Colorado National Monument is one of nature's masterpieces! Featuring epic scenery and breathtaking hikes, Colorado National Monument is definitely a park you don't want to miss! Featuring the Rim Rock Drive, an amazing 23 mile scenic drive through the park, and 14 hikes ranging from 1/2 a mile to 14 miles+, Colorado National Monument is an incredible adventure only minutes outside of Grand Junction, Colorado!
We hiked the Serpents Trail on our first day there, as well as Liberty Cap Trail and others along the Rim Rock Drive, but Cupcake needed a day off so I hiked to Independence Monument on the Monument Canyon Trail solo! The whole trip there was an amazing experience and one we really weren't prepared for - we really hadn't even heard of Colorado National Monument until we arrived in the area! Our initial plans were to drive the Million Dollar Highway, visit Black Canyon National Park, and explore the Grand Mesa. All of those places are very close to Colorado National Monument, so it just made the entire area that much more incredible for us! If you're in the area to visit Arches National Park (2 hours away), Black Canyon National Park (less than 2 hours away), Million Dollar Highway (a little more than an hour down to Ouray), or Telluride (2 hours away), you have to spend time at Colorado National Monument - it is an amazing place!
