abusive and unreasonable dad, the mom is just holding on for dear life hoping to not piss him off... I grew up on similar terms as well, and weren't allowed to go anywhere besides school, and... I became really hollow, lacking emotions and social interection, which is how I became an introvert... I can't really hate anyone now, because everything else pales in comparison to the hate I felt for that man...It just seems so mundane for anything else now. I didn't discover the Internet until late 2011, and when I did, it was heaven for me, I didn't get to experience any of this until I moved out. RU-vid being my favourite site even until now. One day man, one day, you'll be out of hatred, you may be 60 or at your death bed by then, but one day it'll burn out. For some people, it's perfect normal to hate. They will tell you that as well. And also, it's perfectly normal to get frustrated, like getting used to new features in games, failing, or not being able to be perfect, it's just natural. Anyway, since I'm an introvert, I give pretty terrible life advice, so take that as you will

@@kuratse205 yes, but his case isn't as simple as that, he even mentions that he doesn't want to hate certain things that are impacting his life, for example. If your ex were to cheat on you and you break up, you should just remove that person from your life, it's not even necessary to curse them to their graves. As for companies and people... There is useful Criticising, and there is Hate. Only one of them will help them grow. And hate being entirely useless. But yes, If you're gonna hate, do it in Moderation, and don't go causing harm to people.

On one hand, she's right about hate being just another obsession. On the other hand, it's also important to never forget that cocooning yourself into an echo chamber isn't the best thing to do. I know Matsuri isn't implying this, but we already live in a world that constantly assaults us for not joining their side and all that nasty stuff. I think she's talking about antis in this case, people who go out of their way to hate on an idol, where it's better to just ignore them and focus on your fans rather than pay attention to them.

Hating people for hating something else when people usually don't even choose if they hate something or not (nor do they choose what they hate) is pretty dumb, ngl. I realize that saying that it's dumb is doubly ironic considering what I just said, but I'm saying it anyway. Just because you like seeing only positivity wherever you go, it doesn't mean that everyone else should be expected to ever only spread positive emotions. Hating people for that sounds really just selfish as hell. "Why are you complaining about something? I'm trying to be happy and positive here, stop it!" Really just can't respect that stance, but whatever.

@@lygerTL If anything, I might be reading too far between the lines, but with public personalities of any kind they often do have a certain way of trying to weasel around saying what they think but in a way that doesn't sound as harsh to many people, and I personally think that I'm relatively good at sensing when something like that is being done or not, and this case really smells to me like it being exactly one of those 'weaselings'.

I think you're going even further off the mark with your reply. She never says she hates people who hate things. She says 1) holding onto hate is a waste of energy and 2) she doesn't like people who badmouth others. I have no idea what you're going on about with "public personalities" and "weaseling" and whatever, especially considering she's being extremely frank here.

@@lygerTL She mentioned an example of 'if somebody badmouthed Matsurisus', eg. a group of people or what could sensibly here be understood as a type of person somebody might dislike. Such a subject once came up with Pekora's fanbase being badmouthed/hated by some because too many people were randomly spamming "peko" wherever they went. I see no problem with badmouthing/complaining about people who do things that annoy you or, in other words: types of people you hate. Due to the logic of the aforementioned example, if somebody said he hated a type of person with certain qualities that Matsuri is acquainted with/likes, she'd in turn hate the person who said he hated them. And frankly I think that that's just, for lack of a better word, *dumb.*

She's sweet to say stuff like that, but I honestly disagree. Its very naive to think that just being nice will result in people being nice to you. "Just give love and you'll receive love!" is sadly just a big ass lie. Dont take that advice, people. You'll regret it sooner or later.

@@VCofdaG I mean, she's just saying if you be positive towards people, they'll likewise reciprocate and be positive towards you. Like of course, this doesn't hold in 100% circumstances, but as a general rule of life, it's quite sound. Anyone would rather hang out with someone who's happy and positive rather than a cynical downer.

@@ying0878 Well, if we're talking about general mood/demeanor then yeah, I'd agree on that. Thing is I saw it as preaching a certain way of life, which can crush you if youre not careful enough. Real world is never so kind as to reward good people regularly.
