I actually like that blowbys are back this year. If you watch the real NBA, people blow by their defenders all the time. The key really is team defense.

I don't know if this tactic works online because of the slight lag. Ball handler will have upper hand once they figure out the one step at a time method. Especially in a simple pick and roll

Building up your progress isn’t no joke... I’m getting a lot better at defending and my 3 points/shooting is becoming more accurate the more I play... I’ll just sit their in practice mode shooting 3 points trying to find my players sweet point.👌🏼

To beat the blow bys and drives, I always pick teams with a shot blocking center that has at least a gold intimidation badge. That is why I my main is Portland, its damn near impossible to score over Whiteside and Nurkic.

I do this all the time online but my center has 54 speed so I guess I just can’t keep up with the person with the ball and when I try to wait for them in the paint they know most know how to shoot so if someone could help me please help

tip: always pull up if they are 2 arms length spaces away and have their back turned to you.

So how do I stop the extra step on defense like I’ll have somebody boxed then they’ll speed boost and he’ll jab to the wrong side and now I’m cooked

I'd like to know what happens if you dont use L2 to defend the blow by moves. I know someone who is good in on ball defense without using the L2. I've been having problem with L2 if the opponent is very good with changing his dribble pace and switch to other direction.

My defence arrow isn't working in MyCareer even though it says that the arrow is on. Any solutions to this problem?

I think the defense is an improvement, but it's still kinda buggy and doesn't make sense sometimes. While I like how you need to think about the decisions you make when you slide, it's not always clear what the defensive player will do in every situation. The stealing system still doesn't make sense to me. I press the steal button when the dotted lines happen and it only gives me the steal sometimes. Sometimes there's no dotted lines but I'm in a great position to take the ball and the character just aggressively slaps them. The game makes it so difficult to play scrappy defense unless I'm playing with the All-Star teams or something, and I hate the bump-and move-by animations. Also, sometimes I'm recovering and can slap the ball from behind or I'm COMPLETELY adjacent to the ball-handler and my player just swipes at nothing. That REALLY pisses me off. Like I know what I want to do and the system doesn't let me. The coverage system is also a little buggy. Sometimes I'm nowhere near anyone and the computer will attempt a box out from like 10 feet away and suddenly It says 45% covered, but I get moved to the side and go for the block with my hand almost touching the ball and it says like 5%??? Like, tf?

I'm tearing my hair out at the moment, just picked up 2k yesterday and suddenly can't stay in front of anyone, keep getting lost in transition and CPU buries 3s EVERY TIME... Almost rage quit just now... And this is only exhibition games not my player.

I played a game for money last night i used dallas nex guy used portland and i lost cause of the defense in this game guys shufflin and sliding off the opposing offense or pausing up as they(offense) sharp turn around me never in my 20yrs of 2k hav i had this issue more then this year usually my def is as efficient as my 🔫 and 🚗 on offense grinds my gears cause last yearr def was more effective in game if you ask me

Oh yeah and my CPU teammates have a habit of just waking away, slacking off etc from players result another 3 buried..or a blowby before I can switch...

Clamps on Gold and you can give a Hard time to higher rated Players with that. But im barely See someone in rec Center. And When i Do they Start to try It too lol. You can wear down your your matchup combine with rentless defender. I recomment Using clamps and this method on All builds. Even a paint beast can play good help defence with It or switch D alot besser on guards

My problem is whenever I pass the ball, opposing AI can still steal the ball even when they are not looking, its like the ball is being vacuumed right to their hands, even the rebound, I kept my Boxout assist to 95 and stills ends the game with the other team with 70% more offensive rebounds..which is very annoying..

There used to be a shortcut to take control of the player closest to the basket on defense.... Is it not possible anymore? Apart from icon switching...

Handy. 2k20 is my first 2k basketball game I've owned and suck on defense, tbf I do play as the Knicks 😂

..the defensive stance is not the same as 2k19..opposing players can easily score if you lost your timing..that's why 2k20 is a READ and REACT game..but i agree most of the comments in here..

Im new to 2K and one of my biggest problems is the transition. Too many times a highlighted player stays all the way back or a group of players stays back leaving the backcourt completely empty and leading to some nasty dunks or easy 3 point shots. How can I transition better so all players head back to defend the court? Playing on PS4

2k is a broken damn game I don't know what the hell you talking about. Cpu in my league makes every important shoot gets every important steal or if you get slick on cpu 2k will make you throw the ball. away. Around 4th quarter cpu hits highly contested shots, cpu makes to many clutch 3 in the 4th. Sometime I play my league and it seems like the games are fixed for cpu to win no matter what you do. So quit defending this B's ass game

Why they even made this shitty game... One of the worst games I have ever played in my life. They are trying to be realistic but everything is just so unreal. 3pts are Sci-Fi. You wanna play it online? Don't even try. Lag will hit you like a massive ball.
