Thats exactly it. Very few, I mean very few people that have elite talent have Jordan's drive. When you see elite talent combined with elite drive you get Jordan, Mike trout, kobe and maybe Brady. How many extremely talented people make it to the pros and fade away, no drive
Bo Jackson, Dave Winfield, Deion Sanders ... better athletes than Michael. MJ was a great basketball player for sure. great athlete no doubt. He wasn't at Bo's level tho
MJ would average 50 a game in todays game. Theres so much space in the paint. He can drive all day, shoot mid all day. His form was so good, his 3s wouldve been higher percentage too. Crazy skills in every aspect of the game plus a super athlete. He was just perfect for this game.
Then add the fact that he'll get access to modern training, equipments, medicine, supplements and basketball knowledge. He might even be more athletic and explosive.
This unproven myth is still going around? So why aren't players like Durant, curry, harden, Westbrook, kyrie, lebron etc averaging close to 50 if it's so easy?
Mike the GOAT, but he not putting up 50 a game dude that's ridiculous. One thing NBA players past and present have agreed upon is this: MJ putting up 40 ppg, but not 50 dude.
@@imsljr420 LOL, his career high average in a much more physical era is 37.1 ppg. that is with clogged lanes, etc. this era, with the bullshit spacing on the floor, lack of physicality of the game, his IQ, his skillset, quickness, his aerial assault. dude please. you heard what Isiah Thomas said. "the TEAM guarded him and he still averaged 37 ppg". you need to check out those detroit bad boy piston JORDAN RULES documentaries about them guarding dude. he not putting up 50, but 40 easy. he'd live at the FT line.
@@larryburks6668 there's no way to prove that. He might have months where he averages 40+ and MAYBE MAYBE 1 season but he's not going to average 40 for his career. Like I said many great scorers in this era can't do it so Jordan wouldn't either. And also players were shooting more free throws in the 80s than today.
Wilt Chamberlain even said that EVERY PLAYER should give 10% of their salary to Jordan because of what he did to the game and for the players in a financial and business standpoint
Shouldn't that better apply to Bird and Johnson? Their rivalry saved the league, especially when drug usage was rampant in the league then. Although Jordan did elevate the NBA from there... Tough call 😅
@@A.CMc1997 what the dude said above my comment is facts. Jordan is the one who started the big bucks rolling. The Magic and Bird rivalry saved the league from going out of business Air Jordan sent it to moneyville 🤑.
Bullshit , Larry and magic saved the NBA that was loosing tons of money . There wouldn’t even be a Jordan if it weren’t for Larry and magic . Period ….
@@fizzle2323 The crazy thing is, Isaiah doesn't even really like MJ that much, but he still says what he does. Just goes to show how nasty MJ really was.
@@dwightlove3704 Definitely Joe D I'm a life long Knicks Fan, Starks had the attitude and competitive drive But I watched all of those series Starks went Hard but it cost him on the offense end. I remember Stark Jacking up those air balls because his legs were gone straight noodles.
Starks, miller, dumars all Them boys played their hearts out and still couldn't stop mj smh, it was a battle, these new guys have to watch the whole game to fully understand the magnitude of what was happening before they say those guys were slow and less talented, mj was just on a whole other level, he mastered every facet of the game or damn near
@@dynamic6645 lol man stop. He's not moving. He's not rotating or helping. He's been clocked as the 2nd slowest defender in the league. Just like a bronsexual to point out one play. Lame
@@dynamic6645 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-BqtDdQWDMzY.html defense is played with effort fundamentals and commitment. Not just a single play here and there. Peep this video out and see the lack of effort and commitment it takes to play solid D. Can't have it both ways and big him up when he's scoring alot but then say well he's in year 19 when he's not playing D.
As a shooter his fade over his left shoulder impressed me the most. For a righty the post fade over the right shoulder is natural and easy for a skilled offensive player. But over the left is awkward. He was equally fluid over either. No weaknesses.
I hated him growing up in the 90's as a Knicks loyal, but now as a new generation of ballers come into their own to create their own legacies I can finally admit with all truth that he is the best player I've had the pleasure of watching in my lifetime. Props when they're due💯 "I got to see Micheal play!" Crazy battle with the Detroit Pistons Badboys! I lived in Detroit during their 2 🏆.
