Well here is the Air Power Demo! One of the most recongnized performances of the NAVY that NAS Oceana puts on for the public to see. Here you will see the real deal in a simulated manor. With high G's and high speed.
VFA-31 Tomcatters had the lead for the demo and lead the Fleet Flyby. VFA-143 Pukin Dogs also layed down some vapor right behind felix in the air to ground.
VFC-12 Omars played the red force as two Tomcatters were the good guys in the air to ait. AND of course VFA-106 was responsible for catching the crowd off gaurd.

@ktm511 Thanks!! I'm looking to get an HD camera for the same reasons. Some cameras don't do to good with fast movement but this is very nice! Again nice job and I enjoy all your videos. Keep 'em coming!

@timhortons232 also thrust to weight ratio and acceleration is not an issue with the F-35. There have been F-16 chase planes that had to use AB just to keep up with an F-35 on Mil Power. You should read up more than just air power Australia or whatever website people use to bash the F-35.

As far as fighters under Mach 2, maybe it's a close second to the F-35. It's slow dash speed is an issue.

Thanks for posting this. I haven't seen an air power demo since I was stationed at NAS Cecil Field in the mid 90's. I miss my years with VFA-87. Brings back memories.!!! Seriously, thank you!

The F/A-18E Super Hornet at 12:20 is really nice partly because of the cool paint scheme, but the F @ 13:00 is the sweetest looking of all. Something about the 2-seater that just makes it appear much more badass! The improvements on the Super Hornet such as the larger square intakes and wings and LERX made such a huge improvement from the original. They did that bird some good justice in the upgraded design.

The big problem with the f-35 is that it is using all this fancy tech. and is just shy maxing it's weight limit. They want it to do three jobs with one main frame. The f-35 is, by all means not a dog fighter. it's made to be stealthy, blow up shit on the ground like radar sights and sam sights an then fly away while hopefully never being noticed because if it was, it probably won't last too long.

@timhortons232 You're ignoring the fact that an F-15 going full afterburner for 10 minutes thereby using up all its full just to go past Mach 2(which it can only do in clean config) is useless in combat. Throw on missiles and bombs and you have drag that reduces speed, manuvorability and range. The F-15 has never gone past Mach 1.5 in combat becuase of this. The F-35 does not have that problem bebuase it's weapons, bigger fuel load and sensors are internal.

@superskullmaster A legacy fighter with full fuel and weapons will never be able to get past Mach 1.6 in combat. They can only go Mach 2 in clean configuration for 15 minutes with no weapons. So an F-35 is actually faster for combat than an F-15 or -16 most people don't realize that. It's also true for manuvorability. So top dash speed for Mach 2 fighters it's meaningless.
