In this video I worked with Nauticus Inc. to develop a low profile kit to work with Yamaha Jet-boats. This kit surprised me in many ways and in this video I show you live footage of their performance as well as give you descriptions and my opinions of the difference they made on my boat.

I put these on a 19.5' stern drive Bayliner. The only down side is backing up they will catch water of course, and it will delay change of direction which is a really big deal for my wife, as she would then spin the steering wheel in the wrong direction, since it wasn't responding to her initial inputs. It helps reduce "wander" too at slow/idle speeds. These are way better than a "whale tail". I have used those too.

we just ordered a 2023 Yamaha 222 FSH Sport E, was hoping the 2023 would have came stock with a trim tab system.

Nice boat!! No jetboat comes with a tab system. They haven’t caught on to the value yet. Plus, this is the first kit that actually works on the newer models. We just designed this 3 weeks ago. Hopefully Yamaha will hit me up 😂

Thank you. These are not bolted on. They’re stout stainless steel screws with the plates and screws being sealed to the hull just like a transducer or an underwater light.

Have you had a chance to test these while having unbalanced weight onboard? I know at times people shift on the boat and the boat tilts to that side cause it has more weight. I'm curious if it adjust and keeps the boat level and not tilted to the port or starboard side?

It will if you know before hand what side will be weighted and adjust them prior to but not for shifts while underway. You manually adjust them out of the water.

I have had no issues and zero leaks. As for wakesurf I don’t know as I don’t have that in mine.

Yes, I plan to put lights out there. It’s best to get them as close to within 5” of the outboard section as possible.

I have a Hurricane with 115. It really struggles to get on plane. Especially when it’s loaded down. Will these help? Kinda embarrassing to have a nice boat and I gotta get a fat boy to bounce on the bow to get on plane.

Yes these will work for that as well. Depending on how your transom is you need to get the right length strut for that style. If you call them they will set you up and mention thefshdude to get a discount.

The porpoise motion and awful tracking when hitting another boats wake on these boats is pretty rough. I’d buy these just for that.

Yes, and you can adjust them individually to prevent listing.

What happens when you put the jet in reverse? Do they catch and not allow you to go backwards or?..

As stated in the video they have actually added more control in reverse. No noticeable difference in reverse thrust.

I have noticed my ar210 goes up to 12mph or so, then a gap, then about 24 mph. will these help me cruise between 12 and 24 mph? or is that just how my boat drives

That sounds like cavitation. Have you had it looked at by a professional? But, if it’s because of trouble getting on plane then yes these will help that.

Did you notice any cavitation issues after? I thought trim tabs weren't used on Jet boats because the Jet needs to be underwater fully.

Not at all, remember these are like shocks on your car. They do not over-force your bow down like actuated trim tabs they just apply reactionary force to keep you from porpoising. This is the reason these work on jet boats.

No interference with either and even adds to the controllability. This is info relayed from 252 and 255 owners.

These struts come fully extended, they will compress to level with the hull's surface when up to speed or if needed for moving your boat with a forklift.

No, it’s too easy to do and takes 15 minutes. The video would be pointless to do as it’s just me drilling screw holes and screwing them in. If you can drill a hole and turn a screw driver then you’re good 👍🏼 The instructions are well detailed by the company. 🤙🏼

What a load of crap! There is NO WAY that they are getting better mileage or better top end! It takes constant force to compress those springs and hold those tabs up. This will only get you better hole shot and more stable ride in chop. With ANY powered trim tabs you must lift the tabs out of the water to attain previous full speed.

You can believe what you want but I’m just reporting my findings. These are self adjusting tabs not powered and the stern out of the water the less surface area drag. I think you’re thinking of powered tabs that are fixed and must be operated manually. Keeping less surface area in the water without forced drag like powered trim tabs increases top speed and fuel economy. You don’t have to trust me just do your research. Many videos out there on this other than mine and you can call the company they even state it as well.
