Subaru being possessed by Betelguese is such a great scene, man. Especially the voice acting, Kobayashi Yuusuke did a spot on impression. Dude deserves more main character roles in good shows ^^
@@The0Flaming0One haven’t watched dr stone but might as well give it a go now that season 2 is coming this winter season; right now I’m catching up on some old shows and revisiting a few of my favorite anime/mangas
@@drp7751 at this point he cares about the people at the mansion and the village and a couple of his comrades, that’s all. The more people he meets, the harder it gets for him to save them, so imo the lesson is probably coming later down the line.
@@Nadie47 but we all know our boy Subaru is greedy and stubborn enough to let go. He's never gonna give anybody up lol, and it'll bite his ass somewhere down the road.
The ending to episode 23 is still one of my favorites. The emotion between Subaru, Julius, and Felis, along with the music kicking in just always send chills down my spine.
Yeah! At the end of that last episode, I always get a bit choked up, thinking of what it feels like for Felis and Julian. After fighting so hard and winning huge victories together. Also, Subaru is there, fighting the take over, begging to be killed. Damn, still a damn enjoyable show, after years. Likely endearing for many seasons ahead.
Yeah, that edit was nice, but sometimes his sense of humor is terrible to the point of making half a video cringy, like when he put squeaky noises for every time Kira punched Koichi in JoJo's
This was the episode that made me realize how great Re:Zero is in rewatches cuz I never understood why the letter was blank until, well y’all know what happened.
@@frankiebigrings7048 gluttony already ate rem by then. Since she doesn’t exist, neither does the words she wrote to Ram, hence the letter being blank.
@@wh1plashhhhhh Everything that had to do Rem was removed from existence once Gluttony ate "her existence". Rem wrote the letter, therefore the letter was blank. The later episode shows Rem and Crusch leaving after the whale encountering Gluttony, well THIS scene with the blank letter actually happens AFTER the Gluttony encounter.
Subaru to Julius: "Ok, on the count of three, who's the biggestd dickhead in the world, don't even think about it just say the words, 1....2.....3....." Both: "you" Julius:" Did we just become best friends?" Subaru:" YEP"
I feel like no one talks ab this, but I’ve always loved the ending of episode 23. The way Julius’ character has come around for Subaru in that he feels horrible about killing him. That entire ending sequence with Subaru being taken over by Betelgeuse was so brilliantly acted and the interactions between the 3 characters in the scene (or 4 if you include betelgeuse) was just immaculate.
Lupa : It made complete sense that this is happening and it's fucked up. That's the great thing about this anime. The author really build a incredibly heavy lore with several different magic systems and lots of different monster and villains that terrorized the world for centuries, all to just torture this ONE character. This anime is truly Subaru against the world.
I hope you guys react to Re zero: Frozen bonds and upload it here on YT Fun fact: Petelguese's voice actor is the same as Teruki from Mob Psycho and Inosuke from Demon Slayer
Also, not a spoiler, but in the carriage where the witch cultist blows himself up, the anime cut the part where Felix remarks that he actually died and resurrected himself (reference to 9 live cat thing)
its not just because of the witches scent they explained it in the novel basically the requirements are that a person must possess the witch's love and also be compatible with spirits. If both requirements are met the spirit called Betelgeuse can potentially control their body
I like how Subaru getting taken over by Betelguese was hinted in episode 18 in his death, how he was laughing while being frozen. So it's not nearly as much as a "twist" as you believe on a first viewing.
I know a lot of people love ep 15, others love ep 18 or "Parent and Child" from second season, but I absolute love this ep 23. It´s so sad how they give you hope when betelgeuse is "killed" and then take it all away in the end crushing the emotions of Felis and Julius with Emilia feeling that something happened with Subaru. I'm kinda used to see Subaru suffering so when is someone else suffering hits different.
still can't get over the fact that Julius has the same VA as Hachiman from Oregairu, my boy 8man's so different so hearing his voice for someone this nice knightly and proper feels kinda weird ^^
Phenomenal reaction. I am quite excited to see your thoughts on the next episode.....as well as the very start of season 2 right after. I look forward to both whenever they come out.
