I ship April 3rd as an OS, I went in with a low score and will be taking advantage of the 3 week ASVAB class for LS or AZ. I’m thankful for having college credits that helped me get in.
Im 34 i took the asvab i got a low score so im still studying for this month so i have to take it later and hopefully pass it ... looking forward to it and ready for the journey...
I was a MM in the Navy...the majority of the time it was hardwork unless you worked in the supply shop. I did 2 deployments on 2 different Aircraft Carriers to the Middle-east and it was tough and hotttt....You're right bootcamp is probably going to be the toughest thing to deal with unless you get deployed on a ship for 6 to 12 months. However, outside of the hardwork I had some great times and still travel today. Salute! 💯
Wow! It’s perfect hearing from someone that was actually an MM, thank you for your insight! Very helpful. 🤞🏽 I’m happy that you still get to travel and enjoy life! 🔥 #goals
I’ve been lurking in your videos for a few days 😅 I’m going in at age 32, but in the reserves. Honestly, everything you said is helping a lot. I need to drop some weight and study, but next month I’ll know if I go to boot camp in September or October 🎉 🌊 ⚓️
I’m an ABH about to graduate A-school, I remember watching my your videos before getting sent to bootcamp in August 😭 I’m so excited to head to Japan soon and get on the flight deck 🤭
Just basically watched all you navy videos and I've been considering army and airforce but navy seems like more of a fit for me. These are so helpful made a document to write everything down so i can start doing these things before i even go talk to a recruiter.
Undes lit depending on where u go. The navy does pact rodeos meaning what ever you pick is guaranteed instead of being in competition on mynavy assignment. I struck AT and im in a VP squadron which is the best sea duty orders in the navy. Dont be scared to take undes. Plus its the shortest contract if you dont like it
@@Brionnasonline I need your help… I passed the Asvab and I can be an E-3, but the recruiter said PS positions were held and may take a year to re-open. Another option is to enlist through another position and work for one year, then I’d be automatically set for PS E-4. Would you think is worthy since the positions are very operational: ABE, ABD, ABH, AS, BU, CS, EN, EO, MM, MR, PR, RS, SW, UT. P.S: I’m not citizen yet.
Shipboard Life - In port I was stationed on two different ships, a guided missile cruiser (CG-31) from 1992-1994 and a guided missile frigate (FFG-58 from 1994-1997) and I can tell you it was not a “9-5” job, even when we were in port. On a ship in port, you have a “duty day” which requires you to be on the ship for 24 hours until the next “duty section” relieves you. The ship divides the crew up into duty sections, the cruiser was split up into 5 duty sections and the frigate was split up into 4 duty sections then went to five (but required duty personnel to have double watches). Let’s say you have duty on Monday, you have your regular workday and then you stand a noon - four watch, then you go back to work until dinner, then have a duty section fire drill and or security alert drill. After the drill you may still have something to do for your division and clean up common areas when called to do so. If all this is done, then you can relax or go to bed. It is very likely that you have another watch either Midnight - 4 AM (“balls to four”) or 4 am to 8 am. If you are unlucky to have the “balls to four watches” you would get off watch at 3:45 am and try to go back to sleep until, say 6:00 am. You can always tell who had their “duty day” cause usually they were in a bad mood or have a “I don’t care I am on duty” attitude. If say you were up all night at sea and you pulled in, you may have duty and be up 24 hours due to in port watches or vice versa be up a night in port then get underway and be up all night on watch at sea. I have noticed most of the cheerful podcasters are either people who have not gone to sea or have gone too sea but not stationed on one as their permanent duty station, so they do not get the feel the day to day, month to month and year to year grind of the ship. On top of that, when I was in, unless you were married, had money outside of your navy pay or lived with a group of guys off base, the ship was your home every day in port or at sea. It is not for everyone, and we had plenty of people on both ships going UA and or breaking down mentally (especially when in the shipyard.) I am not knocking my time in the Navy just giving you a realistic picture of shipboard life.
I am going in the 23rd of may as an AD. I scored 84 on my asvab but unfortunately majority of jobs i wanted to do i had to be a citizen. I still chose AD because i really enjoy service/maintance jobs. I will be naturalizong in bootcamp hopefully
Hey Brionna!💓 I’ve been thinking about going into the navy and I’m actually meeting my recruiter Thursday. I’ve worked as a medical assistant and CNA. I know for sure I want to be on the medical side of things preferably a hospital corpsman. Do you think I have a good chance of getting that rate? Your videos have helped me sooo much and your light and positivity is so infectious!! You definitely have a new supporter!🫡
Brionna I love your content and was at the graduation this past week!! Congratulations to our sailors!! I was too shy to go up to you and thank you for the awesome content. I need advice, my husband just graduated boot camp and I want to join as well but need alittle help convincing my husband to let me join. I have always been very interested in joining and never had the courage until now!
I’m a IT in the navy I just finished IT a school and started IT C school soon after IT 6 year contracts aren’t what they seem anymore if you aren’t joining at E-3 you’ll have to wait till you reach E-3 to get the E-4 and leadership will take forever with your process
@@lailiecarrillo I did ROTC back in highschool but if you have a good recruiter and help them recruit 4 you can rank up from E-1 to E-3 or you can help recruit 2 and get ranked up to E-2 and get ranked up in bootcamp
It might be a dumb question, but how long do they give you in the morning and night to get ready? Like how do you do your skincare? Do you have time to floss and brush, wash your face, do your hair, etc. there was another girl who said they steal stuff in bootcamp, is that true?
