I had two epidural babies and I attempted with both natural just couldn't stand the pain. my first postpartum sounded like yours I was depressed had a hard time connecting with baby, and bleed for 3 weeks. but my second postpartum even with a epidural was amazing I felt great other then sleep deprived, I didn't even bleed for a week and no depression. so from personal experience I had amazing experience with epidural and no side affects.
This was what I needed to hear!!! I had epidural with my first baby and now Im pregnant again and considering natural birth because of the awful postpartum experience I had!!! I couldn't feel any pain as you said and bc of that I had a second degree tear which made postpartum experience awful! At the same time I remember how much I cried and shivered with contractions and how I felt after the epidural, it was heaven. But not feeling your legs and just lying on bed again was weird! It is a tough decision!!
As someone who can never experience labor or birth vaginally, I am always so amazed and intrigued by the experience and this was so informative! It is amazing that you went through natural birth, you’re so incredibly strong!
Such an interesting perspective and I love it! I had an epidural twice and all natural no epidural twice. As far as pain, I think proper preparation is key! Otherwise during natural birth it can feel overwhelming, or even the lead up to an epidural it can be overwhelming. I finally figured it out and was able to talk, smile and be super calm during my last natural birth. I am happy I was able to do it because it was in the car lol.
My due date is December 3rd. I had my daughter september 3rd last year naturally. I already plan to go natural again, its still nice hearing about both sides of things from someone whose done both. Thanks for the video
I had a epidural with my first born son. I ended up having forceps because I couldn't feel the urge to push and my son was born not breathing and 5hey had to revive him. My other two births were natural no tearing and I was home the same day with both of them.
I always like to hear from people who have tried both. Good perspective. I will say I’ve delivered 3 with an epidural and my first was a harder recovery. I think there’s something about your body not having done it before. My second and third recoveries were a breeze. So that’s something to consider too. What number birth is it for you.
That's a relief that you said the pushing part wasn't as bad as contractions. I got an epidural at 8cm and I don't even feel like I needed it, I was just scared to birth without it so I gave in. But this time I want to do it without one so since I know I can get through those contractions, and you say it's different while pushing, that gives me more confidence that I really can do this without an epidural. So thank you for that ❤️
Yes the pushing is such a relief! Transition is the hardest part (8-10cm)! Just get through it! I was begging for meds but told my husband to say no. You will feel like you can’t get through it but just remember relief is on the other side, use a comb, rest as much as possible before! Honestly drink some coffee or hydrating energy drink, essential oils, I felt like sleeping between my pushes nurses thought I had an epidural but I didn’t and just push with your contractions, your contractions might slow down but good! Take that test! Plus it helps you from not tearing, bc the baby is slowly stretching your muscles out! I wish I would have just rested more during that time we ended up vacuuming him out and I tore, but now I know I should have just relaxed during that time bc he was ok, but I was just soooo exhausted. You can do it mama!
I am so sorry you had a traumatic experience during your birth. I know this can be the case for many women. I pray that if you choose to get pregnant again, however you decide to labor/deliver your baby, it will be such a redeeming experience.
This was a great video!! I’ve had two epidural births and now I’m considering doing an all natural birth next time around, I’ve heard that the recover is WAY better! ❤️
You all prolly dont give a shit but does someone know a method to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my password. I appreciate any help you can give me!
My hospital offers nitrous oxide that you can breath as you want/need during contractions. This seems like a really good option for me, because it's pain management that is very short acting and works well.
For me, I want to try natural this time (next month i'm due). For my first I had Pitocin and an epidural. I think If I end up with another epidural, I would be ok with it, we'll see how it goes. I can't complain about that, I was up pretty soon after. I think the biggest thing that messes with us in that cocktail is the Pitocin. It messes with our natural endorphins and hormones and I've heard its been linked to PPD. I went into labor naturally and my water broke, but I was not progressing for hours and that is why they gave me the Pitocin, so I'm hoping things go a bit more smoothly on that front.
I had a fully unmedicated birth with my first baby - a star gazer - and i have no regrets. When i think of the birth i have such fond memories. With the next ones i will do the same.
I was in labor for 3 days with induction so the pain was unbearable . I decided to get the epidural on the 3rd day and he didn’t put my epidural in far enough bc I have a narrow spine so even after the epidural I still felt pain but it wasn’t as painful but then when I pushed I felt everything!!!! The epidural itself wasn’t bad at all but maybe it’s bc I was in so much pain that needle pain was like nothing lol
I got an epidural on my 3rd baby he was a V-bac.. The bad news is it didn’t work I was still screaming so they put fentanyl in the catheter in my back!!! I swear no lie I could have ate 10 turkey and Swiss on rye sandwiches and pushed out 10-15 babies laughing and talking like it was nothing..
I'm pregnant with baby no 7 I've had only one epidural I think it makes the labor longer alot of the time I got sick and my bp dropped, I couldn't feel to push so pushing was harder and took alot longer..my natural labors are better when I can go on my own I've been induced twice and it's so hard that way it's like a whole new level of pain is introduced and takes alot longer for me this time I'm so concerned about possible induction with this baby but his health comes first 🙏
Baby 7!! That’s AMAZING!! So so happy for you momma! Praying for you that you will have a smooth labor and delivery and for peace during the whole process (including the remainder of your pregnancy) ♥️
That depends. Some people do because I think they try to turn it down at the end so you can fee when you need to push. But they put my epidural in too far so I was SUPER numb and couldn’t feel a single thing. 🤷🏼♀️
yes i felt the ring of fire and wasn’t expecting it cause my epidural did a good job numbing me everywhere else 😅 but the ring of fire lasted only a few seconds for me right when my sons head came out then it completely went away so don’t worry about this part of birth 👍🏻🙂
Thank you for this video, currently 18 weeks and am very vrry much considering the natural birth (as much as I can handle it). It is interesting to hear your experiences with both & I am just hoping I can do a natural birth (& as you said, if needed I can get an epidural or meds.)
Loved hearing your perspective on both!!! I wanted to do it naturally so badly with Mia, but they wouldn’t let me walk around while I was hooked up after they broke my water for at least a half hour they said, and I think THAT’S probably when I needed to be walking around the most because the pain was soooooo darn intense! And my contractions had no breaks in between! So I chickened out.. 😔 lol. Oh well.
Hapa Family don’t feel bad about that though! And you did NOT chicken out! All labors are different and I could only do it naturally cause it went so fast, had it been longer I would’ve TOTALLY gotten an epidural.
I have read that epidurals are linked to lower rate of postpartum depression. I think the subject is interesting but again every body and every birth different.
