Paid for without one cent of tax payer money he can do it so can the rest of these wealthy owners in all sports. If you own a sports team build your own house. Enough of coming to the tax payers for free money just to enrich owners. Cities always get the raw end of the deal and the taxpayers.
@@bobbowie9350 it’s kind of depending on how you define his Money…. I think he got loans out to pay for the stadium which realistically he’ll never have to pay back with other investors, some from Microsoft helping him but the main thing is none of it came from taxes, which fans should be relieved over, And apparently he at least does own the land, implying he does have a lot of money put in this
@@nathansteele4358I don’t know if Steve Ballmer is using his cash to fund the stadium or if he is privately financing it, but either way he is paying for the stadium, as he is personally on the hook for any loan (if there is one) and repayment will come from him. The idea that he will never have to pay a loan off (if there is one) is totally incorrect. There are no investors in the Clippers, as Ballmer owns 109% of the team. But if he sells a piece of the team to investors to pay off a loan, he is paying that loan because he would be using something he owns to generate cash to pay the loan. Also, he would be making payments on a loan while it exists. In any case, using a loan (if thre is one) to fund the stadium is, in fact, Ballmer using his own funds because he is on the hook to repay the loan whether he repays it with cash he has or he sells an asset to repay the loan. Also, Microsoft wouldn’t help him pay the loan, as he is now just an owner of stock in Microsoft (the biggest source of his $100B+ net worth). He could sell some of his Microsoft stock to pay off a loan, but that is not Microsoft helping him, but that is him selling an asset he owns to generate cash.
Dude opened up the video saying how the Clippers is opening up the most expensive arena in the history of the world, and then a few minutes later he states Sofi is the most expensive arena in the history of the world.
@@Name-jw4sj SoFi is a Stadium not an arena, Clippers Dome is an arena! Intuit Dome = from $1 Billion went up to costing $2 Billion (same amount Ballmer bought the Clippers team for) SoFi Stadium = 5 Billion!
Both have an oculus type of board along their roofs. The oculus board means there will be no bad views in the arena, kinda like jerry's world/at&t stadium with their big board in arlington, tx & sofi stadium. If you can't see the court/field clear enough, just look up at the giant oculus type of board. Cool stuff!!
i dont understand the reasoning for natural light in nba arenas, most of their games are played at night. a window for the few holiday games during the day doest not make sense. nba is a evening game. nlf is played mostly during the day so natural light does makes sense. its honestly a non issue for nba games
Those events are typically at night as well. If someone desires natural light so strongly, skip the arena event and partake in your own outdoor activity @@Be_a_Pineapple
Easily the best arena in the NBA. The best part is Steve Balmer paid for it without using public money. Games and concerts here should be insane to be at.
Not a fan of the clippers but huge props to their organisation and all those who played a significant, minimal, and minor role in building this nba palace. The clips GOTTA christen their crib with an nba championship at some point. That’ll be like putting the cherry on top of the best damn ice cream sundae…
Haha nobody cares 😂. A washed up old “soccer” player moves to Miami and it becomes the fastest growing and popular thing in America. Also, at least soccer doesn’t need giant video screens and bar areas as the sport is actually entertaining.
@@rommag6251 Lol washed up and old? You mean a World Cup winner? And winner of every trophy in the sport? So washed up. Also MLS has been adding new teams every year before Messi’s arrival. There’s gonna be a San Diego team next year.
I despise the ring scoreboard. The lighting from it would absolutely blind you from seeing almost anything else. Like having a 20 inch touch screen inside a vehicle. So stupid!!!
Most beautiful and most newest never before seen technology used in any arena/stadium in the whole country! Other NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, etc. owners came to see the Clippers Dome Arena to get marvel of all the technology being used and being put for when it begins operations so they can get ideas for their next arenas and stadiums they will build in the future using European hi-tech!
LA has the biggest baseball stadium in the world with Dodger Stadium having a capacity of well over 50k. They are about to have the most expensive arena in the world as the first ever multi-billion dollar arena ever built. Of course they also have by far the most expensive stadium in So-Fi which is well over twice and almost 3 times as expensive as any stadium ever built at $5.4+ billion. LA definitely does it up when it comes to their sports teams. I did talk to a fan who went to So-Fi and was complaining about the cost though. I think the cheap seats are pretty close to $200 each and if you want to eat or drink there even some of the most basic food items are in the $50-$65 range. I guess they gotta pay for these venues somehow.
