I saw Uriah Heep open for Judas Priest 2019 and was impressed by them. They were very good live.

Went to Dublin a few weeks ago and went to see the Phil statue. Lizzy posters and music and impact everywhere even 40 years later. A band that nobody seems to dislike, especially metalheads.

That was a great collection update, Nick! I’ll have to check out the band Trial sometime; they sound exactly up my alley.

Hey Necrotic, been watching you guys for a while now. You’ve turned me on to some great DM and even helped me branch out to other sub genres. If I may, I wanted to turn you on to my friend’s solo project “Cynical Pain”. There’s only one single out right now but more to come very soon and a first full length LP. Thanks again for all you guys do! 🤘

Amazing CD update Nick. Those two Thin Lizzy albums are overlooked in their discography. Thy Catafalque is an amazing Hungarian experimental black metal band and Meta is one of their best albums. Demons and Wizards is my favorite album from Uriah Heep and Abominog is an overlooked 80’s Heep album. Xenomorph’s Empyreal Regimes is an overlooked one and done death metal album. The Headless Cross is one of the best W.A.S.P. albums. When it comes to those Yes albums, Tales from the Topographic Oceans is one of their best and Going for the One is underrated.

Being Omaha born and raised it always makes me happy to see Xenomorph brought up. We've always had a relatively low output of extreme metal bands in Nebraska and Xenomorph is one of if not the only truly legendary extreme metal band to ever come from this state. Our hardcore scene has gained more notoriety in recent years but no one thinks of death metal when they think of Nebraska.

The 4th track on that Thy Catafalque album (Ixion Dunn) gave me a real vibe of a Doctor Who villain theme, in the beginning

To me, 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' is one of the most wrongfully misunderstood albums of all time; sure it meanders somewhat, but there are passages of such beauty and brilliance, that the mind boggles! ..but speaking of beauty, the track 'Awaken' on 'Going for the One' takes the prize; absolutely GORGEOUS! Wakeman's organ solo alone is worth the price of admission! Definitely a top 10 song of the entire YES discography for me! 👌👌

Excellent diverse collection update, Nick. Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep, W.A.S.P., Wolverine were the bands I've heard of but the rest I'm not too familiar with.

I love Uriah Heep and WASP. The Headless Children actually featured Ken Hensley of Uriah Heep on the keys. Ken Hensley was my favorite songwriter for Uriah Heep. His early solo stuff amazing as well. David Byron too with his solo and Rough Diamond. Its overwhelming trying to collect everything but what you got is a great start. Look at Yourself, Magicians Birthday, Sweet Freedom, and Firefly along with the two you have are my favorites. Into the Wild is my favorite of the newer Heep. Conquest is very weird vocally so probably get that last lol. It kinda grew on me over the years but i still won't listen to it in front of people so yeah lol.

A Proto-metal spectacular. U. H. has an amazing drummer, I mean the whole band is amazing, but their drummer is extra special nuts. Demons and Wizards is a masterpiece. Good shit bro. Check out UFO's Phenomenon. If you dig, Yes, Scorpions, and UH, I think you'd dig it.

Necrotic Nick- Yeah, I ended up getting a lot of classic stuff that I had been missing and finally getting some Uriah Heep in my collection was long overdue especially. I definitely want to get some UFO in my collection at some point.

@@thrallsofmetal Dude, I hate Axle Rose so much that when I saw him wear Thin Lizzy's shirt, it turned me off on the band due to association; however, after learning about Gary Moore and researching his career, I found out this band was legit. Phil was a God. Dude's wanted to be him, girls wanted to be with him. Swag before swag was a thing. To me I hear so much Thin Lizzy in Motorhead. If metal had a sex genre, they could be the founders. Good stuff dude. Would you say that Tales from Yes is like Rush's Hemispheres? Where they push it to the limits from every standpoint and it may come off as showy? I know hard core Rush fans love Hemisphere's. I like Permanent Waves the best. It takes that ostentatious, "Hey guys, look how good we can play?" and puts it in a smaller, more condensed version of themselves, while not losing who they are. It's amazing how prog bands can be. You gotta let them have their own every once in a while to make them happy, for themselves, not everyone else. 90125 is a effin banger too. They were one of the few bands who could do 70's and 80's music good.

I've only started to check out Uriah Heep recently. To me, they sound like a fusion of Deep Purple and Vanilla Fudge (those vocal harmonies!). I haven't gotten to Abiminog, but I liked parts of Demons & Wizards well enough. Finally, we get to the Yes you promised!! 😁 Tales is definitely a divisive one. Prog heads absolutely love it, but others think it's the epitome of everything wrong with prog. I'm kinda with you in that it has good parts but is trying to be too big and just ends up bloated. FWIW, Wakeman did later say that he liked some of the parts on the album and was willing to play "Revealing Science..." again when he rejoined the band in the 90s. The album in between is Relayer, not Drama. If you think Tales is too proggy, Relayer is insane. Definitely their most technical album. It took more than a few listens to even wrap my head around "Sound Chaser." Going for the One is definitely an album where the band loosened up. Instead of trying to force these big ideas, they just sat down and wrote songs, and the album is better for it. "Awaken" is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned, and the rest of the album is pretty good as well. The band goes through some interesting shifts afterwards with Tormato and Drama, but those albums have some of Chris Squire's best (and that's saying something!). The band actually broke up in '81 before reuniting with a different lineup in '83 for "Owner of a Lonely Heart" and the rest of 90125 (which is also a great album). 😁 Just as a sidenote, Jon Anderson recently did an album with The Band Geeks called True that is very Yes like. Worth checking out if you want a classic Yes sound with more modern production.

Haha, you totally butchered the pronunciation of the Hungarian names of the Thy Catafalque's tracks, but big respect for even trying to say them out loud. The new album is not out just yet, it will be released in November. Can't wait for you to say the title of new album :) : A gyönyörü álmok ezután jönnek.
