Thanks for this really saved a lot of head scratching! Just did this myself after being estimated £350 for a 8000 mile service. Got to say I'm disappointed with Honda particularly with the little plastic clips, I can't seem them lasting more than a couple of rounds of this. Also on mine one of the captive nuts at 0:19 was free ( they used rubber grommets to hold them in place which had degraded or been chewed in assembly), I had to pry a screwdriver under the screw-head to pin it and unscrew.

Insane to spend 2 hours to change the air filter!

Was thinking I should check the filter on mine but I may put it off now. To access the filter on my '79 Honda CM400 you lift the seat and there it is.

If you think this is difficult, check out the Goldwing air filter. Surprisingly, the ST1300 filter is not bad.

Someone said 32000 miles to change the filter by schedule,I bought a shorty turn down exhaust simple job in the past when I've done exhaust and or filter I needed to re jet the carb on fi I assume it would be an injector adjustment but I'll take the K & N back the heck with all that 2015/CTX700N new today 1/21/17 got a real incentive to buy it "BUMMER" on the filter my hog takes 5 min. Ty g8 post.

Changing an air filter should not be that labor intensive. None of the bikes I own/have owned took more than a couple minutes to change the filter.

Can't seem to create an acc. on the Honda CTX700 forum but saw a lot I do my own work on everything my hog big foot ford 4x4 polaris 500 atv two a 87 & 88 toyota 2x4 & 4 X4 16 jeep Willy's Wrangler & let me tell Ya the shop will do the air filter & U provide it for $63.00 period set price,Screw it unless U luv scuffed knuckles have it done LOL