To me as MJ fan, it's who he battled..he he over came time and time again that makes him the goat..it's not just the stats or the highlights. He earned those rings..there were no free passes given back then..as great as MJ was teams just didn't roll over for him or the Bulls. Teams ◀️ Jr the Knicks created severe match up problems nfor the Bulls. Even w Rodman, great defender, great rebounder..yet still may get 4 points..what was the centers gonna score against Ewing in those games? All 3 might combine for 10 to 15 points. Lots of great before and after MJ, but I doubt personally believe that the Knicks Orlando, Pacers..or any of those teams from the west Suns, Sonics, Jazz..have 0 rings if you flip in a different superstar. Maybe Kobe still has two or goes back to back..but not two three peats..not against them.
I was a Knicks fan in the 90s as well, but Jordan made me switch teams become a Bulls fan lol. I got tired of him seeing him embarrass us in the playoffs 😂
Michael Jordan was a true artist on the court with superior skill sets.. One of the greatest entertainers in all of sports, he had that balance of power and finest with style & his moves are so majestic in slow'mo, no one could put on a show quite like MJ...!
"he had that balance of power and finest with style & his moves are so majestic in slow'mo, no one could put on a show quite like ....!"---This describe Julius Erving too.
Wanna blow your mind? His Wizard campaign after being out for 3 years, which is crazy, and then play again at 38 to 40 years old with little jumping ability left, look at his stats for those 2 years, when he was actually hurt most of the time. He was almost comparable in those 2 years, old, rusty, and hurting, to Kobe career stats. Before he got hurt when he was playing for the Wizards, he was incredible!
@@pickzkickz dude its a team sport at all , but as a player he was clearly the best that played ball till today ... just listen to jerry he defenetly knows what he is talking about !
That's what separates Mike from basically any other player in NBA history. His combination of skill and athleticism and basketball IQ, plus he was a terror defensively. Unreal
He was blessed ,gifted ,talented, beyond the other player's human ability to play the game of basketball on such a high level and his basket IQ,made him a teacher,a coach and player on the hardwood floors Everytime his feet touched it,he was a unstoppable force who played offense and defense,he played both ends of the basketball court on a untouchable level.
4:55, this is one of the reason I think MJ will utilize the 3 in this era. He ain't going to force shit if he can use a more effective weapon to beat his opponent.
Michael Jordan is probably one of the most known person in the world even by people not basketball fans .. his Sneakers are most marketed every day shoes
100% true ! I'm from germany and know him since '84... my first trainer put us after training session in front of a tv puts a vhs on the recorder and showed us who arrived at nba ... late 80s to early 90 half of jersys at free courts were jordans and a 100% wear his sneakers :D
People underestimate how important Jordan's extra large hand size and grip were. His large hands allowed him to do things with the basketball with either hand that most offensive players could only dream of.
He had 3 point shooting. In his era, 90s below are the years were an outside shot is not the number one option in scoring. A lot of them are great outside shooters they're just not authorized to take that many outside shots. You know what's more insane? His scoring record while shooting mostly 2 points. Its easier for a pro to inflate his scoring record if he shoots mostly threes but this dude? Man...
He chose not to. After proving a point in the 91 finals game 1 he said he didn't like it. He just did it to prove his statement re he let Drexler be the better 3 pt shooter because MJ didn't want to do it and make a finals record then go back to perimeter shooting and slashing.
The skills in the game are amazing and few other players have. But the different is that there are no other players, never (not Kobe, not James, not nobody) who had the same mindset. Jordan was more than a killer. He was Mike Tyson and Mohammed Ali in 1. Unbeatable. No question about is, MJ is the GOAT.
Jordan would have averaged 25 free throws (and maybe 50 points) a game during the james harden high scoring period. If you never watched the man play live you will never get it.
Jordan is the Goat just for the fact that most people playing basketball today is because of him. He literally made basketball an international sport. And everyone wanted to be like Mike. Kobe is who he is because of Jordan. Lebron is who he is because of Jordan.
The secret to Michael Jordan's success is that there was no secret. He was an ideal height, supremely athletic, highly intelligent, very perceptive, focused, determined, incredible work ethic, giant hands, 48" vertical; if you remove even one of those attributes it is possible he is not the GOAT. Everything came together just right for Michael Jordan to be the best player in the world.
add him using steroids, outer worldly assistance, and the league being on his side pretty much thru out his career w/him always getting the calls, and in defensive cases NOT getting calls on him... yeah he had EVERYTHING going for him
@@pickzkickz Jordan blocks Hakeem from behind. The ball bounces around, Hakeem picks it back up and attempts another shot then Jordan strips him lol. Hakeem pumps his fist at the ref looking for some contact but it was none.
