Good tutorial, really helped with my paint scheme. I'll also add that something that helps me with necrons is gluing the gun arms together, the head to the chest, and leaving the rest unattached. These skelly bois have some hard to reach areas and it definitely helps doing it that way
I agree that painting in subassemblies is generally the way to go. It is has been a while since I made this video, but I suspect I went with fully assembling in it either a) to make the steps simpler to follow for a new painter, or b) what little instructions were provided with the kit did full assembly.
If you have a black primer, that would speed things up for you, since you wouldn't need to do a black undercoat. I would recommend using a primer of some sort other wise your paint will wear noticeably from handling.
It shouldn't be, when doing a single model I often will just brush it on instead of getting out the airbrush. I recommend thinning primer like you would thin paint when doing a base layer, so it doesn't obscure details.
Depending on exactly how it broke I would probably try using plastic cement to fuse the parts back together. That would work better than super glue, since it actually melts the plastic a bit creating a strong bond instead of just being an adhesive holding the parts together. I personally recommend Tamiya's Extra Thin if you don't have any. Just a small amount on each side of the break and hold the pieces together for a bit. If the break is far away from the mounting points with the body you might get away with attaching them to the body and then applying the cement so you don't have to hold the parts by hand.
why did you prime it light grey then base it with black, you could've based with abaddon black like the kit provided or spray with chaos black, kinda a pointless step
As I said in the video, I am primed it a light colour to match the plastic cause there was no primer provided in the kit. I didn't want to work on unprimed plastic, but I also wanted to show for an absolute beginner, who didn't have primer, what Abaddon Black being layed down would look like. I totally agree with you, priming black would be the proper way to go outside the context of this kit.
hey, i just ordered bunch of tools, paints and my first warhammer set (recruit), but i have no idea where to get primer, i thought that primer was just like doing a layer of the abaddon black with my brush, could you elaborate please?
Honestly, I am probably not the best person to ask about Necron stuff, I am not collecting them and I haven't painted much of them other than what you see in this video.
That will work from the perspective of providing an undercoat for the metallics colours, but without a primer, the paint will be signfiicantly more prone to wearing and coming off, especially if they are handled a lot.

By Warhammer 40k Magazine "Imperium" (Hachette) in issue #2 (includes 3 Necron warriors, a metalic gold paint, a small brush). it told me Nothing about { Primer/ Undercoat with Black paint}. But told me to paint straight with metallic gold color with small brush (for Base Color). i know, the magazine was for beginers who has less Tools and Colors for minitures, but it was a bit too rough.
Assuming Google Translate is accurate :-) that is correct, I only use the paints from the starter sets in this video and should be saying the colour names.
@@SleepyWhatsIt oh, ahah, thats funny situations. Sooo, if you here, i have a little questions for you. I am working with my necrons right now, and i primed them with black primer. Do I need to paint whole mini with Base Abaddon black or it can be just primer?
I would say in general no, if you are going to base in another color, I would just do that directly over primer. The one exception is for areas you want to be black, those I would base in Abaddon Black since that will affect the finish (how shiny it is) and make it easier to fix mistakes later.
