The biggest difference between the two teams is the neck up issues - specifically, fear and intensity. Steph is an unconscious shooter, Draymond Green is one of the smartest players I have ever watched (love that guy!!), Klay is a great option 3, and KD is a match up nightmare for anyone. On the other side of the ball, you had a player whose talent, skill, and presence unnerved opponents: people feared Michael Jordan. You had the best rebounder and defender of the 90's in Rodman, the point forward in Scottie Pippen who revolutionized the position before Lebron, and was a lock down defender, and 2 other "scrubs" (that's a joke) in Ron Harper and Luc Longley. Off the bench, the first 2 were absolute murder in Kerr and Kukoc. Talent wise, they were stacked, but beyond the talent, they were just more intense, more locked in, and basketball smarter than their opponents. They actually adapted their offense and defense suuuper fast to changing situations. Having watched both teams play, Golden State would get on hot streaks and ride it, while the Bulls thrived on crushing an opponents hot streak while reinforcing you couldn't stop them. I honestly believe the bulls would win a series, probably in 6, had the two played each other, regardless of the rules/era.
@cyber6sapien
@cyber6sapien 2 года назад
I agree. I'd take the Bulls in 6 as well. What people forget is that the 96's Bulls had a number of "all timers" on one team. Michael Jordan, the greatest player of all time. Scottie Pippen, arguably the greatest perimeter defender of all time, Dennis Rodman, arguably the greatest all around defender and rebounder of all time, and Toni Kukoc, arguably the greatest European player of all time. I believe Steve Kerr still holds the record as the most accurate three point shooter of all time as well.

Here's a Bulls record that I don't think is talked about much: Not only did the Bulls tied the 1972 Laker's record of 69-13. What people dont realize, aside from 96 bulls being talented, they are really fun to watch. When Jordan holds the ball, every person on the arena is being sucked in by his aura. To be honest in today's league Toni should be starter for sure. Imagine him today, that size with such movement ball handling and high IQ, fantastic shooter, passer, had outside and inside game, his offensive arsenal was better than what Pippen had. Toni had ice in veins. So if Bulls comes out with Harper, Jordan, Pippen, Toni and Rodman how can warriors stop them? My honest opinion is that Draymond would melt around Rodman, and that well oiled machine wouldn't really tick so precise and harmonious. Chicago literally had 5 players that could score a lot in modern nba. Ron harper took the role in Bulls but he was 20pt player. Toni would be unstoppable today and could go for 30 easy, Dennis could always surprise on offense, specially when there were no big men that can stop him. Pippen could dominate on athleticism alone and nobody could touch him and Jordan, well its only speculation of where his limits would be in today's game. Bulls win either with sweep or warriors get 1 win. If you add KD to the story, I think he had quality to force win or two and it would probably end 4:2 for Bulls. Could they take them to 7 game with KD? Possibly but not likely. It would still end in 5 or 6.

I believe the 91-93 teams were slightly better. Younger Jordan and Pippen and young Horace Grant, who was a great defensive player and rebounder and a better offensive player than Rodman. The 96-98 teams were great no doubt but you could tell Jordan wasn’t quite as explosive and quick, a more cerebral approach to beating a defender then. Tony Kukoc was a great addition to those teams though, very skilled player. I think a theoretical matchup between the 92 team and the 96 team would be epic.

Kukoc would've KILLED in today's game, where you have to TEACH big men to handle the ball/shoot 3's ... Kukoc came over from Croatia, as the #1 player in all of Europe, and could take you off the dribble, finish at the rim, & shoot the 3, & he was left-handed @ 6'11. His play time was diminished back then because he was having difficulty adapting to the physical play of the East. Conf., you remove the Pistons/NYK's football style of ball, & Kukoc would play more & score WAY more ...

I absolutely love Steph Curry and the Warriors, and Loved the Bulls all of them! However, when it came down to it defense would be the difference. The Bulls go four guys deep defensively on any team, and could lock you down. What I mean by is that four of the Bulls players on pretty much any stretch could make life difficult for any of the five guys on the floor at the time for Golden State. The styles are completely different, but that’s just because of how ball is played now, and the rules. Steph, KD (especially KD), and Klay are still going to score, but it would be a long night because of Scottie, MJ, Harper, Rodman, Kukoc, and Pippen defending them. Then the liability would be Steph on defense. Even tough Klay is a decent defender, he’s not stopping Pippen, or MJ when it comes to having to do it! Harper would have a field day with Steph guarding him too. Let’s not sleep on Ron Harper. Andre is the best defender on the team followed up by KD, then Draymond, but even Harper, Kukoc, Longley, and Kerr could put up buckets when called upon. Then you have MJ, who you’re only if at all, just slowing down. He is still getting his! The three ball would have to flow for the Warriors, and if there’s hand checking forget it, because the physical play of the Bulls would prevail. If there’s no hand checking MJ and Pippen will absolutely dominate. I give the Warriors one game for sure, with the possibility of a second game, but they are not winning the series, because they just can’t match the defense intensity of the Bulls.

Great point but think about it, 90’s ball was guard the paint, no team had a spread motion offense and we seen Jordan couldn’t guard pgs with handle curry has arguably top 5-10 best handle of all time. He is great off ball and they bulls offense would play into warriors style more honestly. Warriors could literally stack the paint and get stops against the bulls. It’s a great debate both ways honestly. Warriors with iggy are dangerous to bulls. Warriors bench is still better and has tough defense as well.

IMO - you can't really compare the 72-10 Bulls to the 73-9 Warriors because The Bulls not only dominated the regular season, but they carried that dominance into the playoffs as well and finished with a record of 87-13, the best ever. The '96 Bulls are more comparable to the '17 Warriors with KD, and IMO - the Warriors would lose to the Bulls because of defense and rebounding.