@@chickenbiskit3620 that's also why with petra and the people in the village have a different attitude toward subaru because with the situation that happens with gluttony subaru is the only person that saved the children and the villagers from the ma beast roswaal and ram only showed up at the end of that fight.
Ironically enough mabeast flesh tastes terrible and will make you sick. So not only did Daphne plague the world with monsters you can't even follow her intended purpose with them.
Fun fact: Julius doesn’t even hold a grudge against Subaru, he only beat the fuck outta him cause he knew other knights would go after him and maybe even kill him.
This betelguese transformation was hinted at when puck froze subaru in episode 17 after guese died subaru started laughing uncontrollably. We just think subarus mind is breaking but his voice over doesn't even recognise he's laughing until later showing he wasn't on control. And the blank letter, i wonder why what he wrote would have disappeared 🤔 👀
I don't agree with everything these guys say but I can admit that this lady is very smart. She was able to get the idea that Subaru wasn't able to get when Betelgeuse took over him. 😂
To be fair, in this timeline I dunno if kicking him out would work, where would his soul go? Next time he's still alive and gets sent back, this time not really all fingers are dead. Also question what don't you agree with? Not starting anything just curious
@@TimothyGod for one thing, if a dude loves a girl and is loyal to her, how is he a simp. The definition of a simp is someone who overvalues a woman. She even calls him a F-boi in episode 18. Rem was able to see something that her die hard fans can't see even to this day. But she's still better than the other two guys. Also thanks for bringing that up. I didn't think of that before. Subaru really had no other choice in that timeline. 👍
God, it really feels like sometimes this show WANTS to do that, but tbf he knows the path at that point, he might be a bit tired since he probably won't need to die if he starts that far back again tho. And hey he might be able to correct things down the line a lot better, setup (if he restarted that far at the current point in the show) and maybe not send them to the sanctuary 😂
Btw you should know because it changes everything, in the light novels Rem actually said that she wouldn't mind being his second wife and they decided that if emilia is fine with it they'll go with that
I like how Sheera brought up the way Emelia fought the bowel hunter in the beginning like Emilia didn’t get her ass beat along with everyone else until the sword master showed up. She was just strong enough to make the beating last. That girl is not a fighter. At least not against people that are actual fighters. Best girl for example aka Rem. Which is why she has kitty boy to help her.
Mind you while all this is going on The very first encounter with Emilia essentially didn't happen because he reset and it progressed differently with Emilia, so Emilia doesn't fully get why Subaru acts the way he does toward her.
Fun fact: Subaru is voiced by the same dude who did Senku from Doctor Stone and Arthur from Fire force. But whats awesome is that Betelguese is voiced by Inosuke from Demon Slayer and Kirito from SAO
Probably already heard this from the patreon members but subaru has great afinity for spirits, thats why the spirit(for youtube only viewers wont say who gave him the spirit) was able to help subaru so much but it also meant that Betelgeuse wich is a spirit user first and foremost was able to invade him so eazely, not only did he have a body with great afinity for spirits but he also had a great deal of the witch's miasma ( love) to were if betelgeuse were to get accustomed to his body he would become even more powerful then his OG body was.
The reason why I think Subaru was able to get possessed by Betelguese is both because he is basically soaking in Witch aura and the fact that Juli earlier mentioned how Subaru had an affinity for Spirits which Betelguese is, an evil spirit that posses people
@@scoop1215 I'm an anime only I didn't think it was a spoiler considering the fact that Betelguese can jump from finger to finger so I just figured he was a spirit
@@Nick-mz3cy its not a spoiler u are right he is a spirit. What I said about pandora that is a spoiler and how he got corrupted should be shown by episode 15 or 16 of the 2nd season
21:05 I love how this was foreshadowed all the way back at the start of episode 18 when Puck destroyed Betelgeuse and his fingers and then froze Subaru to death... The hysterical laughing was actually Betelgeuse in Subaru's body and not Subaubarubaru... Edit: And if Subaru had obtained an actual contract with a spirit before this moment then Betelgeuse would not have been able to possess him.
fun fact they do not explain in the series, to summon the unseen hands the archbishop of sloth has to bite his fingers, I do not remember everything but if I do not mistake one bite to one finger = one hand, and the stronger the bite the bigger the hand or stronger or both (I'm not sure)
