+4mped now your Nebraska needs to win all the rest of your games (as does BYU) so it doesn't taint our victory, And of coarse BYU winning out would help Nebraska out as well.
+4mped I have heard from many BYU fans at the game how classy the Nebraska fans were. I'm impressed with your program as well as the sportsmanship of your fans.
I want to re-affirm my respect for the Nebraska fans and coaching staff. From a BYU alum, we were impressed with your behavior and treatment of our team. Hopefully, we can play again.
+Swat Chief "Yes and no." BYU recruits both Mormon and non-Mormon players. The non-Mormons are typically 18 year olds out of high school or 20 year old junior college transfers. The Mormon players are generally 18 year old who are going on their mission for two years following their first season, or 21 year olds who have returned from their mission and are now ready to play. The process has its pluses and minuses. Positives-they come back more discplined, stronger, and more mature. Negatives-Some come back out of shape, or don't have the drive they once did as a 18 year to play the game. FYI...Very impressive, you beat UCLA.
From a Nebraska fan stand point, it is really sad, but they put the effort in to win it. I can't wait til' the two play again. Congrats, BYU! - From a Nebraska Fan
Notice how it's an away game and you still hear the stadium erupt in cheers after that catch? I love how well the byu fan base travels to support their team. Go Cougs!!
I can't imagine the pressure and nerves that Magnum was feeling when he was told to make that last throw... you win the game or you fail everyone. Good luck true freshman, second string QB! It's a good thing his pants are blue, instead of white!!
To be able to catch it into your body on the goal line is crazy! As the catch is happening 8 Huskers are parallel to the receiver or behind him lol 5 defending 3 receivers and 3 standing around. Absolutely wild!
As a BYU fan I just want to say to Nebraska fans to win out the season so our victory won't be tainted and hopefully we can do the same and make your loss more respectable.
Nice one. Defenders got to be kicking themselves. Great grab in all that coverage. I thought it was pass interference had he missed it, but I suppose a Hail Mary gives a little leeway as it's just up for grabs for the most part. Thought the losing fans were great in cheering the play in the end.
Because 765 pounder, they had no timeouts left. They used them just before this play. On a separate note, congrats to BYU. Their Hail Marys almost always seem to connect, much more than other teams.
So it's going to be another one of those seasons for Nebraska... I'm heading down to Miami to watch them in two weeks, hope they pick themselves up from this loss.
For Nebraska fans and players, it is less about giving up the Hail Mary than it is about BYU even having a chance to win with a Hail Mary. Vintage Nebraska teams would have put the game away by the third quarter.
I was there, we left 30 seconds early and when we got outside we went over to a tailgate right across the street and on their TV it showed they scored a touchdown.
Another dramatic end of game call by Sean McDonough, along with the '15 Michigan State--Michigan game and the '92 Sid Bream slide (Braves beating Pirates in NLCS)
Look at the ball when the players move...........The ball and him are on the 1 yard line..............I don't know if the Refs are blind or BYU fans but that was clearly a heartbreaker for BYU and a call for the Refs to wear some glasses. Even though I'm a Michigan State fan.
Look how much cheering there is after that catch.. Lot of buy fans at an "away" game. Buy has the best fans in college football, hands down. We also travel the best. Always their for out Cougs. RISE AND SHOUT THE COUGARS ARE OUT!!!!
At the time I recall College football.nuts claiming that BYU was being wiped out, way behind, miracle plays got them back in the game. BYU however was behind by 1 and it had been a terrific play competitive game all the way. Nebraska has the best sportmanship among the fans, Alabama 2nd. No nasty stuff, vulgar chants, people drunk out of their minds as was the case when I was at Arizona State. The Huskers play with class win or lose, the fans are there also showing respect. When BYU played Alabama losing by a TD 38-31" I must have had 15-20 guys come up to me, pat me on the back and say good things about the Cougars. I and a buddy were offered BBQ and all the drinks or beer we wanted at the motor home, 7-8 times. To be Big and act Big =Class Texas fans were also OK, disappointed by good sports
+765lbsquat Like they said, they used all the TO's they had before that play. Not sure how only two defenders were in contention rushing 3. He lost one guy around the 5. Nobody was in front of him. Really though, it was a freak play. Perhaps 1 in 20 tries it works. That's generous though.
Number eleven goes over and hugs the ref. He should, he was pushing off in the back of the end zone and could have gotten offensive interference, negating the touchdown.
Ya they will, they don't deserve it because there 5-7 but they will, there's not enough 6-6 teams to play for bowls so the best 4 5-7 teams will play in one, obviously Nebraska is one of the better ones as well as Missouri aka Misery.
Guess I was wrong in the end. Congrats for Nebraska for winning their bowl game even though I don't think 5-7 teams should've gotten in. Perhaps seeing the best FCS teams in the bowl games might've been more interesting instead.
I think the fact that all the 5-7 teams won their bowl games and that the two top ten Big Ten teams scored a combined total of 16 points, records don't always tell the story.
I am so happy that karma has finally bit this joke program in the backside! Every year this joke program (neeeeeeebraskaa) schedules 1-AA, cupcake 1-A teams, or 1-A teams that are in a rebuilding mode for their home opener and non-conference schedule. They got what they deserved on 9.5.15!!! Congrats to BYU, and mostly to BYU's back up QB and the receiver who made that awesome catch, and to the other receiver who hugged the ref before he celebrated with his team! :) Lose Cornsuckers!!! (y)
losing to a hail mary is like losing a pick up basketball game when the guy who hasnt done anything all game chucks up a bad wing-three-pointed line shot and banks it in haha just infuriating
