I’m going to make an XXL NCW. I found your Part 1 (making templates) but I need to learn the step before that: how to enlarge the NCW pattern to the correct size to make it XXL? What % of increase? TIA
Thank you for these tutorials. Have you tried using your finished flap as a template for your Peltex? This is the method I use. When you do this the Peltex is shaped and sized exactly as you sewed the flap.
Hi Debby, I am loving your videos. You take such great care and you are very precise which I really appreciate because I try to do the same. I am thinking that if you were to use an exacto knife to cut out the openings for the hardware it might be a little easier. Just slice through the layers. It might work a bit better than the scissors. Edited to add a big thank you!
Thank you for your kind words Arlene! I appreciate you taking the time to comment! I actually took Lorna Morrison's advise and ordered a Lexpon punch set... There's lots of interesting shapes in there. I'm hoping they work, and I'll let everyone know!
I just had a peek at this tool set and I definitely think this is the easiest way to go. I look forward to hearing from you about using them. Thank you for the info.
Great tutorials Debbie, i haven't made a NCW yet, but am hoping to soon, and these tutorials will be a great help :D (i am a visual learner) what stitch length do you use when sewing seams and top stitching please ?
Hi Debby, love your tutorials. I have the NCW pattern but how did you get the xxl pattern. I am sorry if i missed something but i have looked or did you just print it out enlarged size. please let me know thankyou. 🐈🐈🐈
Hi Chris! I just enlarged the NCW to 150%. You are in my FB Group now (Welcome!) and if you go to the 'Files' section, there are the full instructions in there. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!
@@patriciarivera2271 The full instructions and the additional measurements needed are in the files section in my FB Group.,, facebook.com/groups/friendsofdebbyhunker/
Hi Deby... I was wondering on your domestic machine, what needle and thread weight are you using? I made my first NCW last week and used a universal 90/14 needle and 50 weight poly thread, and the thread kept breaking. So depressing. Thank you for your time and awesome tutorials. Best I've watched so far!! ;)
When I working on bags or wallets, I always use 100/16 topstitch needles. I’ve also moved over to Tex 30 boned nylon thread. I have no problems with breakage.
Yes, that’s right! The topstitch needle has a larger eye and allows the thread to move more freely, and the 100/16 size is a heavier needle and doesn’t allow as much needle flex.
Hi...enjoy your videos. I seem to have a problem...my flap only measure 8”. I have rechecked my pattern and it measure sto scale with the test piece. Can you help?
Thanks Debbie...as I continued to watch your videos, I finally figured out what XXL was🤪....so I am going to your Facebook page and hopefully get the pattern.....I have been using NCW for several years and learned a lot from your videos...thank you so much..Please continue! I look forward to looking at more!
Hello I'm from South Florida, it's a pleasure to see you teach 😊 I would love to get feed back on what machines to use for vinyl , and sewing machine as well ?
Hi Maite! I'm glad you enjoy my videos! My domestic machine is a Pfaff Creative 3.0 and my industrial machine is a Titan 650BL that my local dealer builds.
My little black ones are Kai. LOVE those scissors! If I remember correctly, the red ones would be my Fons and Porters... They are actually meant for making rag quilts. I rarely use those anymore because I like my Kai so much better.