@@alexanderrangel7341 the Oakland Coliseum is big but it has a capacity below 50k. Dodgers Stadium is the only MLB stadium that currently has a capacity above 50k.
If you look at the Clippers full history from Buffalo, to San Diego, to the old LA Sports Arena, to second fiddle at Staples... this is really amazing new venue.
nba stadiums dont need natural light cuz what if its sunny out/the sun coming down ... itll angle too get in the stadium and might get in the players eyes
Steve Ballmer went through developers to buy the 22 acres Intuit Dome sits on for $66.2 million dollars. This was the cost of buying land in Inglewood. While the land may be more expensive than in other areas of the country, at a total cost of 2 billion dollars to build it is the cutting edge technology, fan amenities and environmental friendly materials like 100% low carbon concrete that make the stadium expensive. Amazon HQ2 in Virginia uses a lot of the same material and it costs $2.5 billion. The stadiums location likely has very little to do with the extravagant cost.
Am I the only one who thinks these new nfl/nba/mlb stadiums are getting a little out of hand? Especially when you include how they make all the tax payers pay for all of their extravagant ideas
That’s why teams are leaving California because nobody wants to fund stadiums that billionaires are too cheap to finance themselves. Gotta give credit to Steve Ballmer tho he privately funded this arena himself
I wonder too, as I think that maybe Gymnastics or some basketball games might move into there. It wasn't in the original plans originally because they sent in the LA bid way back in 2017 before Intuit Dome was planned.
It’s a reason he built in Inglewood. He used his own money. Sofi and intuit are getting major tax breaks for building in Inglewood. You see all of the big developers are trying to build in Inglewood and surrounding areas. Up zoning and tax breaks for building. They know what they are doing. They are not wealthy for a reason.
Mavs would actually be moving to the site of the old Texas Stadium in the nearby suburb of Irving. Miriam Adelson has already bought all the land there.
Sofi and the Clippers Arena are going to be like Entertainment Center/Complex like Staple Center and LA Live are, but bigger and better. (Yes I know those are the "old names".)...LA Live Theater has had several names since I been here in 20 years. Not trying to keep up with all that
It's all good, only the bandwagons don't know the original names for these places and you can spot them right away when they call them "Crypto" (Staples Center), "Kia" (instead of The Forum), "Intuit" (instead of The Clippers Dome Arena), "BMO/BoC LAFC Stadium" (instead of LA Sports Arena)
You're wrong, Bob. You sure hate these stadiums a lot. Very seat in the house will be able to see the whole floor. The East & West portions of the Halo raise up for concerts.
This stadium is $2b but the bridge they're building in Pennsylvania is $1.2b (I believe). How does that work? I feel like there's some kind of corruption going on about the bridge.
Even non basketball fans or non sports fans at all will just want to visit this amazing gorgeous DOME for its state of the art unique and amazing technologies! The experience will be wild...
Can not imagine what they are gonna charge for parking there. My friend won tickets to a Charger game at SoFi and immediately left when they told him parking was $200.
I work in Architecture in NYC and New York passed a similar law to California's a few years ago. All new construction, with a flat enough roof , are required to have roof solar panels or a green planted roof. It's not really about being "green" but rather for meeting the growing energy demands many cities in America will have in the near future. So might as well take electric loads off the grid starting now instead of waiting for when it's too late. " Green roofs help with the urban heat island effect so less a/c is needed
Who here thinks the NHL wants a piece of this actions? New NBA arena would attract interest from NHL teams and who's to say the Kings wouldn't want to move here or another California team. Good for the Clippers to move out of the Crypto arena and not play second fiddle to the Lakers.
Yeah, the Clippers been needed their own arena for a long-time now. I just hope the Jets get out of MetLife in the NFL on the East Coast now, and maybe the Chargers back into San Diego in the future as well. As for NHL, I think the Kings will stay in downtown LA with the Lakers, but maybe the Ducks will move into there since Honda Center in Anaheim is getting extremely old. They'll at least be able to attract an AHL team at the very least.
@@bobbowie9350 Yeah, I agree, they own the arena like you said. They don't have to move, they're in the perfect location too. It depends on the Ducks situation in Honda Center, but I think the Ducks will stay and Anaheim and figure out the Honda Center situation. Clippers likely gonna remain a basketball arena primarily, unless they partnered with some minor league franchise to move there.
