This reviewer sounds like just a regular guy telling me what's good and bad about the game- but doing so in a clear and simple manner of speaking. Why can't more reviews be like this? Well done.
+VideosBySteve I think he should've put more pressure on that Shift is more of a track racing game rather than a street racing game. Previous NFS titles were all about street racing and escaping from cops etc. Also i think there is less amount of customization available to cars in Shift. Still a great game tho.
Something similar was already seen in most wanted 2005 during the beginning of the game racing against Razor when the player loses himself in his imagination
Watching this 10 years later, I’m surprised how well this game has aged! Found the game in my childhood room and had to look up some gameplay for the sake of memories!
I liked Need for Speed Shift, I dont mind Gran Turismo and stuff. Although my gaming pc died a long time ago so Ive never gotten a chance to try those games you listed. I like both style of racing games, but I lean more towards the action side, like hot pursuit, most wanted etc. Still liked prostreet (not that its a sim) and Shift which is more of a sim kind of racer.
i'm also the fan of nfs series but nfs shift has some serious issue about it physics and handling which i don't like.so, if you want realistic driving experience, i'm recommend you to try both of games above and also build your new gaming rig :) ps:with steering wheel
Need for speed shift is incredible!! The feeling of speed was unmatched, the physics were nice and the customization was good. But they ruined shift 2, that game is terrible
@@alexdiaz9207 Word. 2020. There's Project Cars 2 (also by Slightly Mad Studios) now that can basically be tuned to similar handling/difficulty, so I don't think we're really missing out.
got this game when I was 16 bsck in 2009 after hanging out downtown with my friends skateboarding. my mom picked me up at 8:30 and raced over to GameStop. Played this game for hours religiously.
For me it's one of the best and challenging NFS ever done! I'm playing it now with a wheel. The game is simply amazing but also quite difficult as well. This is not an arcade game like Hot Pursuit or even the Run. This game is a real RACING. And it won't forgive any mistakes from your side. Though sometimes I just hate this game because one mistake can ruin the whole race... But it is defenitely worth playing it. GREAT NFS!=)
@pankero1 What about the PC version? With a wheel and petals? Would recommend that? I just got finished building my gaming rig a couple weeks ago, and now I need some games :P
I still think Live For Speed is the best driving simulator of all time... shift looks too stiff... not sure if stiff is the right word here, but looks to restricted.
Will you be able to drive your car in 3rd person?? I personally prefer that. However it'd be cool to drive in cockpit view, to me, it might get annoying pretty soon. Please answer :)
Years have passed and the reviewer is still right about NFS Shift being the best NFS game ever. Too bad that most recent EA's NFS games are just mediocre and I'm glad Slightly Mad Studios made Project Cars series.
@09asura Yeah, I know, it was kinda weird I said ´orginal´ I know they´re not original, I already expected a comment like this xD Shift is just A LOT different from the NFS's before hot persuit.
I have this game and have purchased several other NFS games. Shift is by far the best of the franchise. The others are just over done and unnecessarily complicated, they have stupid concepts and poor racing dynamics. This one just feels right. I liked it so much I bought two copies, one for each PS3 in my house. Notice that the new resale price hasn't dropped below 25 bucks.
best ign reveiw ive seen in a long time, an as a fan of the underground series (grew up with the 1st) id say its a pretty awesome reveiw and im interested in the game despite being track an not city racing. got me interested
My problem with Shift and the reason I never bought Shift was that it was not a NFS game. It did not have any car customization, no online, and was trying to compete with Forza and GT when NFS is in a completely different realm of racing games. This is not NFS, it might be a great game, but its not a NFS game.
im deciding weather to get nfs shift 1 or 2 im due a new good racing game and i have played bits and bobs but still cant decide plzzzzzzzz help if u can!!! thanx
This and "Midnight Club: Los Angeles" are the only racing games that I ever had problems with completing. I have fortunately beaten "Los Angeles" last year. I should probably play this again soon.
Is there any recent need for speed that has illegal street racing. I haven't played need for speed in so long and I need a game like most wanted. Are there any games like it made in 2010-11?
@TomHebbFreestyles point taken, and you're absolutely right, but IF i do this, every other car on the grid will overtake me with ease and i'll end up as last... that's the tricky part..
Does anyone know how to fix the infinite loading on nfs shift 2 or when you load the race it takes forever to even start pls someone help me im on xbox 360 btw plss help
the only prob i had with this game was the body customization, i liked it when you could choose any part you want, but in this they give you 3 small body-kits, my fave was still Underground 2 cause of all the parts I could choose from, but I have to admit, the Vinyl customization in this game makes up for the lack of body parts
@ordude123 Unfortunately Microsoft stopped production of their xbox 360 steering wheels however you can still purchase them online and third party companies like mad catz have xbox steering wheels for sale. But it's a shifter and not a paddle shifter.
I'm trying to collect all racing games made for the 360, I guess this will be worth a purchase but I played it before and remember the handing was well dodgy, it was hard just driving in a straight line. Worth playing though
I wish there was a way to turn off all the carnival stuff at the side. Yes, it gave you an impression that you were in a really competitive race weekend and stuff, but turning it off would've made it run smoother with less animations to run. There's a mod (at least for the pc) that gets rid of that but it is a bit confusing to get that right.
i like both gran turismo 5 and forza motorsport 3 but one thing i really like about shift.is the cockpit experience. the way the car shakes and stuff feels like i have real speed