I am an AD (aviation machinist mate) in the navy in my opinion I thought my boot camp experience was kind of easy aside from those multiple-choice test I thought that was hard but I think working on your rate is more demanding yes they are chill but when you start getting a ton of work orders in one day to get finished or one work takes weeks or months to do in a timely manner then that is more demanding but that is in different rates some rates not so much demanding and some are and for my rate at my at my squadron you have to be careful on maintenance on aircraft one negligent maintenance miss something on aircraft or FOD could end someone’s life and your working on 8 plus aircraft but I had it easy in boot camp it is easy to follow but hard to accomplish something as a hole and oh getting qualifications are heavily demanding too
I need advise. I've been watching your videos for the longest time. Everyone that is in my life is telling me not to go to the navy and saying i'm never going to make it. I really want to go to the navy but everyone is trying to put bad things in my head about the navy. What should I do? Is the navy the best option?
Let me tell you. I have been through the same situation. Last year I told my mom I wanted to join the marines and she opposed so bad that she put the whole family against me, I felt I was doing the wrong thing and proceded to waste 1 year of my life, yes I was working, but I got out of shape and whatnot. About a month ago I started looking into the navy and it looked great. I already knew majority of the benefits and what it because of jrotc and talking with the marines but I still learned some stuff. When I went to meps, I did not pass weight, they had to do a belly measurement. I pushed myself as hard as I could 3-4 weeks prior going to meps and I was able to drop just enough to make the belly test. I ship out in a month and right now I'm pushing myself as much as I can to reach my goals. If I did, so can you, but it's about commitment to the cause
Hi girly! What are your thoughts on RS (Retail Service Specialist) & CS (Culinary Specialist)? I first choice would be RS bc I’m interested in doing hair & barbering & I wanna learn the skills of operating a shop.
Hey girlyy!! Environment wise and overall experience of living I would definitely choose RS over CS! 😭 You’ll be more so of customer service, I would recommend CS more so if you want to learn how to cook literally lol
I know you made this a while ago but i have a question. At boot camp will they go through your medical records/history like how they do at MEPS? Or will they just do dental, physical, hearing and all that stuff?
How is the Navy for single mothers that want to go active after A school. Will i be able to move my son where im at and also be still be able to see him everyday
Good question, uggh I should’ve covered that! 😭 But when you go on deployment for that long and you have an apartment then you’ll have to give your apartment complex a deployment letter so that you can break your lease. The PS’s or YN’s makes one for everybody. You can get a storage unit for all of your belonging, it’s completely optional though but no one wants to pay rent if they’re not living there lol.
@@Brionnasonline Thanks. In regards to the benefits. For example are you able to leave work to go to a doctor or dentist appt? Or are those things you have to take care of on your day off or before you go to work?
I’m very interested and excited about joining Navy this year. Do I have a choice to choice careers that’s last base? Or I have NO CHOICE and Navy will place me on ship ?
Why is it that you gotta have a 50 and up on the asvab test without a ged or diploma but with a ged and diploma you have to make a 10 on the asvab test? make it make sense please 🤨
Hi there I'm 26 and planning to enter the navy. What advice can you give about the medical history part of meps. That's what worries me, do I lie, do i not lie what should I do about this part. Thank you
I wanted to pick PS my score could’ve give me that job but they told me the job is not available until next year October , so I picked HM . Is it possible to change the job during bootcamp??
Hi I was wondering what if your over weight going into the navy because that’s what I’m worried about bc I have to lose 35 pounds and I’m just really worried because I’ve always struggled with weight
I am overweight. My MAXIMUM weight should be 200lbs. Right now as I'm typing this I'm 220. When you go to meps they will do the weight, and if you are overweight, they will measure you with a tape. Your belly cannot be more than 32 inches or they will have to do a bmi full test which is measuring neck, belly and thigh I believe. The regulation is online. I was weighing 230, and I would've nit passed the belly test if I had not dropped those 10 lbs within a month of meps. Right now I'm a month away from leaving and mind you I'm scared because I don't want to lose my privilege to graduate as e3, and if I fail my first mock prt, I can have that right taken away from me, but with enough work I know I will get there
Shipboard life at sea. It is not a carnival cruise line I was stationed on two different ships, a guided missile cruiser (CG-31) from 1992-1994 and a guided missile frigate (FFG-58 from 1994-1997) Shipboard life can be long days depending on what rate (job your trained in) I general everyone on board especially when they are new, must take a giant bite out of “S***t Sandwich” but you get less bites out of it over time as you go up in rank. I say the deck division and the engineering division have it worst at sea and in port as well and get extra bites out of that “sandwich”. The ship can be pitching and rolling to the point you can barely stand up (in rough seas). People who get seasick may be caring around trash bags. You can go what I call “cold dark and stupid”. The ship can lose its propulsion and its electricity, and you can start bobbing around in the ocean like a cork. It is especially fun when you take on fuel at 2:30 in the morning as the ship and the oiler rocks in the waves as you and say 30 other men try to haul over a fuel line, so the ship can top off. You can pull into port and if they cannot dump the CHT (Tank) in time (sewage) partially treated sewage can start coming up through drains and get all over the bottom racks where you may be living and get sewage all in your stored clothes. You can have someone go “berserk” (like threating to set off the halon in the missile magazine or start chopping up mooring lines in the bosun mate locker) and then you must have people watch them 24 / 7 till you can get them off in port. I do want to say it is all bad, I had many great experiences at sea and got to see many places, but it definitely is not glamours or “cool” by any means. Shipboard life can be tough, and it is not for everyone.
I enjoy all your navy videos. You was zooming thru it cause you had work gotta get to the money . Overall the video was informative on the changes of bootcamp . I did try direct messaging you on your instagram you didn’t respond .
