This humble speech will touch a lot of you on a personal level. How can you and I navigate life as a procrastinating perfectionists? Let's have a laugh and find out! Etudiante, en 3ème année à l'INSA Lyon (école d'ingénieur), Salma Abdelmohsen vous présente comment avancer dans la vie en tant que procrastinateur(-rice) professionnel(-le). As a procrastinator I use the productivity "SPRINTS" which is basically sprints with a given time ( ex: 1 Sprint = 30 minutes ) Throughout the day I'll do about 3 or 4 Sprints each about 30 minutes long and in between each Sprints I will take a 15 minute break. So far it has been effective for me and I advise you to research more in this strategy before you try it. Best wishes to you all.

I suffer from perfectionism and procrastination all my life and I am 47 years old. Sometimes it gets really bad. I hope to get better one day

The Pomodoro technique was the worst! I tried it and my anxiety only went up. I was less focused because I was getting interrupted by frequent breaks. The app was taking so much of my time trying to perfectly set everything up in it. I use the Power Hour focus method and Time Blocking.

It’s exactly what I do. Think, then have an idea, then cross it out, come out with new ideas, on and on. Doubt and doubt the perfection of my ideas.

I thought this was very helpful! i definitely have experienced this in my life throughout school and even in adulthood. I can even find it hard to do things that I am passionate about because I want them to be perfect. The cycle that you explained is exactly how I feel sometimes- paralyzed by thought and never actually starting the task I set out to do. Thank you for your discussion on this topic!

I’ve tried all 3 strategies, they as basic strategies in every book about this. Her entire talk was to end it with these 3 basic things? They don’t work. I have set deadlines many times, I just simply ignore them because I know they are fake. I have friends who are very organized with their time- nope- it doesn’t rub off on me. Probably need hypnosis.

I’am a perfectionist procrastinator, and the laziest. The deadline solution which i found out my self that i only work by deadlines i even say to my boss or any one to give me fake deadlines, I don’t think any other methods can save me, but i need to find more techniques this alone is not sufficient enough to help me be productive

So these solutions didn't resolve her procrastination issues seeing as she prefaced the entire Ted talk with the confession that she prepared it at the very last minute (only 24-48 hours beforehand). Pointless waste of time lecture.
