A great road trip and walkaround of the Practical Classics NEC Restoration Show in Birmingham, UK. Features Project Bramble Mk3 Cortina road trip to NEC, abandoned Capri Classic and tons of Classic Fords, many more......
Great transformation and relief when these smart motorways are finished. I find them most relaxing when the speed restrictions and average speed cameras are in force, there's no ducking & diving.
Mark C Littler until you break down on one with small children in the back, or elderly people, or disabled passengers as you look in your rear view mirror and see vehicles bearing down on you at 60 mph...
Hiya Pete, watched the post from Hubnut chatting with you this morning, chalk & cheese, your OCD in finishing to better than factory & his total lacsidaiscal ineptitude in keeping a motley selection of vehicles just about running
Doing catch up on the vids. I do enjoy seeing the range of projects seen in this vid. Real projects of passion and determination. The air cond was funny. Lol You'll have to retitle the vid AND instructional video for owners of Mitsubishi Electric PEFY-P-VML-E air conditioners. LOL
Wow. I used to get Custom Car magazine as a young lad in the seventies and yes the news agent used to think I got it for the semi naked women sprawled all over the cars, but they were just an added bonus! I remember seeing that Bedford HA van with the MK2 Escort grill & lights, Jag back axle and V8 with lowered roof and simple pinstripes and loved it! I'm so glad it's still alive and looking as good as it did in the magazine! Taken me right back seeing that! The HA van and MKI Transits are my favourite vehicles, but both bloody expensive and getting rarer every day!
Thanks for the shout out, even though you were fixing the hotel’s air con at the time. Only you could get away with that. Pure entertainment. Brilliant.
Yeah no doubt those Rover P5B coupes and P6s look Brilliant when done up and not expensively prohibitive even the P5 3L, not as rare as Cortinas though. Vauxhall Crestas look absolutely brill with the crome and styling.
Lots of work left to do but Bramble is looking good. That is a very populated area you are staying in. It's great to see so many people coming out to these events. There are lots of amazing vecicles to see for sure. Some of them I have never ever seen before.
I really want to go to this show every year I always have something else on. Watching this and seeing some of these cars I can remember watching being banger raced and never thought about the preservation it was so wrong the amount of rare cars that went that way beggars believe. Great video work again
Really enjoy and look forward to watching your videos. Was so good to see you and Bramble at the nec over the weekend. Nice to of had a catch up with you Pete. Can’t wait to see this gxl when it’s complete.
Re: The hotel a/c system: I've been there, should I put up with their laziness or mess with the system? But I'm not as brave as you! Well done for cleaning the filter, I only ho[e you successfully managed to invoice them for the job.
Good to see you secured the trolley wheels properly this time, even a bent allen key too. 😀😁🚓but those 4:40 would be bomb proof.. and Bundy Root beer . just what every aussie needs in those moments of want, a good root.
My favourite youtubers 😊 Hubnut and Pete C. Pity I'm so far away in France. I must try to get to the 2020 edition. Maybe this would be a trip to do next year with my French MX5 mate. Valence-Birmingham with our two MX5 RHD NAs... would be fun!
Joe sorry we could not chat, I did get lot of visitors but still would have liked to have chatted, i hope to do some shows around uk this year, have you any car shows planned? i may be able to meet?
Pete C not sure. I’ve got my own car to work on, which has suddenly turned into an epic!! Was planning on a mild resto and Chevy ls 1 which is rapidly becoming a full resto and bmw v8. Hope to make a few shows though.
Pete C Hi Pete. Tiling still going. Had planned to start shedding Skin from my back as I crawl under my Car to start removing the front Suspension, But the Wife had other plans. Cheers 🍻
Excellent video of NEC bro, only ever stayed in a hotel once as my friend was the manager and cost me nothing. I prefer tenting in a motor camp on the coast. Hey all the best
Pete C morning enjoyed it lot thanks she looked really good in show next time you can drive her there I did catch her last Saturday on hubnut it was only few minutes on his vid just let you know I'm still looking seen few cortinas just not found right one for me at moment
Pete C the aircon engineer 😂brilliant, was good meeting you on Sunday and seeing bramble up close and personal, look forward to more videos on brambles progression.

Hello Pete was really looking forward to the show and bang got myself a slipped disc. Tried my hardest to get myself something like but just couldn't walk or sit down. I no better now so disappointed. Hope you had a great weekend ..
ouch, how are you now Richard? has it got any betteR? it sounds painful, what about a car show thsi spring / summer, try and get theat injusry sorted and theres always another time? get well soon and thank you for supporting me, from Pete
Good work Pete , liking these crossover videos with lan Hub Nut . Watched his 2 videos of the show earlier this week and while he concentrated on the more quirky vehicles , there was more focus on the Ford's (no pun intended) in your report , so a win-win as far as l'm concerned . Highlights for me (apart from Bramble of course) were the Vauxhall FD Ventora , the Opel Rekord (looked like it borrowed the doors off a same era Vauxhall PC Cresta) that nice mk4 two door next to you and the couple of Avengers . Would you take on that Consul Capri ? I wonder when a car is so far gone that it is un-restorable , what is the limit ? And if you replace almost everything does it cease being the car it once was ? Noticed a lot of more modern cars here , y'know eighties and nineties stuff escorts and that , and sadly an absence of Mk 2 , 3 and 4 Zephyr's and PB and PC series Vauxhall Cresta's . Can't understand that really . Could it be all the big Ford's and Vauxhall's of the sixties have been destroyed by the demolition derby boys ? Now l think about it l don't recall seeing a Mk2 Granada either . Very sad . Knew you wouldn't be able to leave the hotel air conditioning unit alone ! Cortina City strikes again ...oh yeah !!!
