First example (1:1) ratio: I am holding L2, then I tap LS + R2 at the same time, or LS followed by a R2? 2. 2nd example (shuffling): I am tapping L2 followed by R2 or tapping them both at the same time? (while angling my Left stick in the right direction) 3. 3rd example: same as above except holding my right stick towards the opponent to wall up
1. Track player holding LT while flicking left stick and RT at exactly 1:1 ratio 2. STOP BLOW BY by rapidly tapping LT+RT one after one 3. Wall up by holding down both LT+RT while holding right stick up and left stick at the player

I notice when I guard players in park an orange stick appears below their player and sometimes it’s not there. Do you know what that orange stick is for? Is it like the dotted lines in mycareer signal a dribble move is about to happen?
Great vid Sam ! Been waiting for the on-ball defense video for 2k20. Was hoping you shed some light on the read/react defensive cues - the flash of yellow on the offensive player's feet? are you reading these as cues for the direction they're going so you can anticipate where/when to put up the wall?
The yellow cues are too slow feels after the fact than a preview. What I do look for is those dribble move dotted lines. Those are always before the fact so it gives me a competitive advantage

I didn't play 2k for years because at some point the controls just felt really odd to me, especially compared to fifa. Then Corona happened and I am giving it another go. While I feel a general uplift of understanding the physics and timing of the game, movement still feels really laggy and just not consistent. This video is a great insight and will definitely help a lot, but I am still amazed that this is the way movement was intended to function in the number one basketball simulation, a game that is so smooth in reality and where dribbling and movement just flow naturally.
Great video, I used your system in 18 and 19 and was a beast (2way play pg) now I am a slashing playmaker and so far it helped but when I step up to close out on three point shooters they are blowing by. You are right about over running the play by holding turbo. Is intimate useful with clamp badge on gold? Or only 1 player need intimidator on hof to help everyone outside of the personal close out? I have pickpocket on gold so the dotted circle I tend to do a steal animation right there if I am 80 percent ball side as you taught.
Im a new player to nba, and hearing and watching your tutorials has really helped me a lot from being mediocre to at least less mediocre. Still, what a god watching out for all those small cues.
Atenza bro I played against this dude who spammed a hop step with him EVERY single time down no lie. He had at least 40 on 75% shooting, luckily I won lol
Instead of doing walled up when you see the circle I tend to use the steal animation if I see a lot of dotted lines in the circle. In park or rec if they have been dribbling awhile then I do it during there cross or if they chain other moves together. I dont tend to contest as well, but this video is putting me in the right direction so I can go for steals in high leveraged moments and save on fouls and free throws. Great videos.

Not reflex clamps yes. The reflex signal happens to slow is like after the fact doesn’t help. The dotted lines tho that helps that’s before the dribble move
Sam Pham I am having trouble stopping any offensive PG that can shoot off the dribble. My buddy goes nuts with Damien Lillard averaging 7-8 three's a game. Do you have any advice on stopping threes' off the dribble and pick and roll. Lastly, since he takes so many threes he gets ever offensive rebound giving open threes from that as well. I am playing with the 76ers and Ben has good Perimeter D. Do you have any advice??? Do anyone have any suggestions I am tired of losing??

@@chulow9024 That's just like real basketball though. With some players you just gotta pick you're poison, decide what you'll give up and try your best to defend. For example, with a good shooter like Curry, I usually don't wanna let him pull up. So i'll press him a bit and if he tries to drive and blowby, i'll try my best to guide him into my help defenders. That way if he does blowby me, he'll still be bothered by my other help defender/defenders.

The shuffle step is cool but u don’t have to do that to stop the blow by. If u just hold the turbo button and run next to him with context it would clamp him up
What about steal animation during layups and dunks. When the offense pick up the ball during a layup and the steal animation the cpu doesn’t constantly.
Yes gear shifting doesn’t work this year becaUse of turbo mechanics change. Let me know if this new trigger tap technique is better for you on triple threat now. I would love to hear feedback on this Since is a major change
@@SamPhamNBA2KTipsandTutorial I've noticed a massive improvement to my on-ball defense. Can't thank you enough. Just one thing I wasn't totally clear on, when doing the "shuffle" to cancel the blowbys, do I alternate L2 and R2, or hit them simultaneously? I've been alternating, with good results, but just want to be certain I'm optimizig your technique.
I just came to ask why do my team cpu players double or help every single time the other has the ball I've checked the everything under the defensive gameplan its not just when theres pick and roll or screen or doubling the Pg with the ball right from the start of the play but pretty much every play a 3pt shooter is wide open I'll go on the replay and he's open all my himself during the whole possesion from start until they find him and give him the ball I thought ok maybe its me maybe I'm controlling the a play to pressure the PG on the start of the play with someone who is supposed to play someone else so I went in replay and that was true but I stopped doing that and it's still happening I'm playing NBA 2k20 it happens when the offense isnt even running a play! I cant find any videos about this not even when I go on google!
So just to be clear you are pressing both triggers at the exact same time as 1/1 (1 being 1 second on a timer so exact same timing) Not L then R and repeat correct?

Been waiti on this, thank you so much, but one thing. When I'm tracking a guard what button do I press when the person I'm guarding does a stop and go( what button do I hold while he is in the stop animation so I can keep up with him and not catch me off balance)
You can hold it yes but you will end up lunging a lot that way Since is not flicks. You can Make it work tho. I suggest practice that style in black top to get your reps in so you can time the slippery lunges
has anyone noticed the opponent circle under him is no longer there im not sure if i removed it by accident or everyone cant see it anymore..because i cant see my opponents circle..was it a patch update? or a setting?
When u “shuffle” RT and lt. Are you hitting both triggers at once each time or one right after the other? And make a video in park play. Everybody can defend in my career NBA games. The park is totally different. Completely
Antonino Ruggeri 6’9 sf with play making pie chart. Minimum wing span for better shooting. Max for better defense. U may can get away with it at of but u won’t be able to speed boost. U may get 70 ball control though
I hope you make video on how to stop the OP moves in 2k20 like eurostep dunk, spin move drive to the basket, hop step dunk and a very easy score below the basket. Most of my opponents are taking advantage inside the paint especially if theyre using Lakers whic has 4 solid big mans.
Can we get a tutorial for paint defense? I’m a glass lock and hands up defense doesn’t work when my teammates man gets past him. I’m always forced to try and time a jump when I really should never need to jump to contest guards when they come in the paint. Any tips?

Can anyone tell me how to stop cheese passes. The Bucks literally can't ever turn the ball over if you're anyone but the Lakers. I played with Portland and the guy can pass across court with no penalty. Dribble into the paint and all his drop off passes go through defenders. Doesn't matter if I have him well covered in the paint.
