A common misconception… or expectation, about the healing process is that when you’ve “healed” you won’t struggle with certain things, or anything at all, any longer.
In today’s video, I share a piece of awareness that came about after reflecting on how something in my current life can bring up some not so great feelings.
Join me as I explore the how and why seemingly unrelated things can create struggle in our current lives and how to navigate… and heal through it.
Can you relate? Have you often that you “shouldn’t” feel the way you do? Share your experiences below.

Yes, your video resonated with me. I've had many experiences, far too many to name here where I have been emotionally triggered and not understood the reason for how I was left feeling. Some were around implicit memory that was in the unconscious and where body memories were triggered. With continued healing and by remaining curios, I'm now able to gain a deeper understanding on many levels, cognitive, emotional, and in my body, as you were in the example you have given. I love working with the inner child it has been so healing for me to be able to connect with the hurt, pain, and joy that lives within my child parts. Self-compassion is so helpful here. Thanks for your video and your personal share😊❤

I relate to this so much and I have never connected these feelings to my childhood, but that is definitely the root of it. I find that it comes up a lot when I go to my parents house. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

I'm so glad it helped you connect these dots. Being back in an environment (whether a place or people) where there was hurt can so easily bring up quite a bit. Thank you for sharing. ❤️

What gets me is when I'm trying to figure out something socially, and I miss things. I feel like I'm socially so bass-ackward (pig latin). A dear colleague/friend of mine says she sees me as quite perceptive and socially aware, but the things I'm picking up on are different than what most people do. So, it's like I'm tuned to a different frequency. And I realize that part of my reaction has to do with 1) having a lot of shame around lack of social skill teaching which led to a lot of 2)bullying. Between the abuse at home and the bullying/abuse at school, I'm tuning into people's moods, tone of voice, and body language. Especially tone of voice. It can bring me back to feeling deeply unsettled when the words I hear coming out of people's mouths don't match the tone of voice or behaviors. THAT will send me into a very guarded place.

You're definitely not alone in feeling incredibly guarded in situations like that. ❤️ There's so much healing that can happen as you explore what it all means for you. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing this, Peggy! For me a huge trigger is people being late or keeping me waiting. Because as a child, we never knew whether my father would show up when he was supposed to, or he’d leave us in the car for hours while he attended to “business”, and when he did show up we never knew if he was there to help or to harm. This has often left me either panicking or feeling uncontrollable rage way out of proportion to what is actually happening. And with healing and knowing where it comes from, my emotions don’t overwhelm me in these situations any more.

You're definitely not alone in this. ❤️ Having an experience like that can create incredibly deep wounding in quite a few ways. I'm glad healing has helped release some of the energy and fears associated with it. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for sharing ❤. I recognize the sense of a little powerlessness. when I'm with my family I instantly kind of adapt to what they are doing (not always or all of the time) instead of feeling and checking within myself if that is what I want. Your post brought it even more to my attention. 🙏

OhmygoodnessYes! It sounds like I had a similar experience in going to a school where the majority of students came from different backgrounds and income brackets than my own. I think I spent the majority of that time in a state of derealization for a myriad of reasons. It has taken me many years to get to the point that I can kinda/sorta talk about my early life experiences and I feel like my school environment compounded my tendency to avoid. Unfortunately, I suspect that this is an area that I will need to contend with because my inclination is to immediately flinch away in discomfort, which tells me I’m still avoiding. I’m also still trying to figure out how to articulate/verbalize my feelings around that piece of my experience (in addition to all the other pieces).

What is window trim? Is it what we'd call curtains?
@Dvus7926

It’s the wood finish that conceals the gap between the window 🪟 and frame 😊

What @Dvus7926 said. 😊 It's also referred to as molding, similar to trim around door frames.
