The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the major men's professional basketball league in North America, and is widely considered to be the premier men's professional basketball league in the world. It has 30 teams (29 in the United States and 1 in Canada), and is an active member of USA Basketball (USAB),[2] which is recognized by FIBA (also known as the International Basketball Federation) as the national governing body for basketball in the United States. The NBA is one of the four major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada. NBA players are the world's best paid athletes by average annual salary per player.[3][4]
The league was founded in New York City on June 6, 1946, as the Basketball Association of America (BAA).[1][5] The league adopted the name National Basketball Association on August 3, 1949, after merging with its rival National Basketball League (NBL). The league's several international as well as individual team offices are directed out of its head offices located in the Olympic Tower at 645 Fifth Avenue in New York City. NBA Entertainment and NBA TV studios are directed out of offices located in Secaucus, New Jersey.
The NBA originated in 1946 with 11 teams, and through a sequence of team expansions, reductions, and relocations currently consists of 30 teams. The United States is home to 29 teams and one is located in Canada.
The current league organization divides thirty teams into two conferences of three divisions with five teams each. The current divisional alignment was introduced in the 2004-05 season. Reflecting the population distribution of the United States and Canada as a whole, most teams are in the eastern half of the country: thirteen teams are in the Eastern Time Zone, nine in the Central, three in the Mountain, and five in the Pacific.
The Boston Celtics have won the most championships with 17 NBA Finals wins. The second most successful franchise is the Los Angeles Lakers, who have 16 overall championships (11 in Los Angeles, 5 in Minneapolis). Following the Lakers, are the Chicago Bulls with six championships, all won over an 8-year span during the 1990s. The San Antonio Spurs have five championships, all since 1999, and the Golden State Warriors also have five championships overall (2 in Philadelphia, 3 in Oakland).

The NBA consists of the following teams: Atlanta Hawks; Boston Celtics; Brooklyn Nets; Charlotte Hornets; Chicago Bulls; Cleveland Cavaliers; Dallas Mavericks; Denver Nuggets; Detroit Pistons; Golden State Warriors; Houston Rockets; Indiana Pacers; Los Angeles Clippers; Los Angeles Lakers; Memphis Grizzlies; Miami Heat; Milwaukee Bucks; Minnesota Timberwolves; New Orleans Pelicans; New York Knicks; Oklahoma City Thunder; Orlando Magic; Philadelphia 76ers; Phoenix Suns; Portland Trail Blazers; Sacramento Kings; San Antonio Spurs; Toronto Raptors; Utah Jazz; Washington Wizards.

It's a shame Clyde Drexler was mostly lost in Jordan's shadow. He was special.

Giannis dunk against my Knicks was probably the furthest ever, considering the corner of the free throw line is probably a foot further from the goal than the middle of the free throw line. Giannis is a scary athlete

It may not have been the LONGEST dunk ....but Clyde the Glide WINS with style and grace. Never seen another dunk by anyone that looked like how Drexler does it. A physical feat of beauty and perfection. Both legs tucked under just-a-glide'in ...all casual and shit. Like a kid kneeling on the floor... butt on his heels with his hand raised straight up in the air to answer a question from Teacher. So glad Clyde won a Championship....even if it was at the expense of knocking off Stockton & Malone along the way.

We still love Monta here in the bay. He kept the team somewhat watchable and competitive for so long even though they had 0 stars beside him. Used to score 30 + all the time and we'd still lose but he always played hard and shot a pretty high percentage for a guard.

Exactly what I was thinking. Dr J was definitely not a superb ball handler. He was kind of like Clyde Drexler in that respect. He almost looked a little awkward dribbling, and even looked at the ball a lot of the time. You rarely, rarely saw him even go between the legs or around the back. He was a great player. Don't get me wrong, but not known for his handles.

With LeBron and Carter...don't only pay attention to how far they took off, but make sure you look at body and ball position at the time of the dunk!! They are not stretching and reaching for the rim. They took off a foot or so inside the free throw line but dam near dunk the ball vertically. Which means they probably could have taken off a foot or so BEHIND the free throw line and stretched and still made the dunk! Holly cow.
@uncletony6210
@uncletony6210 6 лет назад
Carter was almost exclusively a dunker/jumper off TWO feet, which means he wasn't ever going to be able to glide as far as great one foot dunkers, e.g., LeBron, Jordan, James Worthy, etc. I'm kinda surprised he even made this highlight reel.
