FIBA, NBA, NCAA all have the same rule regarding ahooting motion: the player isin shooting motion until he/she returns to the floor. Releasing the ball doesn't end the shooting motion.

One of the few rules I never understood. Once the shot is released, who cares if the arm or elbow is slapped. Ball is gone, shot is unaffected. Javies spot on with that. EAD Fisher.

1:17 !!!! Being back that old rule . Once the ball is out of your hands stop calling those whack ass touch on the finger or hand after a player already released their shot because their shot was not interfered with, so it shouldn’t be a foul .

if you give them a high five after the shot, it's not a foul. if you're intentionally hitting their elbow so they can't follow through it's definitely a foul

Agree about the backboard slap. That's up there with having a penalty for 'dunking' the football over the crossbar - just a stupid rule that is trying to remove something from the game that makes absolutely NO difference.

Jarrod H as far as dunking the football i kinda agree with them about not allowing the players to do it anymore after one of the players almost brought the whole goal post down. as far as recieving a techical for slapping the backboard, now thats just bullshit

Saintmadman Can't do that and players know it, oh by the way Joey Crawford is actually the greatest to ever do it, us Officials strive to be even a tenth as good as him, the issue is ignorant fans think they know the rules when they don't so when we make an incredible call you all think they're awful cause you're uneducated, if you knew anything about basketball you'd know Joey Crawford is the greatest.
