My brother was a Black Boater out of Fort Lauderdale, FL from 2009 until he died of cancer in 2013. Michael got into boating in the 1970’s in Long Beach, CA and was an avid fisherman who won many tournaments up and down the California coast for many years until he and his wife Pat relocated to FL. He transferred his 35 ft Grady ocean fishing boat to FL, but told me he traded it in for a larger boat as he was making runs furthernout into the Atlantic.

How do I get involved? I’ve educated myself, have master’s degrees, minor degrees and certificates, but can’t even seem to find a job in my field. I’ve even started my own business but it’s not going anywhere either. I’m not looking for handouts, but a simple blueprint on how to find this success we so heavily talk about. I’ve been trying but, seemingly to keep spinning my wheels. I’m in South Florida as well.