I am a BBall fan but stopped watching these over paid players years ago. Stopped watching after MJ, Magic, and Larry legend went out of the game. It’s boring the crowd roars when a 6’8 or 7 footer dunks, big deal ! Raise the basket to 12’ get rid of the shot clock. I now go to high school games for great entertainment. Watch college ball some but it’s getting polluted with money and super conferences. As this goes on I’m afraid college ball will lose its luster too.
It’s gonna beyond momentous occasion for LA Clippers since they never had their very own home, Clippers owner Steve Balmer is very down to earth guy and wants Clippers fans their best options for their brand new home, I can’t wait till NBA2K25 comes out I want to see the new design of the Intuit Dome on the video game.
The casinos that can be opened in LA aren’t regular casinos. They can’t have blackjack. Also I don’t even think any kind of casino at all is legal in Dallas. People drive to Oklahoma’s Indian reservations to go to casinos there.
Can't compare cost per area to build without context. Yes, it's significantly more expensive to build a stadium or arena in Los Angeles than in Oklahoma. However, compare the franchise valuation and ROI. Lakers are 7.3 billion and Clippers, having never won a single title, and are a distant second fiddle in their own city with fans and following, are 4.5 billion. Thunder, the lone pro team in OKC, with massive fan support, are 3 billion. An extra billion of initial investment cost in a stadium is pennies when amortized over the years of usage and total investment return. And given how often arenas like Staples end up being used in a city like Los Angeles for much more than team events, it's actually far less expensive in comparison by revenue return over years.
Why is natural lighting necessary? The vast majority of games are played at night. Also, if one desires natural lighting, skip the game and partake in an outdoor activity. Problem solved.
That whole area is a nightmare for people that live nearby. They built all these new structures, but did not add any parking! I know a guy that lives down the street from there. On days when there are events, whether games or concerts, people trample his yard, they piss on his property, they throw their empty beer cans, etc. It's a nightmare. His street turns into a loud unruly thoroughfare. Many of the neighborhoods have lost market value on their homes because of the constant traffic and noise. Once this new dome opens up, I feel sorry for those people...
You are incorrect. I worked at both SoFi & Intuit Dome. SoFi has multiple parking lots and a parking structure. There are thousands of parking spots for SoFi. Intuit Dome has multiple parking structures with thousands of parking spots, as well.
They will open this massively expensive arena, but they will still be seventh team in LA popularity wise😂 behind the Dodgers, Lakers, Rams, Kings, Galaxy, Chargers…
@@BruddaOsasOfTheBoosh Yeah it was hard putting them on the list, they need to go back to San Diego or at least play in Orange County or the Inland Empire.
Let's be honest...Most of these new Stadiums in LA are for the Olympics in 2028 I attended/worked at meetings in 2018 where they talked and planned about these things. USC dorms and getting a major upgrade...that is where the Olympic Athletes will be staying
Do you know if gymnastics or basketball will move into Intuit Dome for those Olympics? Originally it was planned for gymnastics to be at KIA Forum way before this arena was planned in 2017.
Damn! The Intuit, Inc. Dome costs $2 billion dollars and SoFi Technologies, Inc. Stadium cost almost $5½ billion dollars. Doesn't California have a budget deficit of almost NEGATIVE -$80 billion dollars and a economy in the toilet???
There are zero suites, this is what makes it unique! All you do is talk with no research. Every NBA has suites, bro; this no has zero. I am unsubscribing
As far as traditional suites go, you're correct. However, they will offer a variety of VIP seating experiences, including a new idea called halo lofts - small blocks of plush seats for 4-12 people, each with private access to 1st class food and drinks...........and the food/drinks are all included in the ticket price AND without the need to commit to a expensive suite for a entire season. There will be Red club seating, Orange club seating, Green club seating (each with it's own club access for food/drinks) as well as VIP courtside seats in permanent plush seats (not folding chairs on the court). Actually, it's kind of refreshing to see Ballmer and the Clippers not relying on the usual expensive corporate suites as a revenue stream - they're definitely going for a more 'fan friendly' set of seating options. The fact is Ballmer is the richest team owner of any professional sports franchise in the USA, if anyone can afford to do things differently it's him!
