HI! I would like to know what kind of UTP cables are the best for NDI video tranmission. And also what type o swtches are the best, thank you so much fou the info.
I personally have gotten away with using cheap unmanaged switches in the past. First, I would recommend trying what you have on hand to see if it works. If you need to purchase equipment I would always go with Cat6 (since it future-proofs things). For switches just make sure that the switching capacity is sufficient for the number of streams you wish to run though it. Check out this page: www.newtek.com/ndi/applications/ scroll down and there will be a PDF called "Adding NDI to your Network " which covers the networking requirements.
ETHERNET! ETHERNET ports and cables! That's what "NDI" really is. A device that has an ETHERNET port (camera, switcher, etc.) can just be plugged directly into a network switch such as Cisco, Netgear, or TP-Link. Please show me how "NDI" works differently.
Uhhh, that's kinda like saying marinara is a type of pasta. Ethernet is one of several things you can use to transmit data (copper, fiber, wirelessly, etc) but NDI is the actual format with which the data is organized in order to be transmitted across the chosen medium.