I reckon Fords and Vauxhalls because of their reasonable prices were bought to be actually well used that's probably why there's few classic ones around rather than rust and neglect they just became uneconomically viable.
great to see yourself and Ian "Hubnut" Seabrook chatting on both of yours videos,,,can you see yourself ever taking a journey to Wales and having a spin in little TWC the Invacar ?
i'll take a rusty bit of bramble, oh and if you ever need some brambles pete your welcome to come round mine and help yourself! ah yes the rusty consoul capri, hubnut said its beyound resto, nah, unless you can see from the boot to the engine there still hope, plus i bet if you had left branble for a few years it'll f looked like that, that's rare, twin carbs good luck in restoring that clearly that was someones hot rod or faster then morden cars oh a dewalt box lovely some new tool to try, oh its a goody complete with a dinky branble! love it, some nice cars there rare and very rare to common once but you hardly see now, and off home to finish up getting it ready to next years show...maybe
Hi Pete on the way back from the royal mint tour on Sunday passing the nec some great cars I was looking for you and bramble and hub nut in his Mazda on the m6 no luck still some great cars
2:40 Congleton gets a mention. There was a BBC radio play back in about 1991/92 entitled "The Delegate from Congleton". It was slightly spicy for daytime radio.
Great video Pete looks like a good time was had by all it was great to see all the restored classic motors and those not unlike Bramble that appear to have been recently rescued and in need of some love. I love seeing all the classics being brought back from the dead by dedicated car guys like yourself does the heart good tiz a good venue the old NEC. Did you hear that geezer dissin her as she was on her way in the building I SWEAR I heard her growl at him and just off in the distance a Buddy Holly track was playing all I can say is it's a good job she isn't red OR called Christine coz I reckon 'his, cards would be well an truly marked LOL. About two minutes before you said somethin when you were on your way back I thought NOOOOOOOOO it's rainin ... she's gettin wet .. she's fully naked ... this ain't gonna end well, so while you were sleeping snug as a bug in a rug in your executive room poor old Bramble was sitting flash rusting and shiverin .... I'm wellin up just thinkin about it lol. You need a car cover for such outings Pete mate save you the anguish of starin at fresh rust the following day. Glad to see it's all going well and that you were inundated with some nice prezzies from your loyal fans .. free beers are always a bonus (thumbs up) looking forward to the next update fella till then chill out kick back and get some sleep ... AFTER you've sanded all the new rust off her of course ;)
there seems to be no flash rust, theres is a phosphate coat on the metal, and all metal i have doen has the primer on, i also had a front screen fitted just in case, all seems ok, yes you are right a man calls the car a pice of 'sheeet' and the other guys says it used to be a mk3 cortina. they have no idea, but how could they, its just the way it is............ive already taken the roof off....im on with new roof as we speak.... thanks as ever Pete
Nobody restores mk3 Cortina's like you Pete C. I hope Ford recognize the work you do and offer you a photoshoot at the Ford Heritage Centre. Maybe Ruby, Swampy or Bramble was produced at the Dagenham plant.
Funny thing for many old enough to remember, is that most of those cars never looked half as good in the showrooms. Question of personal taste, but when a car is in a non standard metallic 2 pack paint, polished to within a micron of it's clearcoat, does it offer a true period feel? The Green Mk1 Capri and yellow Mk2 RS2000 both stunning.
Hi Pete, Made it down to see Bramble on Saturday. Well worth the visit, great seeing all the floor pan complete. Didn't get chance to say hello, you where busy with a group of people at the time. Looking forward to your next video.
last year it wemt as a barn/headge/find of a old rusty car that works, this year it goes as a very half done but still crusty around the edges bit of filler will do her m8 no worries, well until they mot it but then that's only for a few more years, next year it'll be.....i'm thinking half finished still as in its all painted but it still has trim doors insides engine to go in,
The M6 a joy to drive?? Get off I snapped a spring in January coming back from visiting my mother! Did you find a stray ‘shroom in the workshop before you left?? Lol
Pete C I’ve been driving that stretch of the M6 for more than thirty-five years! I dread to think how much of my life I ‘ve wasted on the blasted thing. Btw I’m only a long stones throw from your Homebase just other side of the M6.
Pete i was going to ask you, how are you going to keep the shell dry! I got to the end of the video thinking you got lucky, then heard the rain!! that must be a nightmare of flash rust, you better stock up on some phosphoric acid(for the shell that is)
Most of these cars are from the past Personally I think they should be left there I don't have nostalgia for these past era cars I can appreciate that these car enthusiasts do, A bygone time its good to see them preserved?
DVLA summons coming too you very soon for using a motor vehicle without valid tax, mot & insurance on a public road courtesy of an anpr camera surley ;) brave having the full number plate on display while travelling