God designed Michael Air Jordan physically to be the most dominant basketball player to ever played in NBA his upcoming and failures made his WIL to win nearly impossible to match
The thing that really made Mike the greatest is the teams he played. A lot of those 3,4,5 seems maybe even some 6th seeds would've been 1 and twos in today's nba. The team's were pretty deep and a lot of those team's were above average defenses with Good offenses as well. The team's deserve more credit than they get. Can't be the best without beating the best and the years he played covers a majority of the 75 best players recently named. He played the hardest team's and defense was like football at times back then lol. He's the best because overall he beat a league of some of the best all time
MJ was a monster. Incredible skills and fundamentals, high bball IQ, and tough as fk. One of his most underrated abilities was how he could dismiss the defense in a variety of ways. This helped him get good uncontested shots whether you were near or far from him.
I grew up watching MJ playing ... I noticed that every game is like a war for him it's not just a battle .. it's like a war, he always tries his best .. and that's all combined with his phenomenal skills and athletic abilities ... So fun to watch him
I was able to watch Michael Jordan on TV for his career. Jordan had the hunger to win and he make himself greatest player ever. Jordan could score in so many different ways and he was a great defender also. I watch him drop 63 points on Boston. He was unstoppable and had that unstoppable turnaround jump shot. He had all the skills and natural athletic abilities and he had the burning fire to win. JORDAN IS GOAT. Kobe, LeBron; Curry, magic, bird, etc...
Great job including Reggie, Gary, and John giving their testimony, as these 3 gave MJ headaches and were as good as defenders against Michael as there were. The Pacers and the Knicks were the closest a team ever got to dethroning the Bulls, that's saying a lot when they give MJ his due respect.
No hand checking, softer foul calls and way less physical defense? 40-45 easy. MJ did average over 37 one year when he was getting hand checked and hit at the rim all the time. If you are old enough and witnessed it you just know. This generation thinking MJ wouldnt destroy the league now cant be faulted. They were just not lucky enough to see what we saw every time MJ played.
There isn't a GOAT conversation in basketball.....there is a GOATR Conversation..... Greatest of all the rest..... Its Michael Jeffrey Jordan..... Way up on his own..... Then the conversation can start.
Very considerate of IT to compliment MJ like that knowing their checkered past. Physically speaking, I think MJ’s giant hands let him do things that others couldn’t.
Giant hands ! Huh ! You SERIOUSLY think this is the reason MJ is the GOAT ! If all beards meant wisdom then all goats would be prophets.Hands are just one part of the G.O.A.T.
@@petermapp5988 It’s one of his physical abilities that separates him from the rest. Did you even watch the video before criticizing me, or do you get off on just trolling peoples’ comments? I Isiah Thomas and here the other athletes giving MJ respect and credit their honesty WOW their humbleness in truth is very inspiring much respect to all the athletes and people in this video especially.
You know what so special about Kobe and MJ🐐🐐 is that all their championships went through one coach Phil Jackson what's even more remarkable is that it =Bill Russell🐐 💯
Why is it no other player today can do flashy dunks like Jordan did?? Its like Jordan did it to impress and give the fans a show! Something either players cant do today or are afraid of injury smh
The drive that MJ had on both ends of the court disproves the narrative of today's NBA that you can't expect the superstars to play great defense because they put out so much effort on offense. Just one more reason to call MJ the GOAT!
The difference in today's era is its really hard to double team allstar players because everyone can score and engine is standing at the 3 pt line spreading the floor out. Jordan and Kobe constantly were double teamed and still scored that is difficult to do. What's different about Jordan was he was the best scorer in the league but also the best defender.
@@dynamic6645 1988 he was the best defensive player with 259 steals and 131 blocks and also avg 35 ppg that year. He switched up real quick once that “dream team” doc came out in 2012 I believe, always had MJ as the goat but since then he’s flipped flopped from Kareem to LBJ, back to Kareem to LBJ again. He’ll pick anyone who’s not MJ basically. Dude even tweets subtle shots at him.
Zeke was a mad good player back in the day, did a lot to develop the game. He was one of the first point guards who actually could dribble the ball on a high level. Brought in dribble moves and all that. All time great. Although his behaviour on the court, how he orchestrated the walk off the court back in '91 when Bulls swept them, and how he has been behaving in the media and turning his coat around with his opinions about GOAT conversations and all that, I just can't have him in my all time top 20.
