Wow! I love the hybrid pool/pond look with all the lights showing the beautiful water and sandstone walls. It’s amazing and perfect to get that in such a tiny backyard! What a treasure to have this for those homeowners!

Thanks Greg for the amazing Vlog journey we've been on with you for the last few weeks. Thanks so much for embracing and sharing our work with the world! We love building them all and sharing them all. From pondless streams, to ecosystem ponds, to swimming ponds, pool conversions and these hybrid style swimming and plunge ponds visited in this vlog. I think projects like these are the future of swimming ponds in a suburban environment with often limited access and working space, and are just a fantastic way to live the Aquascape Lifestyle with a natural freshwater ecosystem to experience in your own backyard.

This was a great VLOG showing 2 structured ponds of interest. I was wondering is it a specific non-Home Depot type blocks and cement used? I was concerned the materials would affect the fish and Plant environment. Great work Tony and to your team!!

Thanks for your comment and kind words! The blocks are locally quarried natural limestone. They are a commonly used structural landscape block here in Perth WA for retaining walls, raised garden beds etc We have found it causes slightly higher than usual pH being limestone but nothing too dramatic. You could use locally sourced natural blocks if you have that kind of thing in your area or machine made blocks would generally be okay too. Aquascape construction in Chicago have successfully used a lot of machine made blocks in their contemporary style builds over the last few years. We used an M4 cement mortar mix for laying the blocks. We also gave it plenty of time to cure before filling with water.

That swimming pool pond is cool, but I bet they wish they had gone bigger.

Can’t go any bigger. This fills the whole back yard! This is much the same swimming pond area as the most common size of the usual rock pool style we build. It’s just a little narrower but makes up for it by being longer.

@thinkgreenlandscapes Ha! But thar doesn't mean the wish they couldn't go bigger! It is gorgeous, though. Especially the shots at night with it lit up. I was always against having lights in the pond because they aren't "natural" but builds like these have changed my thinking.

Not sure about this one, but we plant Taro in almost all our wetland filter ponds. Beautiful lush plant and edible. Win. Win.

I wish I could show you my firepit build and my outdoor kitchen bar I'm building all by myself I'm a 5ft 1in Nana so kids can come get food and sit at the bar and eat after swimming and built the firepit over by it I made the firepit a skeleton key shape because I made flame grills coming off the firepit
