WutangBizkit not at all. I said 60$ is not enough anymore because of Virtual Currency. I understand paying more for dlc sometimes. But having to get VC for haircuts and tattoos shoes etc. that is crazy. Now it takes forever to upgrade levels. And the mini games are boring and long. They are made that way so micro transactions are almost a must. I just feel that it sucks that way. My opinion. 👍🏼

Watch the ACG review of NBA2k18, this review is not a review. It's just a paid advertisement so Gamespot can keep their lights on. He doesn't critique anything, and he totally downplays the egregious pervasiveness of micro transactions. This is a dumb bullshit review, like when they give Call of Duty games 9s or 10s. This is why RU-vid reviewers get more views on their channel than IGN or Gamespot, they're actually in-depth and critical, and have a distinct voice and identity with their views. A review with such little analysis would never be applied to an indie or Nintendo game. I'm actually surprised that this review was by Gamespot and not IGN.

oussieiscool I've seen other reviews it's not just the microtransactions. It's the large amount of bugs, poor performance, graphics suffer in certain areas, and voice/sound quality. Overall, this game is a serious step backwards. Without microtransactions, this doesn't deserve a 6.

Apparently the reviewer's name Seth Macy, if you check out his Twitter, he seems to just be a freelance writer, not a Gamespot main writer. He doesn't even mention that he works for GameSpot. Seth G Macy is actually an IGN writer apparently. He's been a Weekend Web Producer at IGN since 2015, and was an IGN Freelance News Writer from 2013. So what the fuck? They outsource their shitty AAA reviews/advertisements to IGN freelance writers because the actual GameSpot team wants to distance themselves in the moral conundrum of compromising their journalistic integrity to keep their publication running? There's reason why there are RU-vid game critiques that get 600-700k views, and it's because people trust their opinion and the quality of their critiques. Seth Macy's slight on microtransactions are also biased because the copy sent to him by 2K came with 200,000 credits, so he doesn't get to see the full extent of how BS the system is. I can't trust this review if he didn't mention how the player animations, and graphics were so unbalanced ranging from good to Gamecube quality, and how the single player town was so poorly done. What the literal fuck, I expect this from IGN, but expect better from Gamespot. WTF Mike Mahardy and the rest of the Lobby? Everybody downin 2k18..look if you only care about myplayer/mycareer then yeah don't buy this. The story and characters are more corny than ever (and that's saying something) but i liked mygm a lot this year & some of the season upgrades and online regular games are amazing. So just depends what you like and how much you like 2k

I'm honestly done with sports game for a couple years. So many reasons why to stop, but the AI manipulation has become more blatant in every sports game over the past few years. Rather than making it more realistic, they've made teammates basically do everything they can to prevent you from doing well vs impeccable play on the other team

I'm afraid Gamespot has been paid off by Ronnie2k and the 2k Gang...This game is a horrible experience....the playground is so laggy that it's really unplayable...I challenge you to play career mode without using VC.... 2k preset game difficulty to pro taking away the option of rookie mode for casuals ... first timers and handicapped players... Made it that way to force your hand to buy VC with actual money just to progress thru to a level that matches the CPU.... That's just some of the dodginess that is going in with the game...So forgive me if I don't agree with your half ass Review of this game... Surprise us and do the NO VC Gring and see if your Review is the same when it's all said and done
Agree with you and you cant even use Rookie mode on career mode to start off for the casuals or people who just want to enjoy the experience so you super suck unless you upgrade big time .Game play is tighter this year but if your stats are low forget about it.2k17 was more fun on an NBA team in career with orange juice then this aside from the neighborhood thing.2K needs rookie pre set in career mode for casuals or people who aren't that good at 1st.
Feels like you got total control of the ball my ass this year has the worst ball controls. They don't respond half the time or do some automatic dibble bullsh+*. Maxed out ball handles stamina and have space, I literally have to press the same this more than once from time to time to work once. These game reviews r bs, it all comes down to the gameplay in my opinion.
Had fun with 2K17 and orange juice but this one 2K18 's career mode aside from the walking around the neighborhood doing stuff thing leaves something to be desired ! I mean at 1st you start off painstakingly missing or coming up short on shots and unless you spend some bucks to get better ;the grind getting badges and increasing your player is very slow slow and your on pro mode which makes it worst as the game this year is tighter. My Ai defender when I have the ball is glued to me and seems to know when I make a move .Also in 2k18 the option to start playing career on rookie setting is NOT included this year, just pro mode and then on up; 2K17 I believe gave you that option but 2K18 in career mode does not, only pro mode and up so its even harder when your player is low on stats to get good shots off so you miss many many even when open. My point is that its not that much fun in career on a NBA team unless you spend to get increased faster. By the time you get your career player up to par doing the grind the next game will come out 2K19. All other modes are good though Franchise GM etc. as at least you can adjust. DeX

This game is nothing more than a game of "FRUSTRATION!" This review is not honest and is why I don't usually use GameSpot as a reputable source for game reviews. The gameplay is terrible and needs an overhaul.

wow it still get a 8 score even after the virtual currency that you have to earn or buy, it's amazing to me how the game can do no wrong after the game is by far not a perfect game that has no problems big or small. nbalive18 doesn't use or need VC to purchase anything or even change the hairstyle of your my player
micro transactions have been in 2k for years. i've had 2k18 since its release and haven't really seen anything different from the past 2 years in terms of incentive to buy vc. No difficulty multiplier is kinda dumb though. I think the real criticism should be in the gameplay. Sure, with every passing year, 2k feels more and more like actual basketball with less chunkiness and this year is no different. But 2k18 forces you to play slower than in previous years, making it less "fun" in a way. It's still early though. Perhaps I just need to get used to it. I hope I'm not the only 2k fan who feels this way.
Taking it back to GameStop and putting 20 on shadow of war got these folks paying real money to buy virtual money to upgrade they virtual player folk really had me tripping game only been out 3 or 4 days and they already 89 😂😂 and that career mode cringe AF!!!! 7/10 for me

The game is a mess. I haven't played a NBA 2K game since 2K12 and it was a great game if you ask me. Especially MyPlayer. I liked that game mode. Why did they have to add a stupid stereotypic story? I'm not here to play an RPG, I'm here to play basketball, not watch stupid cutscenes that makes no sense. I get to watch 10 minutes of cutscenes for every 20 minutes of gameplay. It's stupid. At least let us skip the cutscenes.
Man like I been telling folks don't buy this game. It's straight pathetic and trash. The career mode is pathetic period. That crap about roam free is a great rip off. The Roman free only works if u have internet connection and if ur internet is weak or bad then u can't do the free roam at all, your whole game will shut down and u stuck with a normal mode with no free roam to do. Free roam only works if u have internet people. They not gonna tell u that though.

Such a predatory and anti-consumer business model should not be rewarded with such a good score. You slagged of Prey with a 4/10 due to technical issues, it would have shown a lot more integrity to a) place a clear "do be aware of the malicious business model" warning front and center and b) to adjust the score accordingly. Your job as games media is to inform a customer's buying decision, and a 8/10 suggests this is a worthwhile purchase, which it very obviously is not. Maybe this is not your favorite game or genre, but how long will it take greedy scumbags like Warner Bros, ActiBlizzard and 2K until they royally fuck up your fave game? Seeing how 2017 turned out so far, I guess it's only a matter of months. I bet WWE2K18 will try to pull the same bullshit.
