Long time late to leave a comment, but it always makes me feel good when I leave some spare cable tucked away for the next person, but I also think if I'm doing it right nobody will ever know.... Nice video, nice workmanship. 👍

As you have installed the trunking I would leave a loop of cable in trunking for some slack and cut cables short and neat in board.

My preferred method for the last 30 years, glad you’re on board

The extra length of conductors in the consumer unit is much appreciated when you come to do an EICR👍

Only thing I'd change is the band, you can get plastic coated band instead of sharpish metal edged stuff. Oh and I'd put ferrules on the fine wire multistrand rcbo neutral fly leads.

It's a sound installation of the consumer unit as long as you have allowed for holes in the back for your spare ways to be wired into

Great ideas on fitting a CU, just wondering if you took in account the grouping factor of having all your outgoing cables bound close together like that in trunking??🤔

@@GreenHawkConstructionltd I'm ever so sorry to be pain by bending your ear I’ve just started Level 2 Diploma installation hopefully I will get through 2 years then on eventually get my level 3 done. How much length on each neutral you've got coming through back into RCBO an how much have you stripped off 10/12mm feeding into the terminal on the rail? I only ask as I'm so nk only 3 weeks into my course an I eagerly want to be ahead of my game on-site when I get around to it 😂 Thank you 🙏

Like yourself love a fusebox. I use 75 mm trunking as it fits nicely on the top the full depth of the box. surface mount the cu and open up all the top 20mm knockouts to 25 mm then slot the trunking to fit so anybody following up has full access. Use the mini RCBO's as they give you a bit more room and loop the L and N's down up down into the RCBO so there is a bit of slack for the future. Also use the flat Wiska tails glands as less bulky than the 32/40mm stuffing glands.

Not a fan of bringing cables in from behind, it may look neat but most people shove excess length and the fly leads down the back which I think is a bit shit. Top entry and loom the cables round with sticky pads and small panel ties leaves length and looks neat

Thanks for the video. As a learner, what is your view on the grouping factor of all those cables in the trunking?

I don’t tuck any slack behind the breakers, just a little loop up and over, never straight in.

Great video. Have to say not sure if I was that taken with coming in that low with the holes. Think it will make it hard for the next phase and next person if /when you need to add anything to get the cables in to the board without removing the breakers.

Thanks for another great video. Nice to see a consumer unit in a practical location. Lol. How is off-peak switching done in UK? In Aus the energy supplier injects a tone to lines to switch off-peak (hot water supply) on and off and has a separate meter. The tones can play havoc with LED dimmers with harmonics / interaction with the 50Hz.

You cant use plastic clips for the fire rated fixings, it defeats the object.

Never understood why you guys pick the cheapest imported con unit you can get hands on. In a few years, when the agent stops importing Fusebox products and you need a replacement or additional device , you’re stumped. New con unit needed to adhere to the regs. For £50 more get a Hager or Crabtree unit from proper manufacturer’s, I’m sure the customer would pay the uplift if you explained the reason why.

Knockout the big knockouts every time with the large easy fit grommet strip fuesboards higher 1400 to the bottom always I don't agree with who can do the fuesboards the neatest or artisan this 5 star electricians crap as long as the inside of the boards neatish and screws checked and tightened properly there is a cover on fuesboards no one can see the inside of the fuseboards leave enough slack in your cables for the future moving all the boards up would be major also your off peak DP switches better if they are indicated I am not saying you shouldn't care about the work you do Cheers

You do talk to much mate just stick to the point also ‘neatest way to install’ but you didn’t show us getting the board on or putting away the earths and how you know which circuit is what with no labels.
